“Do you believe that someone had the audacity to prank me? At work?” Everett remarks. “I’ve had such a nice day unless my boss told me that I was fired for some stupid reason, then later on told me that it was just a joke. It’s not even April 1st anymore!”

The first thing that Jensen ever did whenever he got home was to take his dog out for a walk. He knew that Pocko had been in the small apartment all day long and needed fresh air. Plus, he knew that move had stressed the dog out and he wanted to make him feel as comfortable as possible. 

Pocko was normally a friendly dog. Even toward other animals, the Japanese Spitz never acted out. However, he normally got excited when other humans payed him attention. The two walked around the corner to the pet friendly grocery store. Suddenly, Pocko let out a huge bark whenever he made eye contact with the stranger. Quickly, Jensen gave a light tug on the large dog’s leash. “Shhh.” He snapped. Instantly, Pocko knew he did wrong, which caused him to sit down on the floor. 

“Sorry, he is friendly, he probably just wanted your attention.”

Normally, Everett wouldn’t go out for a walk. But on a day like this, where there was a bit of warmth, he couldn’t help it. So he left his apartment, going to his favorite cafe. Taking the scenic route, Everett went to the park and couldn’t be any more happier when he heard a barking sound coming from behind. Turning around to the noise, Everett’s eyes trailed from the dog to the man holding back on them. Smiling, he slightly shrugged it off. “Oh, don’t worry. I seem to have this dog magnet nowadays.” He jokes.

“I’ll take sweater weather over any other kind… Would rather be too cold than hot, I can’t take the heat. Europe is relatively temperate in climate though, you’re probably on the wrong continent. Just don’t head too far north or it will be sweater weather for nine months of the year.”

“I probably am on the continent this season,” he notes to himself. “I wouldn’t want to wear sweaters for nine months. Any recommendations for vacations in Europe then?”

“I hear Florida is nice this time of year.”

“I know that but lately I’ve gotten sick of the snow and I usually don’t? Maybe a vacation far from here would get my brain back on track.”

Nora usually wasn’t the type to get absorbed in trashy gossip magazines but whoever had been seated at her table prior left a copy of People and she needed something to do while waiting for her coffee and muffin. A quick skim had turned into the brunette completely getting caught up in the latest Hollywood scandal. “Wow, Kanye West is fifty million in debt? Then how the hell does he wear shoes that cost more than my entire two years at college?”

Looking up from his laptop, he realized that Nora had been in front of his table. He waved a greeting at her and listened as to what she said about the magazine, the cover resting on the table. Catching a glance at it, he sees the page Nora flipped at. “Oh god,” Everett gasps slightly. “I could adopt a ton of pets with that money. Not that I would but, oh my god...”

“And what’s wrong with being a vigilante, Everett? I mean, Batman, Green Arrow, Robin Hood, you’d be in very good company." The brunette offered with a small laugh and playful wiggle of her eyebrows. Honestly she hadn’t meant to make him sound like any of the above but getting to Florida the legal way? What fun was that? Letting herself sink further into the plush leather couch the twenty five year old took a look around at the paintings scattered around them. Most of them were unfinished ideas and she’d asked Everett to come over to see if any of them were actually worth finishing. He wasn’t the only artist friend she’d made in Montreal but he was definitely the one who’s opinion she respected the most. "Well of course nothing happened, you were little and probably had parental supervision. But I went when I was nineteen and let’s just say I woke up to find this tattoo with no memory of when or why I got it.” She answered, bringing the wrist of her uninjured arm up to show off her joy tattoo.

Scoffing at the wiggling of her eyebrows, Everett couldn’t help but to nod along to what Nora had to say. “But what does this have to do with being a vigilante vacationing in Florida. I bet Batman sure would like one since he’s always fighting crime.” He slightly lets out a laugh. “Parental supervision my ass. I got lost in Disney and sat in their offices until my parents realized I was missing. I won’t forget the free shit they gave me though. Balloons, a t-shirt that I still have, gotta find that thing. It’s probably hidden under my bed.” He begins to wonder. “But that tattoo story makes me wonder if you were in Las Vegas rather than Florida?” Looking around, he decides to change the subject, just slightly. “Why was I here again? Oh, right, your art.”

Everett begins to think about it. “We could make this work, if both of our schedules are up for it then I’m up for it! Just imagine, two guys from a snow-dreaded land finally experiencing some sunshine. Man, I need that.” He sighs along with Kenny.

“Aww, come on now,  Ev. You wouldn’t leave me, would you? Even if the weather is quite cold, the ladies of Montreal can keep things warm. Trust me.” Ally giggled, shrugging. She was a bit buzzed, having had some drinks before.

He notices the slight change in Ally, the way her speak slowly slurs. But that’s what you got when you’re slight drunk, at least he was becoming a little tipsy as well. “Now why would I leave you all? Especially since I settled in pretty harshly. I don’t wanna restart all over again. I’m just complaining about the weather, that’s all.”

“London.” Olivia said quickly, remembering the months she had spent there as a teenager. “One day it’s peeing down with rain, the next it’s sunny and mild. It rarely snows in London, you should probably relocate there.”

“That’s one place that I could live in, but a vacation there would do. I wouldn’t want the Canadian in me to get lost,” Everett laughs at his own joke. “But I’m that type of person who needs to see all types of weather. I guess you can call me picky for this but that’s just me.”

“Not here, dude. Like, you can take a day trip to the North Pole from here. I hate to break it to you, but if you’re sick of sweater weather, you’re kind of shit out of luck unless you can afford to move. Seattle, maybe? I know it rains a lot over there.”

“But you have no idea,” he tells Darcy. “I got my shorts ready, and my sandals! I might as well be mistaken for a dude living in some tropical place other than Canada if I wore them right now. Might as well throw ‘em away and buy a lifetime supply of sweaters while I’m at it. Now, Seattle sounds nice, I guess, but do you know what it’s like there?”

“I’m gonna go out on a limb and suggest somewhere other than Canada. Did you not understand that you were moving to a frozen tundra when you came out here, or…? Did you get it mixed up with Cancun? I know they have the same first three letters, so I guess that could be an object of confusion if you’re borderline illiterate.”

“Of course, anything other than Canada.” He stresses. “But what about Nova Scotia? It rains, snows, sunshine, like what regular weather is supposed to do. Montreal has such a fucked up weather system. I love snow, believe me, but after a snow storm then randomly comes the sun. Like scorching hot sun. And this started to happen this year.”
