A show where the white male doctor wants to lead the hospital and the staff with kindness, not focus on statistics and dangerous efficiency and money (and AI), unlike the new mean woman of color who wants all those things.
Aka The Pitt and New Amsterdam.
Yes Sophie, this is your birthright. Your dad is actually noble. Unlike all these other mistreated broke maids who don’t deserve shit because they dared to have parents who aren’t of the right bloodline.
Love the show but am getting tired of the constant “man who sleeps around a lot falls for innocent young virgin” every season (although to be fair neither Kate nor Penelope were that much younger than their love interests). I know this is a fantasy version of England where the weather is always nice and there is seemingly no syphilis (and these men somehow never get anyone pregnant). And the whole fantasy is handsome man who can get anyone chooses YOU. But it’s still messed up that it’s every season. Will they ever do one where it’s at the very least more equal?

look i love the turners as much as the next person but they Cannot just keep taking esther's children. there cannot just be a sad asian lady whose sole purpose is to provide adorable children for the perfect white couple. that's insane. bring esther to london and give her some goddamn agency!!!
everyone has been saying nasha was the only person to not ask mickey what it was like to die, but no one is making the connection that she didn’t have to ask bc she already knew. on presumably 3 or 4 occasions, nasha held him as he died an agonizing, horrid death. she was the only person who even thought to give him comfort in those moments. she’d never ask him how it felt, she knows.
that moment when mickey 17 told us nasha stood up for him several times and she's seen in a flashback, angry and demanding a suit so she could sit inside the cryo chamber with him while he dies. and she holds his head in her lap. yeah. that. yeah
Just thinking about how one minute Finn was emphatically declaring to Rey that he was NEVER going anywhere near the First Order again, but the second he sees her being taken by Kylo Ren, he’s screaming and running towards all those stormtroopers without even a second thought.

Something something rey wanting her family despite not really knowing them and desperately wanting that connection to them and really wanting connections and belonging
And finn who was stripped of his family and any and all memory of them and who he was forming really strong connections to the people he cares about and wants to be close to

Am I losing it??? I’m watching a genocide and then the news are telling me oh yay everything is fine now as if people aren’t still dying as if the hospitals are all destroyed and no one can get help as if thousands haven’t been starved to death and I feel like I’m going insane.
literally real life though
But I wonder if we also ignore illness because of our bias toward agency and control. We would like to imagine that we captain the ships of our lives, that human history is largely the story of human choice. Perhaps this is why rumors have swirled for millennia that Alexander the Great died of poisoning even though he almost certainly died of typhoid or malaria. We simply don’t want a world where even the most powerful emperor can be felled by mere infection.
