reveries and nightmares -?- [open]
It has been quite a while since the gamer has last taken a step outside her house, let alone her room. She has already successfully gotten out of her room, preparing herself for going out. By the time her fingers touch the door knob, she narrows her sleepy eyes a little. She had to go out no matter what; it's been a week or so since she's went out to buy the video games she needed. But at the same time, she disliked walking out of her room a lot - constantly bumping into people who would talk to her while she's deep in her thoughts, having to turn down the volume of her game in order to not get told off to wherever she stood, and a lot of other things. Her feet do not move. She stares at the door, the perhaps only piece of furniture that is not littered or decorated with posters. After a moment of thinking, she steps out of the house, slamming the door shut.
The air outside her room felt freshening, the colors of her surroundings calming but also a little too bright for her eyes. It felt good. However, once outside, her eyes do not search for anything specific, remaining on her gaming console solely. Nanami is clearly aware that this was the first reason why she's getting lost on her way so many times; losing sight of where she has to walk to.
She was sure of where to walk to, though. The high-school girl knew almost every route to all existing gaming shops close to her house, it's something essential. That is if she excludes all the renovations made on the streets, people or obstacles she might accidentally run into, or any other factors that she never considers before going outside.
Her feet continue walking. She darts several glances at her surroundings in order to avoid walking into a wall or something alike again. Just as she was about to think that today was going to be a good day - it has been one till now - she tears her gaze away from the flashing pixels of her black screen, which suddenly seemed so bright, realizing that this was not where she wanted to go to. She flutters her eyelids. This place could be almost considered a cul-de-sac, the towering buildings blocking the sun light almost completely. The gamer tries to go further, but somehow realizes that it's only getting darker and darker. Unsure of what to do and irritated at the same time, she quietly mumbles:
"...hello?"
"Protagonist?" He assumed she was talking about a protagonist from one of her video games. From the way she was completely immersed in her game earlier, it wasn’t hard to deduce that she was someone who enjoyed video games and probably played a lot of games. The possibility that she encountered a character who said the same sentence as he did was not impossible. “You’ve played a lot of video games haven’t you?" He was a little concerned when she didn’t respond to his words and stood there, frozen with the ball in her hands. “Is everything alright?"
A smirk appeared on his face when the ball entered the goal. Perfect. "That was a nice shoot." It wasn’t as powerful as he expected, but he wasn’t disappointed since this was her first time playing soccer. Hearing a gasp escape from her lips, he shifted his gaze towards her. “You look surprised. I told you didn’t I? Nothing is impossible." He lightly smiled at her before walking towards the goal and retrieving the ball. He glanced at her. ‘Let’s see how quick her reaction rate is.’ He abruptly dropped the ball on the ground and kicked the ball towards her - making sure his kick had less power and speed than usual.
After accomplishing her kick along with accepting the compliments of the boy, the gamer felt little contentment growing in her. This feeling was definitely different from being successful in gaming, nevertheless - it was happiness either way, a thing she could be jubilant about.
"...Protagonist as in hero, the main character of video games."
She answers sedately, turning to the middle-school student with the same neutral expression on her face as earlier. She crosses her arms. Trying to remember what else he inquired, Nanami tilts her head a little while averting her gaze from meeting with the other's, as if she was trying to concentrate on something else. After just a moment's thought, her pink sleepy eyes widen. Unable to tell what she could conclude from the boy's question- whether he had ever played video games before or not- her desire of shouting at him was getting the better of her:
"Haven't you ever? That's nearly like wasting your life...! You have to try it out sometime!"
Almost blinded by the eagerness to show him how video games worked, Nanami begins to ponder about searching in her backpack for games. To be precise - it was the collection of football games she owns that she wanted to show him- as well as the other video games she has with her. Thinking that this might as well count as something she could give him in return, a faint smile flickers across the gamer's face. However, what the high-school student completely missed out on was the stranger, who was already making his way to the football, readying his kick towards her.
As if she's decided to do as her thoughts has told her, the gamer loosens a strap of her backpack and was about to search inside for its content. To her surprise, her personal enthusiasm was interrupted by the sound of something similar to a ball getting kicked.
