I’m fine, thank you.
Alright, good then. Oh, Here are your books. Everett handed over the books that he had collected to the girl. I'm Everett, by the way.
"Can I have a go?" She shrugged and slid onto the seat, he was sitting on. She gave a light smile to him then rested her hands on the keys. She gave a slow but complicated melody, her fingers touching each key perfectly and precisly. She stopped through mid-tune. "S-Sorry…I get carried away..I’m Dominique."
"Be my guest" Everett said as he slid to the other edge of the seat so the girl had room. He listened quietly as the girl played a slow intricate melody across the ivory keys. "Don't apologize, you're quite good." He nodded at her introduction. "I'm Everett."
Waiting Game || Everett&Rebekah
Although she wasn’t really studying anything or looking at anything, Rebekah was still lost in thought as she stared at the books in front of her. Perhaps zoning out was the best way to describe what she was doing, in fact that was exactly what she was doing, but the last thing she wanted to do was admit that to herself since she was supposed to be studying. She began flipping aimlessly through a book in front of her, not really even looking at the information on the page, when a voice interrupted her. “What?” she questioned immediately, not immediately processing what the guy in front of her had said, “Oh, no, go ahead,” she replied with a slight gesture of her hand. Eventually she’d need the book, but she’d need to figure out what she was even writing about before she would have a use for it.
Everett raised his eyebrow, "Ok. Thanks" he repiled as he picked up the book, shaking it out of the pile. He didn't know if the girl had understood him, or if she even knew which book he was asking to borrow. She seemed to be pretty distracted. Not like Everett could blame her, he sometimes hated working on his own school assignments, but lately he'd been putting as much effort into them as he could so that he could avoid thinking about his actual life. "Are you sure I can borrow it? You seem to be working on something pretty important if you have all these books." He scratched the back of his head, pausing. "But, anyway. Thanks. I'll bring it back as soon as I'm done, so hopefully you don't need it before then."
Beth had been wandering the halls, biding her time as her next class wasn’t until after lunch. The silence helped soothe her thoughts as she debated whether or not she should let her best friend know about her… problem as it didn’t seem to be going away any time soon. Her senses were brought back as she heard a piano playing. Curiously, she followed the noise and stood at the side of the piano, frowning a little when he stopped. “Oh, sorry… did I disturb you?” She adjusted the bag strap on her shoulder. “That was wonderful, by the way.”
Everett looked around from where he was sitting noticing the girl who had entered the room. "Oh, hi. I didn't see you there." Everett shrugged, "No you didn't disturb me I was just playing around." He scratched the back of his head, "Thanks, I wasn't really playing anything special." He trailed off, not knowing what to say, especially since he didn't know how long she had been standing there already.
"You’re good." Dominique mused standing on the door frame. "People don’t really play the piano anymore, it’s kinda’ sad." She frowned and went towards it, brushing her hand over the oak. "My mother used to teach me, well I say teach—rather force…but I enjoyed it anyway. You seem like you know your stuff." Dominique gave a slight smirk to the boy.
Everett turned around. "Oh, thanks," he said somewhat taken aback. He really hadn't played anything too fancy, just a simple melody. Nodding he watched as she crossed the room, "My mother taught me as well, but eventually I just started playing on my own." He vaguely recognized the girl, so she must be in his house, but she wasn't in his year.
Thanks. Um, sorry if I hurt you.
Oh, you didn't hurt me don't worry. Are you alright?
She leaned against the top of the piano, shaking her head. “I can’t really play that much,” she admitted honestly. “I tried to learn once but got bored and then went to learn bass guitar, granted I got bored of that as well.” She rambled, “I just like to listen, it’s very soothing. How long have you been playing for?”
Everett raised his eyebrow, but smirked. "I'm sure I would have stopped too if my mom hadn't forced me when I was younger. She started me when I was about 6 or 7. But now, I'm glad she did. I agree it's very soothing, and it's a convenient way to get away from everyone once in a while."
Mia had always found the piano calming. Granted, her repertoire of songs was Mary Had A Little Lamb and the Super Mario Brothers theme song, she found the idea of running her fingers along the keys and creating something brand new. A wave of sounds that she had created by herself. It was like writing, albeit easier. Walking to the choir room, the Gryffindor stopped in the doorframe seeing someone in there already. Leaning against the frame, she closed her eyes and listened. “Not half bad, Moore.”
