Tumblr’s “Useless Facts You Need to Know” Dept., can you please explain to me what this means? Is it good or bad?

I didn’t see anyone else replying, so forgive me if it’s been said already, but basically, when excited/the hunt instinct has been activated, the cat’s pupils widen to allow more light so the cat can see better and process the best way to attack. This is excitement for play, what we colloquially call “frisky”, but what it basically means is that the Murder Mode has been activated and Something Is Gonna Die. It’s cute in a house cat. A panther looks at you like this and you’re fucked.

Camille paces back and forth, listening to Jonathan's words over the phone.

The warning won't be heeded. Of course it won't be -- she knew this the moment she had put pen to paper... But ah, that was part of the point, wasn't it?

Get her to frenzy, to make stupid, rash decisions. Nothing works better than to force one's enemy into moving too quickly, without full preparation.

"Yeah, she's knocked out cold. Frenzied like you thought. Should I follow?"

"Mmm.... for now. Once Lucy strikes, you'll know exactly what to do."

The shadows seem... unnaturally thick around the entrance to the motel room, strangely substantial. The feeling of eyes prickling on the back of the next can be felt by both of Farrow's companions.

"Bad idea bad idea bad idea." Revas rapidly chants, pulling his hand cannon from its holster.

Cyrus looks around to the shadows and shivers, dropping Farrow and drawing an oversized sword from the scabbard on his back. "This is not a fight you wish to engage in, creature. Leave at once and no harm will come to you tonight."

Revas aims his gun where the shadows are thickest. "Back off, and you won't have to find out why the idiot Brujah keeps us around."

The shadows giggle softly, pooling around their feet.

"Oh...you think I'm afraid of two pretty human boys?" A cool voice follows, full of a malicious amusement. "Your big sword doesn't scare me~"

"It is not for intimidating, creature. It is for killing." Cyrus says, his accent growing stronger as he looks to Farrow's unconscious body. Foolish, of course this must have been the plan all along; either she would act impulsively or her hunting partners would put her down for safety.

Revas is studying the shadows, trying to find where the voice and presence emanates from strongest. He should have told her about the Lasombra in the photo she missed. He just didn't want her to freak out more and try to take this hunt on her own, he was just worried she'd do something impulsive.

"So what are you afraid of, then?" He asks, keep a conversation, maybe he can figure this out. There's practically arithmetic floating around his head.

The sound circles them, very much like a predator circling its prey.

"I think you'll find it very hard to kill me..."

It's on the right now.

"Not very much scares me, dear."

Behind.

"But I suppose you're welcome to try and make me afraid."

A high pitched cackle comes from the left but the shadows strike out at Revas from the right.

Revas makes a spit decision, the voice is on the left and lasombra can manipulate shadows. Shooting what will strike will do nothing. He fires his hand cannon to the left.

Cyrus swings his sword towards the shadows coming to Revas, hoping to disrupt them.

"What do you want, creature?" Cyrus shouts as he swings.

There’s a soft sound of pain, like air being knocked out of someone’s lungs. The shadows draw back to a single point... A young woman with long, curling dark hair stands there. Her dark skin is paled and washed out, her eyes are a deep brown that looks almost red. A slow drip of blood makes its way from a wound in her chest.

“Nice...shot.” She snarls, her fangs bared. “What I want is just... a little bit of fun . A good time. My dear Camille has asked us to... Hm. Keep you busy?”

Revas laughs somewhat nervously. “I told you we weren’t pushovers. If you wanted to keep me busy you could have just bought me a coffee. This is all a bit much.”

Cyrus, not as much of a talker, says nothing; just takes steps to the left, hoping to flank her.

Revas aims his gun again, for where her heart should be. “Though to be honest, if it was really a nice shot, you’d be paralyzed.” He pulls the trigger, as Cyrus steps further, keeping at least one escape route off limits. this would be all but guaranteed if Farrow wasn’t knocked out, damn it all.

"I'm afraid I dont drink...Coffee." She says, clearly referencing the infamous line.

A shadow tendril lashes out at Cyrus as he steps to the left, aiming to take out his hands and render him unable to use his sword. A second spears up from the ground out of Revas's shadow.

"Fuck!" Revas cries out as a shadow digs into the meat of his thigh. His shot goes off, somewhere else. That was his fucking chance. He looks over to Cyrus, pulling off some interesting footwork to keep away from the tendrils, but losing his flanking position in the process.

Warm blood drips his leg, and Revas shifts his weight to the other side. Had he not been training for fights with less than optimal limbs, he'd have gone to his knees. As it stands, he probably will soon if he doesn't end this fight soon. He chances a glance at Farrow, hoping his cries and the smell of his blood would be enough to rouse his sister.

An experienced hunter like Cyrus knows how to put a vampire out for quite a bit though. Though she looks far less 'unconscious' and more 'asleep'. He hopes that's a sign of waking and not one of Torpor.

Cyrus keeps having to back up, swinging his sword at the tendrils but doing little as he's trying to keep them from grabbing his weapon or hands.

The woman cackles, laughing at the sound of the blood as it hits the ground and the smell that rises into the air. Hopefully for Cyrus, he notices the tendril snaking towards his ankles... “Nice shot, pretty boy...” She slinks towards him and then stops suddenly, her eyes narrowing, an expression of...Frustration? Concern? It’s hard to read her face -- but she isn’t *happy* with whatever she heard or felt.

A new project and my...debut on social media.

Finally finished this, the upholstery has been miserably uncooperative, getting the texture right was simply a nightmare. The pillows were easy though.

I think the frame was my favorite part. Sculpting bone is always such a delight, creating delicately intricate shapes from it is one of my favorites.
