Random thoughts of day about how Kay and ND-5 have both a prominent mark on their chest in a very similar position.
ND has that big scar from a blaster shot and the blinking red light in the top left corner of the scar is really reminiscencing of beating heart.
And Kay has that big constallation tattoo on the left side on her chest/collarbone and shoulder. Not sure what the tattoo is supposed to be (star constellation?) but it looks very technical/mechanical imo.
Ok but also, his mark is that of a living being, a beating heart. And hers is kind of droid like, with the tech looking design. They both carry a little part of each other in a way. Plus that scene where she has to literally fix his ābroken heartā. Am I not supposed to ship these two?

Always, from my distance-respectfully
What an odd way to say what is unspoken.
I love you, I have loved you, and will continue to be exactly as I am, where I am loving you. I will wait for you in every lifetime even though our stories may never intersect again. I will always save a space for you in my world with the deepest of admiration, unending respect, and boundless gratitude. I do not deserve more than you, and I shall not look for more.
I, on the other hand, will not do the same. Some odd part of my heart, mind, and soul will have the memories of you tattooed there; but you shall not remain. I am letting go and will slowly overcome the fear that we will meet again.
Using tumblr as my angsty journal. Itās been awhile since Iāve done that lol. The 2000s were fun.
Itās not that I couldnāt write in an actual journal. I guess tumblr just feels easy and familiar and empty since a bunch of people vacated during the great purge of 69.
So first entry-
I donāt give a singular expletive if anyone engages or sees this. Itās for me. Iām okay and happy. Iām just stressed and frustrated too. Iāve been unemployed for coming on a year. Not by my choice. Iām currently doing that whole self-evaluation adult thing where you figure out how to take the next step forward. It sucks, and itās hard. I have an amazing support system, and I am so lucky and grateful for that. I just want to be successful in my industry and payback/properly thank everyone who is continuing to support me at this time. I should absolutely be out on the street right now, but Iāve got people that believe in me somehow which is cool.
Iāll be damned if I donāt make them proud someday. I will. Itās a promise.
Until then- my largest current complaints are that Iām about to be on that sacrificial time of the lunar cycle. Also- I have all these gorgeous plants that are very expensive to maintain as a broke woman. Also- my taxes brutally beat me to a pulp this year. I couldāve gone into hibernation after sorting those outš«
First world complaints. I will put on the adult woman pants and muscle through. However, I will allow myself 10 minutes to lay on my carpet and be sad first.
Authentic photo included just because I feel like itās good to share what life is like when things are hard sometimes. No smiles or filters- just genuine face feelingsš¤·š½āāļø hey maybe this will reach someone who feels the same way and feel good that theyāre not alone.
Xoxo- not gossip girl, umm wallflower woman! Thatās the name.
Costume Weathering & Distressing Guide, Part 2
[Apparently Tumblrās new update messed up the ability to expand a post on mobile, so hereās the under-the-cut portion of the previous tutorial for those who canāt view it. The original post with the first half is here.]
First, hereās a basic video tutorial on distressing fabric (from @mangosireneā). This covers a lot of simple techniques such as tea dyeing, sanding, etc. that are good for creating an overall aged look on fabric. For many costumes, this is all youāll need to create a great ālived-inā look.
Now, here are some of the specific techniques I use to create various effects on fabric (methods bolded for easy skimming):
Dirt
For fabrics that need to look well-used, thereās no substitute for real dirt. :) Need to get a white shirt really, truly dirty and stained? Use it as a rag to clean the windows of your house, wipe down your car, scrub the kitchen floor, etc. Rub the dirt into the fabric. Itāll stain beautifully! (As a bonus, your house and car will be nice and clean.)
For light-colored fabrics, I do a lot of tea dyeing to tone down the brightness. For more controlled ādirtyingā of clothes, I put a concentrated mix of instant coffee and tea in a spray bottle and saturate the areas I want to come out darker. You can control the strength of your stain solution by adding more or less instant coffee/tea powder. (The stains will be permanent, but they may fade slightly with washing, so it may take multiple applications to get them as dark as you want.)
Here are some tank tops that I tea-dyed, then added fake sweat stains using instant coffee in a spray bottle:
Paint and dye are also great ways to add permanent dirt effects, especially for surface dirt like mud splatters or blood stains. Light spritzes of spray paint can create splotches of grime. For controlled splatter effects, dip the bristle tips of a a stiff paintbrush or toothbrush into acrylic or fabric paint, then scrape your finger along the bristles to flick tiny droplets of paint over the fabric. For soaked-in stains, mix acrylic paint or fabric dyeĀ with water to thin it, then drip or paint it on with a brush. (For more general staining rather than distinct spots, water down the paint and apply to wet fabric, then let dry.)
