Pushing aside the compliment to her name, Yin’s confusion became more obvious than usual, her pale lips parting just slightly as her pink hues blinked gingerly at the male,
"A pick up line?" she questioned, having never been hit on before. She’d certainly heard similar lines being used on other people, but never on her. Not once.
Shaking her head at his apology, as if to silently say it was fine, she directed her eyes forward, staring at the ground before her,
"It wasn’t cheesy." though that obviously wasn’t the main point.
"B-but it wasn’t-.."
Just let it go Bertl.. Sighing and groaning, Bertholdt leaned back again in his swing. He couldn’t talk to girls, guys, anyone. He felt too nervous or awkward, and would mess up anytime he spoke. Very few people were an exception to this. That of course being his childhood friends, Berwick, Reiner, who he was fighting with, and Annie. Besides that? He was screwed.
"Why can’t I just have one normal day-..”
Hearing his comment, Yin was hit with a feeling of… Guilt? This caused her to lower her voice to a quiet volume—almost a whisper, as she continuing looking forward,
"I’m sorry." though it sounded like almost a whisper, her tone was almost flat, yet still managed to hold something of an apologetic tone to it. No, they didn’t know each other, so Yin had no right to say she knew him, but by the sound of his tone, Bertholdt was having a rough time.
That being the case, Yin hesitantly reached over, placing her hand on his shoulder as something of a comforting gesture.
Bertholdt sighed, shaking his head slowly. “Don’t be, it was my fault. You don’t have a reason to be sorry.” Tilting his head to the side, he yawned slightly before swinging lightly. It wasn’t that bad, acting like a kid like this. He didn’t get the chance to often. Between studies, track, work, and dealing with stress, there was almost no room for this type of fun.
He stopped for a moment. In that moment, he felt Yin place her hand on his shoulder, and as just a reflex, he flinched. Bertl looked over at her with an apologetic smile before looking back down.
"Sorry-.."
"I don't understand," she flatly started, turning her head a little more than before, in his direction, her hand remaining on his shoulder for a few moments longer before allowing it to slip off, and go back to her lap, as per her usual sitting position.
"Why are you apologizing?" she continued, ending with a questioning tone, her eyes not exactly directed at the male, but nearly in his direction, and giving an intent look of confusion from his random apology, her lips still parted just slightly as she waited for his explanation.
Far From Normal//All-the-strikes
"Pepper spray you?" Yin repeated back, a confused tone in her voice. Never in her life had she carried any kind of weapon on her. She’d never needed to, really. Although, she usually had some kind of contact with someone, as well.
Shaking her head, finally, Yin went silent, waiting to hear the other’s footsteps moving closer to her, not moving from her spot, yet. This man didn’t seem like a threat, but if he proved to be, she could somehow escape around the tree to slow him down, and get away.
“Alright, I’m comin’ over.”
Twigs that were along his route to her snapped under his weight making Lavi more nervous than he had really thought such a simple action would be. Walking towards a woman should be easy, but something about her seemed off and the city being on edge lately… Still, he held his hands up for her to see as he moved closer, assuring her that anxiety on her part would be unnecessary.
Now being but only two feet of distance from her, the redhead could see— even with only one good eye— that she was stunning. Everything was so foreign compared to the women he’d ever met. Her eye’s brought memories of the pink, velvety flowers he’d bring to his mother as a boy. She’d been the only friend he’d had growing up due to his deformities, but that hadn’t bothered him any, he was happy to have the daily trip home from school being something to look forward to. Even if this young woman with starlight hair hadn’t been too warm, nor cold, with him— her eyes already brought a comfort.
“Yeah,” he tried to break the ice a bit,” y’know pepper spray. Ya shoot crazy people in the eyes with it, or somethin’…” Lips twisted into a frown as the cool air nipped at his skin, and, after a few moments, he pulled off his leather jacket to give to her. “Here— you need it more than I do bein’ out here dressed like that. Also, my name is Lavi… I just realized I never gave it to ya.” A lame chuckle left him as he held out the garment to her.
As she listened, the silverette could hear twigs snapping under the male's feet, listening as the small snaps got a little louder, indicating the male was nearing her, though carefully, probably so he could show to Yin that he was of no threat to her.
Not realizing it was his coat he was holding out, Yin held one hand out, palm to the sky, not knowing what he was giving her, but assuming it was something much smaller than a coat, as she listened to him talking, introducing himself to her.
"Lavi..." she muttered to herself, putting his name into her memory bank before introducing herself,
"My name is Yin." She spoke in a flat tone, as if her name were a boring part of her.

I need to get part of an assignment done for History, so I'll be slow with replies.

Blinking lightly at the male’s random question, Yin turned her head in his general direction, an almost confused look on her pale, usually blank features, a few moments passing before she brought a hand up to her chest,
"My chest… It starts feeling tight when something feels wrong to me…" Of course, that was mainly a hunch for her, seeing as she’d lived most of her life as a doll, being ordered by people, and not doing anything unless told to do so, resulting in these feelings being very new and very strange to her.
"But… When something is right… I just feel like it is. I feel like… If I don’t go with those feelings, I’ll regret it."
Bertholdt stared at the other in slight shock. That expression soon melted into a soft smile, and as he bowed his head, he let out a small chuckle. This girl was defiantly different, that’s for sure.
"That’s an interesting way to put it, I suppose."
Leaning back on his swing, he looked up at the dark sky, littered with bright, blinking starts. Or maybe they were just airplanes, or something. He didn’t know anymore, nor care in that moment.
"My name’s Bertholdt. If you want, you can call me Bertl or something. That’s what some people I know do."
"Bertholdt." she repeated, putting it into her memory bank, though she doubted that was necessary, what with her living situation. The only reason she needed to remember any names was if they ended up being on the Syndicates hit list, or something.
Nevertheless, she introduced herself back,
"My name is Yin." in most situations, revealing her ‘real’ name was probably a mistake. If anything, she should have given her old name, ‘Kirsi’. Too late, now.
"Yin? That’s pretty." Bertholdt said with a small nod. Even though he lived in Asia, pretty recently actually, he’d only known one other Asian girl besides this Yin girl. Mikasa Ackerman was the name, They got along pretty well until she tried to kill him a few times. The thought brought shivers down his spine.
"Do you come here often?" Bertholdt stopping moving on his swing as soon as the words came out of his mouth. His face darkened with embarrassment. He of course, tried to fix the damage. "I-I didn’t mean for it to sound like a cheesy pick up line! I’m sorry-.."

Pushing aside the things he had said, aside from his name, Yin turned a little, though she stayed in her spot, next to the tree, now placing her other hand to it while the one she had removed went back to her side, as she directed her eyes at Lavi, more.
"I’m not hurt, and no one is giving me trouble." She spoke in a now monotone manner, wondering if she should continue and tell him she was just lost, and had no way of contacting anyone she knew.
"I don’t know where I am." she admitted, almost in a random tone, as if to just simply state the fact, and not as if it were a problem, not expecting any real help from the male.
Her reasoning for being in the company of the trees was just as boggling as the ache of his eye deformation. Rubbing it gingerly, so as not to shift the safety of his eyepatch, Lavi bit his lip worrying about the handicap of only having one good eye.
"Hey, if I come over t'try and help ya out-- you won't pepper spray me to death or anything, right?"
"Pepper spray you?" Yin repeated back, a confused tone in her voice. Never in her life had she carried any kind of weapon on her. She'd never needed to, really. Although, she usually had some kind of contact with someone, as well.
