Literally parents in the 1990s were flatly not as interested in that gross hyper gendering of newborns that most millenial parents force on their kids. Its so weird seeing cute posts of parents celebrating their nonbinary or trans kid but followed by the parent saying “you know how it is, you find out the sex, you plaster the wall pink, buy tons of makeup for her, lots of pretty dresses, so many dolls! But sometimes you get it wrong :)” you should have never done any of that in the first place you fucking psychopaths! Do people even fucking buy pants for female children anymore? When i was a toddler and small child my parents kept my sister and me in sweat suits so we didn’t have to worry about being uncomfortable or getting good clothes super dirty, and I think I wore them until I was maybe seven or eight?

I remember it starting when I was maybe 17 years old I started noticing you couldn’t buy sweatpants in the girls’ and infants’ section of stores. Everything was leggings and jeggings and everything had fucking ruffles on the ass. Even back then I was like “what purpose does this serve except to tell you the humongous shitty diaper youre about to handle came from a female ass”

I was a child in the 60s and 70s and my clothes were both pretty and practical - trousers and dresses, things my mum made, all sorts of colours all comfortable, all chosen as much for the weather as anything else. I had only one “little girls shouldn’t wear trousers” incident and that was from an old, bullying teacher, and my mum (who I wouldn’t call a feminist) came to the school and ripped her a new one. Old fool wanted me to wear a skirt over my trousers, ffs.

Yeah. It’s pretty disturbing how millennials and Gen Zers, the self proclaimed “fuck the gender binary” generations, uphold gender roles more than their Gen X parents ever did.

I was a child in the 90s and I can count on one hand the amount of times my parents tried to force me to do something feminine.

When I stopped wanting to wear dresses at school and to formal events, they accepted it. My mom was a bit disappointed, but only because she handmade mine and my sister’s dresses herself and liked doing so.

My bedroom was never pink, even as a baby. It was green. My mom really liked green back then.

When all my friends were boys and we played video games and kickball in the street and climbed trees all day, my parents accepted it.

When I liked trains more than dolls, my parents got me a fucking Thomas the Tank Engine birthday cake.

When I wanted to wear a vest and tie to prom, they weren’t thrilled, but they accepted it. And you know what? I don’t even care they were bummed, because we all have this image of our daughters going to prom in a beautiful gown. They got that with my sister a few years later anyway, so.

I was a tomboy and not once did my parents ever think that actually made me a boy on the inside. They just knew I was a tomboy. I was the tomboy and my sister was the girly-girl. Still is that way today. I’m also a lesbian and my sister is straight.

It was extremely rare that they ever told me “that’s not for girls”. No, I got that message outside of the home. Say what you want about the 90s, and even the early 2000s, the 2010s and the 2020s are more like the 1950s than the 1990s ever fucking were.

My mother was “concerned” that my “tomboy phase” was still present at 13 years of age. She didn’t at all like that I wasn’t into most “girly” things, especially not makeup or hairstyles, but at the same time she never prevented me from doing the things I did like and even bought me presents relating to them. I’m 32 going on 33. Gen X parents (my mother had me in her teens) really weren’t like the parents of today.

This is the reason to argue to vehemently against misinformation. There are people who are either uninformed themselves or outright liars who spread the idea that “sex change” surgery results in anything close to the real thing.

These people will tell you “neo-vaginas” are indistinguishable from the actual female organ. Even gynecologists can’t tell the difference! They’ll downplay or else are completely unaware of the need for dilation and the fact that a “neo-vagina” will close up if not maintained. Because the body knows it’s a wound, not an organ.

I’ve even seen some people insist that actual post-menopausal women have to dilate which is utter nonsense.

This brutally honest account is why the post-op trans suicide rate is so high. They were sold a lie and only realized it when it was far too late.
