It's hard to pin down my all-time favorites because my tastes change so often, but I'll try. 10. Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) - Heaven on Their Minds Scene

This music gives me goosebumps. I first heard it when I was 14, and I've loved it ever since. If music can help someone with dementia, this is the music you should play for me to help me regain my clear mind.

This is a bit weird because I am not religious at all.

9. Strawberry Fields Forever, the Beatles

I don't know why, but I am getting very emotional when I hear this song.

8. Annie Lennox - Walking on Broken Glass

She is a goddess. 7. Kikuchiyo to mohshimasu - Pink Martini

And practically everything by Pink Martini.

6. The Millionaire's Holiday by Combustible Edison.

And those few albums that they released - they all are awesome!

5. Adriano Celentano - Il ragazzo della Via Gluck

I think Adriano Celentano is the greatest musician alive. And a man of irresistible charm.

4. Cesária Evora - Angola

Cesária Évora… … the barefoot, smoking lady with the voice of an angel.

3. Buena Vista Social Club - Chan Chan

Cuban music is special. This song, in particular, reminds me of a happy trip to Nuremberg, where my husband and I accidentally stumbled upon an open-air concert of Buena Vista Social Club.

2. Yachts - Coco Steel & Lovebomb 

It's not a song, but it's music that I can listen to many times over.

I think I will leave this top position empty, because there are too many songs that can be here. Age of Aquarius, Человек и кошка by Ноль, Summertime by Janis Joplin, Grace Jones - I've Seen That Face Before (Libertango) - and many-many more.

The beautiful thing about music is its diversity. There are no beauty standards in music. Some songs resonate, while others are catchy but empty. That's it.

What a wonderful lesson!

Seymour Bernstein teaches us that to excel in any area, one should understand the subject in its entirety—encompassing its physical, psychological, and social complexities. The prelude he discusses is only one page long, yet his 45-minute lesson touches everything from the choreography of a pianist, to the mechanics of the instrument, to the historical background of the prelude, and so much more. I can only hope that every musician has the opportunity to learn from a teacher like him.

Things cats were right about all along:

Fuck staying hydrated by drinking enough water - eat! more! wet! food! (watermelon, cucumbers, SOUP!)

Feels great to be really high up in your house where you can see the whole place (loft bed loft bed loft bed loft bed!)

Express yourself as clearly as possible when people are touching you and you don't want them to.

Optional, but you can also express yourself clearly when your people are not touching you and you want them to.

Sometimes it's important to just go "hmm. actually, I don't care" and wander off.

You don't have to be the strongest or toughest to defend yourself, it's enough to just be difficult enough to not be worth the trouble.

do you guys know that the cuban government doesnt let people fish or produce their own food , a lot of cubans havent eaten fish in years, IN AN ISLAND BTW most of the fish and food is reserved for exportation or the tourism in the hotels, but they're so happy like that you're right, they have rights its all america's fault. I also take this opportunity to ask you all to not go to cuba on "vacations" to take aesthetic pics of old cars and buildings and consumme their food and luxuries because you are contributing to the hunger and repression of cubans no matter how happy they seem to you.

I don't know what happened, but last night, I woke up at 1:30 because of the pain in my left shoulder. I probably just strained a few muscles while sleeping, but the pain was so strong that I thought for a moment that I had a heart attack. Ibuprofen helped, but I was really scared and I cancelled all the lessons this week. I didn't fall asleep after that, and I really need to relax and have a good rest. And something to help my shoulder that still aches, though not so badly.

Fluent in cat

The other day I walked into a supermarket. There was a three-year-old boy standing in front of me with his mom, it was a cute kid, and I wanted to smile at him, but instead I squinted my eyes, like cats do when they want to show you they like you.

I swear I did it automatically because that's what I do with my five cats all the time...

I don't know how well my cats speak Russian, but I am getting fluent in cat, I think.

Maybe I should think about socializing more with humans... idk...

So I've been learning French for a while and 'faire' is actually an incredible word. Like what a fucking breakthrough in economy of language.

Faire is a verb that is usually translated into English as "to do/to make," but it covers way more actions than that, which is very confusing for new speakers. because (I have realized) that's not really what faire means.

Faire is actually a word that just gestures vaguely in the direction of the object of the sentence and goes "you know." "Je fais du velo." "Je fais du courses." "Je fais mes valises." I'm biking. I go grocery shopping. I'm packing my bags. You're just sort of pointing at a bike and going "you know, the obvious thing you'd do with it."

English: "You mean RIDE it??"

French: "Sure whatever."

Like idk I just really enjoy the concept of a catch-all verb that you can just slap onto almost anything because who fucking gives a shit, you get the idea. There's a bike. what do you think I'm going to do with it.
