Here is a little comic I made about some thoughts I’ve been having recently. I don’t ID as transmasc, and I have noticed that since I’m nonbinary and AFAB, some people in queer circles (online and irl) label me as transmasc! This has increased since I started T. Much love to my transmasc siblings, but I don’t identify with that term, and it misgenders me.

I figured if there’s not a lot of acknowledgement or discussion about non-transmasc and non-transfem people who physically transition, I can make some myself :)

Yup! Sometimes I stop and think about all the meds I take, and I know some people out there would be horrified just because of the number of them, no matter what they were (not that it should matter). I have 9 meds I take every single day, plus 2-3 more I take as needed. I guess that's a lot. Beats being miserable all the time! I'm not completely immune to the stigma, so I have to remind myself that it's okay to take however many meds I need if they're making my life better.

Some of them I'll probably or definitely be on my whole life. Some I'll be on as long as I can safely take them. Some will just be until I don't feel the need anymore. It's not that different from using my cane when I need it. Some people see it as this tragic thing that means something’s wrong (something kinda is wrong, that’s the point), but my cane resulted in me getting back into hiking and building up strength and stability to the point where I have fewer bad pain days. I still use the cane. Meds resulted in me having more energy, mental clarity, and calm. I don’t know if I’d still be able to work if I hadn’t started all those meds, let alone be able to take care of myself or do things I want to do.

So yeah, I’m dependent on them, but in the same way that I’m dependent on anything else that helps me live well, like proper nutrition or clean drinking water.