Hereās a white T-shirt that I tea-dyed, then attacked with thinned acrylic paint:
For permanent surface grit (especially useful on darker fabrics), you can apply dry dust, dirt, or fullerās earth, and then seal it to the fabric with clear spray paint. For best results, add a very light layer of dust, spray, let dry, then add more layers. Paint wonāt hold very heavy applications.
For temporary dirt effects that will brush or wash away easily (for a photoshoot or film scene, for example), I use⦠food! Ground cinnamon makes great loose dirt/dust, as does coarse flour. Paprika is good for rust stains. Ground mustard (the seed powder, not the liquid condiment) and corn meal are a bit coarser. Make sure these are applied dry, so theyāre just sitting on the surface of the fabric, rather than rubbed deeply into the fibers. Otherwise they might be hard to clean off.
Here are some costumes that I āspiced upā for a dusty post-battle scene. (These costumes were vintage wool and couldnāt be washed daily, so I had to use materials that would brush off easily):
Wear and Tear
Fabric tends to wear out faster in areas with the most friction: Knees, elbows, hems that drag the ground, places that are rubbed by straps or bags. To age a costume, you can fade or wear down the surface of the fabric in those areas.
A bleach solution or dye remover can be used to selectively fade fabric. (Note: Concentrated bleach will break down fabric with repeated use, so if youāre starting with a white or dyeable fabric and want to age it before you make the costume, run it through a few strong bleach cycles first. The bleaching will damage the fibers and give the fabric a uniform weathered look.)
For controlled distressing, especially on heavier fabrics like denim or canvas, I do a lot of surface sanding. You can use sandpaper, a metal file, a cheese grater, a wire brush, or a leather rougher(advanced level; those things are vicious!) to rough up the surface of the fabric without tearing all the way through it.
If you need to put holes in the fabric ā for example, a character with ripped jeans ā itās best to wear down the area you want to tear out first by sanding, rather than cutting the hole out with scissors. This makes it look more realistic (rough edges, loose threads) and also helps prevent the cut hole stretching and fraying until itās too big.
Depending on the material your costume is made of, you can also use flame to singe edges or burn holes in the fabric. This can produce great visual effects for bullet holes or torn hems, though it does make the material brittle and easier to damage. This method works best with organic materials (cotton, linen, silk, wool) rather than most synthetics, which tend to liquefy (nylon) or combust in a spectacular ball of flame (acetate) when exposed to heat. TEST ON A SCRAP FIRST to make sure your costume will not turn into a pile of slag!
Non-Fabric Bits
Elements of the costume that arenāt made of fabric may need to be aged, as well. For metal pieces (buttons, buckles) or pieces with a lot of surface texture, try applying shoe polish or acrylic paint, then buffing with a cloth to remove the excess. Let some paint stick in the surface detail to look like tarnish or accumulated grime.
This antler knife was aged by brushing acrylic paint over the surface, then rubbing with a paper towel to remove the excess:
For plastic pieces that appear too smooth, you can scrape the surface with a wire brush or sandpaper to distress it. You can also apply a small amount of paint with a dry brush or wadded paper towel to add texture.
These molded plastic horns were dry brushed with acrylic paint to make them look more like aged ivory:
You can also paint first, and then distress the paint job by scraping, sanding, or painting chips or scratches in with metallic paint.
This paint was scraped with sandpaper to create surface scratches:
For decorated armor or pieces with relief, try adding some detail paint around the edges of the designs, then buff the paint with a paper towel or cloth. This will make the raised designs more visible, as well as making the piece appear more tarnished or aged.
For large pieces (armor, helmets) that need to show wear, you can also add surface texture into the paint itself. Coat the piece with paint, and while itās still wet, sprinkle with dirt, makeup powder, ground rust, fullerās earth, or any other dry media you want to add. Let it dry, then seal with clear matte spray paint.
These helmets were painted with a super matte acrylic paint, then dusted with powder pigments to create the dirt and rust effects:
Other Tips
A few things to keep in mind when youāre weathering a costume:
Donāt make your fabric unwashable. Ideally, your costume should look dirty, but smell clean. ;-) Even for outer clothing layers, you want to be able to clean the costume in case of accident (someone spills a drink on you, etc.). If you want your distressing to stay through repeated washing, be sure to use impermeable dyes and paints. Keep in mind that some distressing techniques (spray paint, et al.) may require delicate cycle or hand washing to preserve.
