So early in the morning, the surface of the water is glass smooth, the sun shining across it and speckling shiny silver spots across the clear, blue surface, the same color as the cloudless sky above it. Up close, the water is clean enough, although nothing like those lakes where the bottom is visible. If he was looking down on it in the same way now, would it reflect back akin to the mirror it looks like? What would he see? The lakehouse is Jack's get-away, his place to relax in the summer. He hadn't thought it through enough to realize that asking Nico to come could be a mistake.
