Pisses me the fuck off that the anime community stopped being edgy. Like the animes themselves aren't edgy anymore either look at 2008 Black Butler v the reboot and how the violence and plot in 2024 MHA is so much more watered down than in 2018. You are fucking spineless if you cannot let go of Harry Potter, yes it is that serious.

If you cannot put the safety and happiness of real life trans people over your enjoyment of a fictional wizard, then you cannot call yourself an ally. Even pirating the series, even buying merch second hand, even denouncing JK Rowling, even if you headcanon every single one of her characters as transgender, you cannot separate the series from the harm it has done.

Rowling will not see your "every Harry Potter character is trans!" Post. You are not 'owning' her. You know who will see those posts? Trans people. Trans people who will now know that you put your enjoyment of a children's book over their lives.

It is this serious when trans people are losing their rights because of the money put into Rowling's pockets, the money she made from Harry Potter.

I fully support the idea of being critical of the media you consume, and in some cases you can separate the art from the artist. That works for people like H P Lovecraft, who is dead, and Nintendo, who, despite their racism, are not using their money to eradicate Arabs.

It doesn't matter if it shaped your childhood, it doesn't matter if you pirate or hate watch the new series. You need to move on. Read another book, maybe even a book written for adults this time.

Thinking about how like, first timeline homura AKA Moemura was low-key implied to be bullied by the same girls that in the most recent loop were swooning over her. Like can you imagine how that would feel? When you were at your most natural albeit weak self, they gossiped about how inconvenient you were due to health issues out of your control, that you struggled with the school work due to said health conditions. Yet the second you prove both academically and athletically superior, you're suddenly treated with respect and awe.

Mind you homura most definitely had other priorities but I can't help but shake the feeling that in later loops she saw the change in her colleagues and came to the conclusion they only liked her because she was "useful" to them. The second she became anything resembling a detriment to the cohort either in P.E or class, she'd be treated with pity and scorn just like she did in her first loop. Her popularity was hinged on performance rather than anything genuine.

The only person to treat her with empathy regardless of how well she did or didn't do, was Madoka.

Lukewarm take about full metal Alchemist but i sincerely believe if it came out in this day and age, it would not have survived like at all.