Donāt destroy the costumeās structural integrity. Shredding and sanding fabric can create realistic damage effects, but it will also shorten the lifespan of the material. Make sure you leave structural seams intact, and try to keep most of the damage on the surface rather than tearing huge holes through the fabric.
Organic materials break down over time. For permanent weathering, use inorganic materials like plaster, gravel dust, or fullerās earth rather than organic materials like flour or corn starch, which can grow mold or attract insects in storage.

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO EDDIE MUNSON'S FASHION
letās get one thing straight: just because a guy has long hair and wears black doesnāt mean heās channeling eddie munson.
eddie is a heavy metal and thrash metal fan, and those genres come with their own distinct styleāone that doesnāt exactly play nice with other fashion trends.
X-Files AU
Hellcheer prompt
Agent Christine Cunningham is instructed to debunk an FBI project dubbed 'The Vecna-Files', paranormal cases that have been reopened by Agent Eddie Munson. Munson and Cunningham investigate the mysterious case of Hawkins which houses portals to a world called the 'Upside-Down'.
Cunningham is smart, logical, and keen to rise through the ranks of the FBI. She dots the i's and crosses the t's. She wants this mission to be a success and use it to make a name for herself. Munson is the opposite; brash, enthusiastic (to a fault), and disillusioned with the FBI. He truly believes in the paranormal forces.
Can these agents put aside their differences and work together to save Hawkins?

Crash!
Eddie jumped to his feet, snuffing his half-smoked cigarette and tripping over their hastily discarded clothes to grab boxers and rush toward the kitchen. Chrissy had just gotten up, pulling on his t-shirt with a shy smile over her shoulder after saying she wanted a glass of water. Eddie offered to get it (especially since her knees didn't seem to, uh, want to work properly, not that he was being particularly smug about that) but Chrissy insisted that she needed to stretch her legs.
Swinging around the doorway to the kitchen, he found Chrissy standing in the middle of the floor surrounded by tiny shrapnel shards of a mug. Sharp little landmines just waiting to dig into unsuspecting toes.
"Ah, shit," Eddie breathed, trying to assess the best path to her. "Don'tāā Don't move, sweetness, one second, let meāā"
He rushed into the living room before she could respond, yanking his Reeboks on and nearly falling on his ass when he tried to jump up too quickly. Laughing at himself, he walked back into the kitchen, trying to avoid the bulk of the ceramic and cringing at every slight crunch under his soles. Chrissy hadn't moved, her eyes down like she, too, was searching for a pathway among the mess.
"Alright, uh, justāā" He hoisted her easily into his arms, protecting her bare feet by carrying her like Princess Buttercup through the fire swamp. Depositing her in the hallway, Eddie ducked past her, grabbing the broom and dustpan from the pantry. "Lemme clean this up, alright? You can, uh, go back to the bedroom if you want? I'll bring you some water."
Chrissy didn't look at him. She kept her eyes down, and Eddie followed her gaze, searching her skin for any small cuts he hadn't noticed.
"Fuck, baby, you alright?" he asked, crouching down by her legs, rapt eyes searching for specks of blood. He carefully lifted one foot, making sure her heel was intact before setting it down and inspecting the other. He looked up at her, wrapping his hands loosely around her knees. "Are you hurt?"
Chrissy still wasn't looking at him when she shook her head. Eyes shut tight, head turned resolutely away from him as Eddie slowly rose to standing. His palms climbed from her knees to her hips to her waist on the way up, and he squeezed gently.
"C'mon," he said softly, not quite understanding what was happening but hoping he sounded reassuring. Urging her back a step, he eased her into turning toward his bedroom. "Go sit, yeah? I'll be back in a minute."
Still silent, Chrissy turned and practically ran back into the bedroom. Eddie blinked after her for a moment before turning to the task at hand, grabbing the broom and carefully sweeping up the debris. Making sure to get all the corners under the cabinets to avoid any later mishaps.
He threw the pieces into a paper food bag before throwing them in the garbage to hopefully prevent anything from piercing the plastic. Smacking his shoes a couple of times over the can, he tossed those aside before grabbing another mug of water and walking back into his bedroom to see if Chrissy was okay.
She was dressed in her own clothes, quietly gathering up her belongings and folding them back into her overnight bag. Eddie stopped, feeling his heart seize in his chest. Ice slithered up his back, cold tendrils like fingers wrapping around his spine and holding him in place for a long, breathless moment.
Was she leaving?
"Chrissy?"
Back to him, Chrissy froze, her makeup bag hovered over her backpack.