"...!"
The noise that she at first presumed to be something imaginative grows unexpectedly louder. It didn't take longer than a second for her to push the thought of taking anything out of her backpack away. Her eyes flutter closed. She was able to merely dodge to her left, leaving the football to land on the pitch as it should have. Her eyes narrow slightly; gaze shifting once again to the middle-school student. This wasn't something she expected - right after been taught how to kick a ball properly by the very same person who afterwards attempts to kick a football into her face - be it another type of training or test.
Still uncertain about what that was for, the gamer continues staring at the football player, pouting as if she was still a little bit angry over what he has done, though she quickly dismisses the thought of it being a malevolent intent or anything alike. She does not receive an answer yet, however.
Ruri flushed, she thought everyone knew what a Pokemon was
"P-pokemon? They’re…um…I’m not sure how to explain this…"
About to drown in her own embarassment, she nearly missed the other girl’s question.
"Soccer? I…I’ve played a little with my brother before…but I’m not very good at any sports…."
Although she remained as confused as earlier after the pokemon trainer gave a vague answer; she simply nodded and simpered along till her interest was piqued by Ruri's reply.
"Ah! Do you know the basics of soccer?"
With her eyes widened, Touko looked at Ruri with excitement. No matter what she'd say, the red-head would take this as a opportunity to play soccer. It's some kind of way to introduce herself too, she thought.
A little alarmed by the other girl’s response S-she doesn’t know what a Pokemon Trainer is? Ruri nodded quickly.
"Y-yes! Someone who raises and travels with Pokemon!"
Touko Zaizen…a cheery name for a cheery girl… Ruri thought, she hoped desperately they could be friends.
"Y-yeah!"
Touko couldn't help but show off the confused face as before, only opening her mouth once again to inquire further.
"Er... and a Pokemon is...?" Simpering a little, the red-head tries to converse with the trainer; although she can't really tell whether she's successful or not.
"Hey Ruri, do you play soccer?"
When the other girl turned around, Ruri returned the smile.
"I’m Ruri…a Pokemon Trainer, nice to meet you!"
It had been a while since she had introduced herself this way and Ruri held her breath, hoping that it hadn’t been too informal.
"Pokemon Trainer?"
Before she introduces herself, Touko gives the trainer a scrutinising and confused gaze, arching an eyebrow.
"...what's that?"
Moving on, the red-head gives her yet another cheerful smile, attempting to lighten the mood. "Well, my name's Touko Zaizen. Nice too meet you too, Ruri!" She says, her voice sounding as energetic as ever.
everchanging-fate started following you
"H-hello!! Thank you very much for the follow!" Ruri flushed…I should be used to this she thought “I hope we can get along!"
Touko almost overheard what the stranger was saying; only shifting her gaze to her when she realises the other person's presence. She felt that it was a little bit rude of her- though she dismisses the thought of apologising quickly, greeting the other with a smile on her face.
"Oh, hey there! What's your name?"

The way her eyes shifted from the ball to him made it obvious that she was taking his words seriously and was thinking about trying soccer out seriously. He wondered if she had any experience in playing soccer. If anything, she appeared to be a huge fan of video games. Someone who did not have a passion for games wouldn’t be as immersed as she was when he first called out for her. His answer was answered when she placed the ball on the ground and attempted to kick it. Every time she kicked, the ball would barely move and he wondered if this was the first time she played soccer. Still, she was not a hopeless case. Everyone, even someone like him, started from kicking the ball. He folded his arms, his eyes locked on her for a moment as he analyzed her timing, speed and power. “It’s not impossible."
Uncrossing his arms, he walked towards her before lightly pushing the ball closer to her. "Take three steps towards the ball, pull your leg thirty degrees back and make a forty-five degree with your foot before kicking with less power than before." He took a few steps back and folded his arms as he waited for her to execute his instructions. The words that came out of the middle schooler’s mouth might make him sound ridiculous, but he knew what he was saying. He could envision how high the ball would go and how far from the instructions he gave her.
"Try it out."