Everett turned around, seeing Mia standing in the doorway. Both of them were in the same year, and Mia had been in some of Everett's classes, but the relationship wasn't much past that. "Thanks, Hastings." Everett swung one leg over the piano bench, so that he was facing her more straight on. "Did you want to have a go?"
No way— Ravenclaw are going to snatch the cup this year, Gryffindor are missing half of their players already.
I'm glad someone else agrees with me. We've been flying better than anyone so far this season.
*Bumps into your character, dropping her papers*
I’m so sorry!
It's not a problem. Here's I'll help you with those.
Everett sat down at the piano, he wasn't sure how many people ever used it, but his mother had taught him when he was little, and he had always enjoyed it. He poked at the keys lightly, noting that it was only slightly out of tune. He played a short melody, but then stopped, placing his hands in his lap.
Staying || Open
Everett was sitting at his desk, writing out notes from his text book, but he couldn't stay focused. Not with what he knew was coming up. It was October 1st today, so it was the start of his, now, least favorite month of the year. He stopped, putting his quill down a little too hard, causing a few drops of ink to flick across his page of notes. He sighed slightly to himself and looked out the window. It was a cloudy day, which he liked at least, mostly because it made everything seem in sharper focus, not washed out by the harsh sunlight. He knew that he wasn't going to be productive with his school work, having too much on his mind, so he decided to go out of the castle and down to the Black Lake; one of his favorite haunts. He put on a light jacket and stepped out of the dormitory, down the stairs into the Ravenclaw common room. Not many people were there, and those that were didn't stop him. A year ago that would have been an uncommon thing, but Everett knew that wasn't the case anymore. He went as fast as he could, taking various detours and shortcuts that he could think of. He was out the door and onto the grounds before he knew it. He slowed his pace once outside of the castle itself and after a time he reached the lake. he sat down on a rock close to the shore. He had thought on more than one occasion about why he was drawn to the lake so much. He had come up with several different theories, but he never could decide on one. He was lost in thought when he thought he heard something behind him, turning his head around sharply and reaching instinctively inside his coat for his wand, but not immediately drawing it.
Waiting Game || Open
In most instances, Rebekah preferred to study in her own dormitory. It was quiet, usually empty, and therefore there weren’t usually many distractions. Studying was something that was difficult for her to convince herself to do and thus she needed to be able to be assured that nothing would take her attention off of the subject matter. Otherwise, one second she would be studying and the next she would have somehow wasted thirty minutes looking talking to someone that she hardly knew just to do anything but study. Today however, she was having to study in the library since there was no way she was going to check out ten different books and then carry them up what would feel like a thousand flights of stairs to the Gryffindor common room. Instead she was taking residence at once of the larger tables in the library, her books strewn open to random pages across the entirely of it, as she tried to decide where exactly to start her research.
Everett had lost track of time. This had been the first day in a long time where he wasn't in class, wasn't at Quidditch practice, and wasn't obligated to do anything else. He had taken full advantage of this and had gone to the library. He had gone with the intention of studying to get ahead on some of his upcoming assignments, but he had ran across something obscure in his Transfiguration textbook and one thing led to another... Everett glanced up from the book he was currently pouring over, and saw a stack of about 15 books had amassed in front of him, all with random bits of parchment sticking out to save a spot that he had found interesting. He checked his watch. He'd been here for almost 4 and a half hours. He rubbed his eyes, searching the table in front of him for his original assignment. He found it, only then realizing that he hadn't even found the book that he actually needed. He stood up from the table and wandered back down the aisle where he thought he would find it. Of course, with Everett's luck, it was missing. Clenching his jaw in annoyance once, he turned back towards where he had left his things. That's when he passed a girl sitting alone at a table, a pile of books sitting open around her. But judging at how she was starting blankly at them, it didn't look like she was reading any of them. Everett noticed a drawing inside one of the books on the left-most corner of the table. He vaguely recognized it and, glancing at the subtitle just to be safe, realized it was the book he needed. He stopped, abruptly, just at the edge of her table and cleared his throat, "Excuse me, but are you using that book right at this moment?" Nodding in the direction of the book he needed as he looked back at the girl for a response.
