these comments are so fucking inappropriate and honestly trivialize a tragic situation.

this girl was sold by her parents into what is sexual slavery dressed up as a marriage, so she tried to kill her husband to escape his abuse, but accidentally poisoned 27 people instead. 17 people died, with at least one victim being a child. Bibi has openly expressed deep regret over having accidentally killed innocent people.

she was sold by her parents, the very people meant to protect her, and made into a sex slave. in her desperation, she made a mistake that cost innocent people their lives. she was then arrested by a legal system that could have prevented all of this by protecting women from sexual slavery in the first place, but won’t. 

she will likely be abused in prison and sentenced to death.

she’s not “queen” or your “new best friend.” she’s a young woman who has been subjected to horrors and, in an effort to fight back, accidentally committed one, a fact that is likely destroying her.

Yep! The man I refer to as my husband? We aren’t actually married. We can’t be.

If I married him, the government would literally expect me to care for him and be his sole source of income. He would lose all of his benefits, including SSDI. Spouses are expected to share income and that effects ALL of his benefits, even his health insurance. We simply can’t afford to be married.

But it goes even further than that. If I were disabled, our incomes would STILL be combined, meaning BOTH of us would have our benefits cut.

For people reviving supplemental income, their benefits can be cut anywhere from 25% of their current income all the way down to 0%

In fact, one of the stipulations of receiving income under the adult disabled child program (which provides benefits for people who were disabled before age 22) is that they LITERALLY never be married.

Disabled Canadian chiming in - it’s the same here. I can even be kicked off disability for living with a romantic partner for longer than 6 months because then I’m considered common-law, and said partners income is deducted dollar for dollar from my benefits. Things like alimony, spousal support, and child support are also deducted dollar for dollar from my benefits - so you also get in shit for having previous relationships. If I have a roommate, they can request I PROVE that I’m not in a relationship with them by getting character references to swear it. Essentially, anyone whose unlucky enough to love me, is considered my financial caretaker. It fucking sucks.

SAY HER NAME! More information emerged today in the murder of Layleen Polanco Xtravaganza, a 27-year old Afro-Latinx tran woman found dead this past weekend in her cell on Rikers Island. Layleen was being held in relation to a 2017 misdemeanor case involving sex work and small drug possession. She was being held on a $500 bail that she could not afford to pay. Her case would be exempt from bail based on new laws starting in January 2020, but just like Rikers Island is scheduled to be closed within the next decade, future policy could not save Layleen in the present. She was being held in solitary confinement at the time of her death. Layleen Xtravaganza was scheduled to be released on Thursday. She is the 10th Black trans women to die this year, and the second trans woman in as many weeks to die in state custody. Rikers Island is hell on earth, but for that matter, so is the entire carceral system in the United States. We demand an immediate end to cash bail, which keeps poor an working class people indefinitely incarcerated without trial or conviction. We also demand an end to the prison state that habitually abuses our trans sisters and brothers.