When she heard what the stranger told her, her eyes lighten up, while reminiscing about all the games she's played. "That's the very same phrase the protagonist always says...", she suddenly exclaims, thinking out loud without realising it herself. Her eyes spot the soccer. She calmly picks up the ball that he pushed closer to her, gaze shifting to him once more as he begins talking.
"Take three steps towards the ball, pull your leg thirty degrees back and make a forty-five degree with your foot before kicking with less power than before."
Did the middle school student observe her kicking the ball the whole time? No, that wasn't really something she should thinking about. It was his ability that surprised her. He couldn't possibly have calculated all of that by just watching her - he wasn't even attending something alike her school. Quite fascinated by the stranger's abilities and rendered totally speechless, the gamer completely forgot about kicking the soccer ball as she was told to. Only after having heard him telling her to do it again, Chiaki was roused from her semi-slumber.
The gamer first puts down the ball; taking three steps back right after that. She steadies the backpack straps once more, head rising as well as eyes narrowing. Jogging her memory by looking at the stranger again, she ponders about what he's told her, executing it as precisely as she can. Less power, she mumbles to herself, lifting her leg, readying herself for a kick. As her foot connects with the ball, the high-school student realises that she's actually hit the soccer ball, kicking it towards the goal. Her eyes widen, still staring at the soccer ball that was kicked by her into the goal, she was unable to comprehend how it could have possibly happened.
"...!" Chiaki gasps quietly, her hands still on the shoulder straps, her gaze slowly shifting to the stranger.
“Oh, it’s okay, miss.” she gave a smile.
Kougyoku was out on a stroll in the Kou Empire and suddenly somebody bumped into her, somebody unfamiliar. By the looks of her clothing, she was from somewhere she didn’t know of. But the thing she was most curious about was that item she had been holding and pressing on. Was it some sort of magic tool? The princess had never seen such a thing her entire life but it looked interesting.
“It’s nice to meet you miss, my name is Ren Kougyoku. And I am the eighth princess of this empire.” her smiled brightened. “May I inquire what that item in your hand may be? I have never seen such a thing before.” she went beside the girl and saw her video game. “How interesting. And such bizarre design. Is this some sort of magic your pulling off? Or is it something else?” to see the brightness and graphics of the game impressed her.
"Mhm..."
Her eyes remain locked to her gaming console as she spoke, sounding almost repelling. Only after the person she's bumped into has stated to be a princess, the gamer turns her attention to her. Her eyes widen after darting a glance at the red-head, noticing that her attire was completely different from what she expected to be. It was not only the self-claimed princess' attire that baffled the gamer, but also her surroundings; everything was so very ... different. Where has she walked to? It didn't seem to be a convention or anything of that sort, neither did she remember going to anything like that. Unable to give herself an answer, the high-school student decided to first finish her gaming business, as starting too many things and never ending them is quite bad - she could tell from her own experience. Her fingers move very quickly as well as accurately, smashing the buttons of her gaming device as she listens to the stranger talking. Already thinking about what to reply, Nanami repeats the very same moves once more, until the screen shows bright pixel letters reading 'VICTORY!'. The victory theme music plays, the curtain fall, following by the results that are given at every completion of a game. As she catches a glance at her results, she sighs, narrowing down her eyes.
"...My name is Chiaki Nanami." The beigette says after a while of pondering, eyes now focused on Kougyoku.
"... It's a gaming console, and I'm afraid that you're mistaken, princess..." She wasn't really capable of explaining everything, but yet she wanted to in a way - she doesn't always get people interested into things she likes. "It's a bit difficult to explain the whole mechanism in a nutshell, but if you would like to, I'd like to show how you play games on it."
With a smile, the gamer takes out another gaming console from her cat backpack, as if she's already prepared herself for something like that. Her hand offers the princess the other electronic device, as if inviting her for a round of playing video games.

Her eyes catch glimpse of the ticking clock, only then realising how late it already is. Haruna removes her glasses, brushing away some of her bangs. It would be great to take a break after all that work, she thought, stretching herself. She stands up, walking towards the door, hands reaching for the doorknob. Peeking out of the door rim, she was confronted by nothing but pitch black darkness. Only little of the light could reach out into the corridor, exposing her silhouette clearly within little proximity. Fortunately, she didn't rouse anyone from their supposed slumber as she tiptoes her way out with the freshly written report and glasses.
