          “Oh, hello,” the Doctor replies. He doesn’t quite manage a smile, but it’s nice… to meet someone. “Don’t worry about that, I do that. Appear and disappear, it’s my thing. I have a thing now.”

          He looks around them, taking in his surroundings. “Am I in a library?” No, not quite big enough to be a library. Though – maybe it is a small library. In any case, it’s nice. Books. He likes books.

      “It’s a bit small for a library---” She rubs her eyes, covering a yawn afterwards and setting the book she’d fallen to sleep with aside. He seems as confused as she is, so Pandora doesn’t believe he’ll do her any harm.

So she shakes her head, pushes herself up to her feet and neatens her clothes. Taking a look around, she notes a couple of books that are out of place - something she rectifies immediately without a word - and wonders how she’d manage if this was a library.

     “--but I’m certain it’s just as good. Do you want something to drink?”

          The news that the first editions include DICKENS’ work only make him a bit more upset that they’re not for sale. No matter; he has one or two himself, and he’s sure if he’s meant to have them, he’ll find them EVENTUALLY He returns her smile with a GENUINE one of his one, eyebrows lifting as he gives her name.

        { ♜ } “Ah, Pandora…in Greek mythology, that name was given to the first human woman created by the gods.”

    “Ah yes-- Zeus commissioned Hephaestus to create her, so as to counteract Prometheus giving the mortals fire.” That’s probably not something he’s interested in, yet, she continues. “Did you know her box wasn’t actually a box? It was a jar. Some plonker in the sixteenth century mistranslated the Greek texts.” Okay, maybe calling them a plonker is a bit harsh -- but come on, how do you mix up a box and a jar?

Sontarans, Cybermen, Daleks…if they could do it, so could a human. “The thing that most people don’t understand is that being good isn’t a full-time job. No one is completely good, all of the time—that’s not how people work. All that matters is that you try to do the right thing, when the opportunity arises.”

   “I’d like to see it myself.” She wonders if the folk that killed her father could be good,  if they could change -- but that’s all she can do. Wonder. Just as she wonders who they were. “So....you’re saying that nobody is completely bad, either? Can you tell me about one of the times you’ve witnessed it?”

      “I’d like to believe that, sir---”  surely the whole evil-turned-good is a fairy tale? Then again, Pandora’s life has revolved around books for the past decade and she hasn’t set foot outside the book-store, so she can’t really comment on the real world. “I haven’t really been out recently -- can’t say I’ve met anyone who is a shining example of what you’re describing. Have you seen it happen?”
