The insidious thing is that OF COURSE groceries are going to seem cheaper because of slave labor. Of course American produce will suddenly be cheaper becauseโฆ of slave labor. But the thing is, we live in a post scarcity society, we grow and produce in excess to the point where groceries should be cheaper than they are. One peek into Rednote shows that American corn is sold for the equivalent of 90ยข a kilo in china- the same corn is sold for $7 a kilo here. It is INFURIATING that big corporations run amuck, charging more and more for โrecord profitsโ EVERY YEAR.
Anyways. I am BEGGING you to start a garden. I researched most of the information I need during work. I am going to set up a little hydroponic garden in my apartment. There are so many free resources, and Iโm handy enough to put everything together myself, but you can buy the labs online. Grow veggies, herbs, and vines than you like.
And I understand there is โno ethical consumption under capitalismโ but we have to, on a WIDE scale, put our money where our mouth is and boycott any produce that utilizes slave labor. This is something I already do. If I donโt have money for fair trade certified chocolate, I donโt buy chocolate, itโs not that fucking hard. Go to farmers market. Start a victory garden. Talk with neighbors and barter. Walk their dogs if theyโre sick. Be kind. Be firm.
It is going to be fucking tough but we need to have each otherโs backs on this. Do not give up on this country. Do not give up on your friends and family. Fight for your future. Fight for the future of the kids born today.

Etaf is a wife and mother of 5 from Ghazzah. Last year, she and her family's home was destroyed, a long with her husband's source of income and their car.
They were displaced for 200 days, all the way induring the hellish tribulations of genocide. Luckily, they were able to flee into Egypt; however their struggles are not over.
Due to their lack of income, Etaf and her husband struggle to provide their children with food, clothing, and education. On top of that, they are struggling to pay the rent on their house as winter approaches.
In order to help Etaf's children continue their education and to help the whole family afford basic necessities, they need to raise โฌ100,000. So far, they've only managed to raise โฌ5,690 and their last donation was 18 hours ago.

Hello, my name is Basmala Almadhoun, and Iโm 19 years old. I come from a family of seven. In 2023, I graduated from high school with a score of 91%, and I had planned to pursue my dream of studying dentistry at university. I had always imagined spending my days studying hard and working toward a brighter future. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to experience any of that, as the war in Gaza shattered my dreams.
The university I was going to attend was completely destroyed ๐๐in a bombing, and since then, my family and I have been living through unimaginable hardships. The Israeli army ordered civilians to evacuate their homes and head to the south of Gaza for safety. My family and I first sought refuge at Al-Nasr Children's Hospital in the north, then moved to my sisterโs house in Jabalia. However, just after we arrived, a neighboring house was bombed, partially destroying my sister's home, and we narrowly escaped with our lives.
On November 15, 2023, we were forced to move once again, this time to Deir al-Balah, where we are now living in a small tent, as if weโve gone back 50 years in time. We cook over an open fire, wash our clothes by hand, and survive without electricity, gas, or the internet. Prices are high, and we can barely afford basic necessities like food, cleaning supplies, and clothing. My father lost his job, leaving us with no source of income.๐ญ๐
An entire year of my life has been lost, and so has my dream. By now, I should have completed my first year of university. I am asking for help not just to survive, but to rebuild my life and future.
Why do I need help?