The bluette decided to take a walk in the closest park. It was the quickest and best idea she had; anything else would have been impossible for her to reach or to do. Her hands were holding onto the report about her team's training sessions and needs when she contently hopped along the path. She wore a bright smile on her face; her eyes were closed as she hums.
Upon arriving in the park, her eyes search for a comfortable bench to sit at. Once she had a look around, she decides to sit down on a bench where she was able to look at the starry sky clearly. The manager of the Raimon team readies herself for analysing, putting on her glasses. "Alright!", Haruna enthusiastically says while going through all of the papers once again.
The manager was analysing it thoroughly; one could see that her devoted demeanor maintained throughout the process as she goes through all the pages slowly and detailed, without losing her rag amidst.
"Hm..."
She repeated the very same action once again until she was certain that there was nothing else to check. Happily, she puts the papers away, leaning back and gazing at the stars.
"They're all so pretty...", she mumbles, talking to herself.
What she didn't realise however, was that someone else has followed her.
踊り子もるさん
Right after the school bell rings, Fubuki packs his bags and hurries out the classroom. Just as he planned to, the middle school student heads as fast as he can towards the soccer pitch. However, he stops as he arrives. Instead of what he expected to be a place to find all his comrades already training, he was only confronted by the very opposite. Although part of what he initially intended to do was to train on his own, but this wasn’t what he’s expected.
Sighing, he walks to the bench, putting the things he’s brought with him on it, then searching himself a little space on the grass he could sit on. What he didn’t notice was that a soccer ball was flying towards him, its speed slowing down when it rolled down the stairs. His grey eyes then spot the very same soccer ball rolling towards him in a very slow pace. Arching an eyebrow before wondering whether to pick it up or not, he places one of his hands on the soccer, lifting it up as a soft smile tugs at the corner of his mouth. He turns his head in order to look for its owner, who he couldn’t find even after a couple of minutes. Shifting his gaze from left to right and right to left, he checked his surroundings for pedestrians and the alike, who- to his relief- he couldn’t find anywhere as well. The soccer player throws the ball up high and jumps, his foot connecting with the soccer ball as he turns mid-air.
“Eternal”, he shouts as he readies his kick, “Blizzard!”
DONK!
Shortly after his kick, the satisfied smile that has formed on his face fades. Instead, his eyes widen in shock with the realisation that his kick must have hit a person. It was for sure that Fubuki didn’t aim for anything specific, nor did he intend to do so. The greyette hurries to where the soccer flew to, only to find the stranger rubbing his forehead, soccer ball rolled to the side. “Ah! Are you alright?”, he asked, his voice sounding troubled, albeit sheepish. Hopefully the stranger didn’t mind what has happened; or at least he hoped so.
While it was obvious that she was not a soccer player, even someone who never kicked a ball should have been able to catch the ball he gently threw at her. Or so he thought. He was stunned when the ball made contact with her head - and even more shocked when she fell from of the impact. Immediately rushing to her side, he was relieved to see she was still conscious and not bleeding. The impact wasn’t as bad as he thought it would be. “Sorry. I thought you would catch the ball. You aren’t too injured are you?” This told him that she had a really slow reaction rate. Not being able to catch the ball or move out of the way before it hit her - was her head even on earth when he was speaking to her? “…” She appeared to be more concerned over her console than herself. She wasn’t even attempting to get up or yell at him for throwing the ball. Is she that passionate about video games? He helped her when she pushed herself to stand up. He blinked when she unexpectedly picked the soccer bal up. Was she going to get revenge by throwing it at him?
She appeared to be lost in her thoughts as he stared at the soccer. He didn’t know whether to be concerned or analytical over her behaviour. He lightly smirked. “Heh, impossible you say? Nothing is impossible. Try soccer and you’ll see how fun it really is.” Kidou took his hand out and motioned her to kick the ball at him. If she wasn’t going to believe him through words, then it was better to show her through soccer.
