like why was Menelaos Andrew Tate
crazy that the iconic bed scene isn't included!!
Nolan’s Odyssey thoughts
- some of the stylistic choices (mainly Agamemnon) looked amazing, whilst other characters felt so boring. Why was Menelaos dressed like a commoner?
- oh the script…did not put any trust in the audience. Instead the characters talked as if they were not inside the story, the repeated use of “Zeus’ law” and the “bronze age collapse” was especially jarring. It felt like it was written for people who are on their phones while watching the movie.
- Odysseus’ mental journey felt very Christianised or perhaps post-Christian. At times I thought this might’ve been the reason behind the stylistic choices, but I feel like I’m missing something. Why were some of the characters so futuristic/modern? The trojans looked like stormtroopers, Agamemnon was like a brutalist Batman, Calypso wore a fishnet dress or dressed like a yoga teacher. Ithaca in comparison was more traditionalist, the men were dressed quite boring. I don’t care about historical accuracy, but I wish I understood what these choices were trying to convey!
Things I liked, for a change:
- Elliot Page’s Sinon was fucking amazing. The most moving parts of the film circled around him.
- Circe literally sculpting the men into pigs was such a cool concept, loved the grotesque of it all.
- the Trojan horse (also some modern message due to the shape?) was so disgusting inside and I loved it.
- Helen and Clytemnestra! Loved how they showed Agamemnon’s death.
- Polyphemus was scary but also pathetic and cute ❤️❤️❤️❤️
dude star wars is so good and/or bad and/or mediocre sometimes, depending
Ohh so that's why they called that one show Andor

One of my meanest and pettiest qualities is judging the way people post their book annotations online. I’ve yet to see a page full of annotations that are actually useful, instead it’s just adults making observations that are 5th grade level at best. Idk I think it’s stupid and usually just performative

I love when desire leads to disappointment. It’s a classic
armand every time daniel calls him dad:
I think it’s clear that Nolan is deliberately going for an anachronistic approach in The Odyssey, but that doesn’t excuse how boring and cheap all of it looks. It becomes even more appalling when you compare it to the new Dune trailer with all its deep colours and intricate lighting. Odyssey’s issue isn’t just the costuming, but the way it is presented through filmography. I really do want to be proven wrong next week, but I highly doubt I will
I'm obsessed with this new collection of Abodi transylvania!! Photographed by Szilveszter Makó another huge new obsession mine.
