Good morning, I’m thinking about seeing and being seen again.

Thinking about how in episode 1 we get a front row seat to Shane and Ilya’s first intimate moments, and it’s sweet and sexy and fun. How we’re along for the journey as much as they are.

Thinking about episode 2 and we’re watching Ilya watch Shane, but we’re the ones who really see them.

Thinking about episode 4 at Ilya’s house, how we start out so far away before we press in so close, like we’re right there with them. Thinking about how the frottage almost feels too painful to witness, but they don’t let us look away. How Shane and Ilya lock eyes with us at the end of the episode: I see you. Do you see me?

Thinking about episode 5 and how they shut us out of the Tampa hotel room, like what happens there is too fragile and new to let anyone else see.

Thinking about when we’re invited in again during the light of day in episode 6, yet we’re on the outside now. We’re allowed to watch, but they’re the ones who can finally see.

Cliff & Ilya send these back and forth after Ilya moves to Ottawa 😔

Heated Rivalry reread. Here's why I don't believe Ilya when he says he's going to breakup with Shane. He is the one escalating the relationship the entire 2016-17 season.

Tuna meltdown where he invites Shane to stay and then plays 4d chess to try and see if they could be more serious

Shane does initiate feelings conversations during tampa but during that conversation Ilya invites Shane to go on vacation that summer, Shane says no

Ilya starts the non-sexual texting conversations then during one of those asks Shane if he wants to talk on the phone or Skype.

Ilya invites Shane over pre-game and during the playoffs run, both a first for them.

Unlike the show, during that hook up when the head was so good Shane starts asking about home, Ilya does answer Shane's questions about his family and talks about how they financially abuse him (not his words but essentially)

At every step it is Ilya who is taking a step closer to Shane and each time he does he tells himself it means nothing and he just needs this last little bit of Hollander’s attention and then he'll end things. At the point where Shane gets hurt on the ice it is incredibly clear that Ilya is not going to do that because he's lying to himself. I just don't believe him.
