I just saw somebody refer to Disobedience as the ‘lesbian movie about the two white girls’ with the additional comment that they’re ‘tired of white gays being shoved down their throat’ and while I agree that having more movies about LGBTQ PoC is important, like for the love of fucking God could you maybe not act like a film about Orthodox Jewish lesbians is somehow a study in whiteness or a story that lacks represention, when it’s literally about a minority group with an even smaller, persecuted ethnic minority group?!

Also I have like never seen a lesbian Jewish movie anywhere! Honestly it’s not always about appearance but about the religion and cultural struggles that come with being a lesbian. And I believe that a bunch of Jewish lesbians are going to appreciate this movie a lot! To insinuate that this is just a movie about white lesbians is just stupid as hell because they’re not considering all of the religious nuances and challenges that these lesbians have.

I honestly believe that this movie is going to be really cool and a great look into how much being Jewish women go around a religion that does not want them there!
