happy BIRTHDAY YUGI MUTOU
Another thing I find frustrating about this fandom is how often Atem’s Egyptian identity (everything that comes with it, physical traits, name) is erased in favor of making him a vaguely white guy or Japanese depending on who’s making it. Most notably going by the name Yami. The series revolved around him finding out who he is, and to toss all that out a window is mind blowing to me. Not to mention an even bigger issue: how often it comes across as racist. I’m not saying that everyone who does this is racist. It’s also annoying how Pharaoh Atem merch isn’t as plentiful as Yami Yugi stuff. It’s just… that’s what he actually looks like. Yet, they still don’t even have him available in Duel Links (and I’ve seen a few people be racist about this on the YGO subreddit, not wanting him with his brown skin). Also, it’s just crazy how much the Egyptian stuff in general in DM gets the shaft by both fandom and various people involved in the making of actual content/merch for it.
lmao For Yugi’s Hair always just assumed that for the dye headcanon people that Yugi just had a terrible bleaching accident and thought that looked pretty cool and ran with it
or for the ‘it’s natural’ people it was some kind of vitiligo that Yugi’s trying his best with
tbh i love claiming it’s natural because imagine having hair like that and it’s just there and natural
i love claiming Yugi’s hair is totally natural, and just like that, then when people as me how i show them doodles of Yugi with vitiligo effected bangs and super dark red hair that's been lightened by the sun during summer trips to Egypt with his grandpa
OH HI... THANKS FOR THIS...
It’s me again with the same stuff as ususal
Fuck it. Blue eyes white dragon wine
That's not blue-eyes white dragon
Thats blue-eyes toon dragon
Thats fuckin. Toon wine. I'm screaming.
not pictured: kalim, who also uses mahad’s netflix account but i couldn’t get a good shot of him with shada and isis, so
PUZZLESHIPPING HANAHAKI
CW: BLOOD, FICTIONAL ILLNESS, UHHH IDK WHAT ELSE TO WARN FOR...MENTION OF DEATH
Heres my forray into the hanahaki trope pls enjoy
Oh-kaayy so heres a hanahaki thing. I’ll be real honest with yall, I’m pretty sure I entered some kind of fugue state (or as my friend affectionatly called it: a yuge state) when I drew this because I did it sleep deprived all in one sitting and remember almost none of the process.Do not .do this. Pls sleep its very good for you.
for those of you who, like me, didnt have any idea what all the hanahaki hype was about, its all about that good good unrequited love my dudes. or the perception of unrequited love. Something about flowers starting to grow in ur heart or lungs or something and eventually spreading so much it kills you? Unless you get over it or your love stops being unrequited? Its terminal Love Sickness but with Flowers. Magic Shit. I’m fuzzy on the details. Its good shit tho. One whole chefs kiss to the whole aesthetic.
Now imagine two people who inhabit the same body are in love with each other and think its unrequited. imagine the guilt of knowing you were wrecking a body that isnt yours or of watching your other self suffer thinking its your fault. just...think about it...happy endings of course because I like my angst with a Good Hearty Chaser of Fluff but like...the angst...
sorry yall this weeks just got me feelin A Way
Tfw u 3000 year late to the art trade u were supposed to do. Anyway here u go @theyuugimutou
Have some puzzlebois. It is light jacket weather but Atem is Cold.
no one:
literally no one:
me: Over the course of yugioh’s story, there are 5 duels that share the basic structure “here are two characters we’ve been encouraged to care about; only one one can get what they want/walk away alive”: Atem vs Illusion Joey (man from egypt), Atem vs Kaiba (duelist kingdom), Yugi vs Joey (pier duel), Atem vs Yami Malik (battle city finals), and Yugi vs Atem (ceremonial duel). The first 4 duels on this list, taken together, develop two major themes: “winning is never worth allowing your opponent to die,” and “suicide (even of a noble, self-sacrificing variety) is never the answer–your chip of life is precious, there is only light in life, etc.” These 4 duels also all share the same basic conclusion: rather than accepting that there are only two possible choices (lose and die, or win and let your opponent die), one of the duelists takes a third option and surrenders. By all rights, then, the 5th duel on the list–the ceremonial duel–should have also ended with someone surrendering. In scenario 1, Yugi could have had an opportunity to win, but surrendered to protect Atem’s “chip of life” (as he did in his duels against Kaiba and Joey). In scenario 2, Atem could have originally planned to allow Yugi to defeat & kill him, but chosen at the last moment to surrender as an alternative to self-harm (as Malik did). Either of these scenarios would have provided greater thematic coherence and narrative closure than the canon ending
yugi you dropped this 👑
A new yugioh drawing from Cookie ♥️
Kurama gets to play animal crossing too ;;w;;/
I actually think he would enjoy hybridizing flowers in the game (because it’s really hard and actually involves flower alleles LOL)
Doodles while working on a comic for Kurama! Check it out here
natural enemies
what if yyh but keiko was spirit detective and the girls did more stuff
underrated peak 90s aspect of yu yu hakusho is the fact that kuwabara became further involved with demons and spirit world primarily because his house had a working vcr
Not really part of the flower series this one was purely indulgent. I love spider lilies with all I have. They are the most striking and haunting flower even though their meaning is the afterlife.