Of course the beigette has her reasons for whatever she claims to be, but for whatever reason her mind has changed for just a second. Nothing is impossible, the stranger said. It was almost alike the conversation in the video game she just played. Not that she'd try out something that she's aware of being impossible just because of what a middle school student told her, but the plain thought of trying something else aside from video gaming isn't that bad. She does reminisce about going to the beach with her classmates and spending time over there. It was quite nice; the weather was good, everyone had their fun, but after not too many minutes she ended up playing her video games again. And it was not after a short span of time when she was found lying on the beach and asleep when the others returned from swimming.
Her eyes darted a glance at the stranger and quickly looked back at the football. Perhaps she can try it for once; in spite of her unwillingness of doing anything else aside from gaming. Breathing in and out, the high school student closes her eyes for a while, and as if she's decided herself for something, she moves some steps back. Chiaki puts the football in front of her. She raises her head for one last time to check whether he's still there.
Attempting to kick, the gamer tries to imagine how it's done, imitating it by taking a few steps back, and running towards it. Even though she did kick, her foot didn't even touch the football.
"..."
Sighing, she proceeds to try once again, only to receive the same result as before. The gamer had felt something she hasn't felt since awhile before; perhaps it was anger of not being able to do something that made her continue to try out the same move over and over again. Only after trying a couple of times, her gaze shifted towards the stranger and eyelids closed as she yawned.
"..."
"Impossible is not quite the fitting word to describe it", Chiaki mumbled nonchalantly, "perhaps it is even worse than that, I think."
The lack of answer from the girl made him wonder if she could even hear his voice. He didn’t immediately jump to the conclusion that she was ignoring him. She appeared to be completely immersed in her video game. It reminded him of a certain soccer idiot he knew. Tearing his gaze away from her, he walked towards the pitch before placing the ball in front of him. He didn’t know when the next match was going to be, but he wanted to prepare a few new strategies for Raimon. He didn’t have time to be distracted by the young gamer. He took a step back before kicking the ball directly at the goal. He did it over and over again, trying to get his head to work as he kicked the ball towards the net. If the defender moves that far behind then that’ll leave a blind spot. But how long will it take for the enemy to notice that?
Pulling his leg back to kick, he stopped right before his foot connected with the ball when he heard a voice from his right. Kidou shifted his gaze to look at her. Better? Playing on the console meant that she was missing out on what made soccer so enjoyable. The joy of scoring a goal with the team, watching yourself and everyone grow together, seeing everyone’s hard practice pay off - these were not something a game would ever be able to offer. He was determined to show her that. He picked the ball up and took a few steps towards her before speaking. “That’s what I expect to hear from someone who doesn’t understand how fun soccer can be.” Making sure she wasn’t lost in her own world, he gently tossed the ball towards her. He lightly smirked. “Let me show you how fun soccer really is.”
Certainly surprised by his words, the gamer's gaze shifted from her pause screen towards the apparent middle schooler, whose height was about hers. The gamer however, oversaw the football that was tossed towards her; resulting in it hitting her head not as gently as it was thrown. When her head hit the ground, the first thing she did after brevity of silence was to check whether her gaming device remained undamaged as it was. She surely was relieved to see that it was, despite the heavy fall she had. However, as her fingers push on the power button, it didn't react at all. Almost shocked, the beigette had to realise that for whatever reason, most probably due to its low battery life, the console didn't restart anymore. Chiaki tried to help herself up with her hands. She steadies herself as she picked up the football that has rolled to the side, shortly after having put her gaming console back to where it belongs. Now that she's actually seeing the one she has been talking to, she was able to tell that this person does seem quite alike a middle school student, as his cape and goggles really do hint on that. Aside from seeing his equipment as a rather childish feature, it piqued her interest in a way as well as the cape resembled the one of a certain fictional hero's. Initially, the gamer actually planned to ignore what he has said, but after realising that her gaming console ran out of battery, there wasn't really another thing she could entertain herself with. Averting her gaze from the stranger, the high-school student stares at the football she just picked up.
"..."
Her eyes examined the football for a while, as if she was looking for something suspicious. She opens her mouth, then closing it shortly after as if she was smothering a yawn. The beigette rubbed her eyes.
"Impossible."