"I'll, um," she began, her voice thick. Clearing her throat a little, she tried again. "I can, um, drop some money off for the mug later."
What?
"What?" Eddie asked, trying to shake off the glaciers wrapped around his ankles with a cautious step toward her. "Why would you do that? Baby, it's just a mug. Dunno if you noticed but, uh, Wayne has about a million of them."
"But Iāā" Her voice was heavy with tears. Whirling around, Chrissy dropped the makeup bag in her hand to the floor, looking up at Eddie for the first time as tears spilled down her cheeks. "But I broke it, Eddie. I was careless and I dropped it. I-I didn't mean to, I swear, I justāā"
"Whoa, hey, hey." Breaking out of his hesitation, Eddie crossed the room, gently cupping her cheeks in his hands and wiping her tears away. She met his gaze, her big blue eyes swimming. A storm settling over the ocean. "Sweetness, it's okay. It's just a mug. I'm just happy you're not hurt, alright?"
"B-B-But you even offered to get it, andāā"
"And it doesn't matter," he insisted, ducking to grab her attention when her eyes wandered away in shame. "I couldn't give less of a fuck about a broken mug if I tried, okay? It's just a mug."
Collapsing against his chest, Chrissy took in a hitched breath and let out a great sob. Eddie held her close, letting her cry her upset into his bare skin. One hand wrapped around her waist and the other buried in her hair. She clutched at him, fingers digging into his back like she was terrified he was going to change his mind and decide he was angry.
What in the fuck went on at the Cunningham household that would make her respond like this?
After about a minute, her cries quieted, though her shoulders still trembled against him. Eddie kissed her temple, lips tracking down to her cheek before he pulled back far enough to wipe the remainder of her tears away.
"Will Wayne be mad?" she asked, her voice small and her eyes so terribly scared.
"Nah," Eddie reassured her. "Wayne probably won't even notice it's missing."
Fuck, that was the wrong thing to say. Her face crumpled, eyes filling all over again.
"We have to tell him!" Chrissy cried. "W-We can't hide it, Eddie, what if he finds out and gets even more madāā"
"Hey," Eddie cooed softly, trying to keep his voice from quavering with the anger that suddenly surged. Not at her, of course, never at her, but what the fuck was wrong with her family? "We'll tell him, yeah? But I swear, baby, he's not gonna be mad. It's just a thing." Gently urging her chin back, Eddie looked her directly in the eye when he said, "Things break all the time. That's a fact of, like, general product ownership."
"But," Chrissy whispered, falling back into his chest. "But what about the set?"
"Uh. What?"
"The set. The set of mugs. It'll be incomplete now." She looked at him again. "Do you know where I can buy a replacement?"
Eddie blinked at her. "I'm, uh, pretty sure that was, like, a novelty mug he got at a truck stop. It's not part of a set."
Her bottom lip warbled. "So it was important to him? A memory?"
"God, Chrissy, no," Eddie couldn't help it ā he had to laugh a little. Gently, he eased her down onto the bed, sitting beside her and pulling her halfway across his lap. "And even if it was? It's not important enough to throw a fit over if it gets broken. It's just stuff, baby, they're just things." He shook his head, resting his chin on her crown when she snuggled into him. "You can't own stuff without expecting to lose or break it, that's not how accidents work. I've broken probably two dozen mugs in my lifetime."
Her voice was so, so incredibly small when she asked, "So you don't want me to leave?"
"Baby, you can stay the rest of your life if you want," Eddie vowed, his voice laced in jest but meaning every goddamn word. "Or, y'know, just until we get the hell out of this town."
He felt the slight curl of her smile where her cheek was pressed over his heart. Wondering if she could hear the new uptick through the wall of his chest.
"I-I'm sorry. I just... I didn't want you to yell at me."
Taking a slow, deep breath, Eddie closed his eyes to keep from cussing out the phantom of Chrissy's mother that seemed to have its claws stuck into Chrissy's brain.
"Listen, I am never going to yell at you," Eddie promised. Letting his fingertips drift up and down the length of her spine. Giving her hip a soft squeeze with every pass. "And if I do? You have my express permission to hit me."
"Eddieāā"
"I can't promise I won't like it, though."
"God," she snorted, falling into a fit of giggles. After a moment, she let out a deep breath, the warmth of her anxieties bleeding across his skin as she exhaled them from her bones. "Thank you for being so good, Eddie."
His scalp prickled in pleasure at her compliment. Forehead falling against her crown, Eddie took his own shaky breath in, slowly breathing out as he pulled her even closer.
"Shit, sweetness, for you? Anything."
it just makes sense
