I would like to attest that my "did nothing except changing my name pronouns and labels" was actually an entire personality overhaul because I was sick of other people dictating who I was. Just because I don't want to take T or cut of my boobs doesn't mean I havent transitioned. You can ask any of my friends, the change was DRASTIC.
I'm like 90% certain that the reason chappel roan is continuously having drama over the most minor shit she did is because people hate popular female music artists whose music doesn't revolve around men... It's also blatantly obvious that people are trying to push an agenda of her inherently hating kids or whatever the fuck to establish and evidence that homosexual people are bad and shouldn't be allowed near children. Heyo, highly doubt anyone will see this, but I wanted to bear my soul to the Internet in a way. And place my hat in the societal ding for a second. I wanted to talk about why downplaying abusive behavior is harmful, and also a little bit about some of the lesser talked about side effects of ableism (aka societal discrimination of nuerodivergent/disabled people)and how it's personally affected me. This is like halfway a vent post, but I also just think idk talking about these things can be useful.

When I was 12, I gained a best friend. This was a big deal to me. I was the weird nerdy chubby girl with undiagnosed ADHD,(and also an egg) having friends was very abnormal for me. Up until I hit highschool I can only think of a couple of real friends I've had. I was, and always have been really good at masking (although I've been working for a few years now to let myself actually exist) and Ive also definitely gained abandonment issues. I was so desperate for other people to like me that I would become absolutely anything someone wanted me to be
That's kinda the problem here, kids are fucking mean. And one of the under seen aspects of nuerodivergent people often being isolated is that it's really bad to help you learn how to have healthy relationships with people.
This "best friend" that I mentioned was incredibly abusive towards me. It was an awful time in my life that will always affect me. But some part of me is still so mad that not once did anyone notice.
One time, I absolutely had to go do math homework, but it was standard practice that I'd play outside with her every day. So I came up with a compromise. I could have my computer outside with me, and I couldn't have guests over, but I could sit inside the door and she could sit outside and wed chat while I did my homework, sounds great right? Yeah so she told me she was going to go lay in the road and ... Yknow, because her best friend ever had betrayed her and it would be all my fault she was gone. I spent two hours sobbing and looking for her. She was inside the whole time. My homework took 15 minutes
She invented her own special way of choking me, shed jump up and wrap her arms around my neck like a hug, and because she was shorter than me shed basically forcing pull me down with her body weight until I was bent backwards crying begging her to let me go so I could breathe. She was also allowed to slap, punch or hit me whenever she felt like it
She also regularily made a point of excluding me from things because I made her mad, and her personal favorite, calling me queer slurs and encouraging everyone else to do so as well. Because y'know shes pan so it's fine if she incredibly derogatorily calls me the f slur. I remember her point blank telling me that no one would ever love me and I was lucky she bothered to tolerate me.
There were adults who saw this. Multiple adults saw me crying, people saw me dragging her from the road every single day (that was her favorite guilt trip tactic if you couldn't tell). People saw her hit me , and no one did anything. Because I was bigger, and a bit older. Why would she be the danger here? People saw what was happening and chalked it all up to "girl drama". I TOLD other people the shit she did to me, and most adults barely listened to me. My parents only recently realized this ever happened, even though I've mentioned it several times.
I just, I want society to be better. Society NEEDS to be better. To be real, if I hadn't miraculously gained a friend who was ACTUALLY good for me two years later who told me how messed up the whole thing was. I'd probably still be friends with her. The sad part is, for the longest time I thought I was in love with that girl.and I can't help but think of how many other kids might end up going through the same thing or even WORSE. Because they're so happy to finally have a "friend".
If you read this, idk thanks. I wanted to let my thoughts out in a way that feels constructive idk. I'm still affected negatively by this. And I probably always will be. But I'm doing better now. And I thank all of my actual friends for teaching me how to love myself c:
I'm almost 19 and I literally have a stuffed animal that goes almost everywhere with me. No one cares btw, most people like him. I left him at home one day in high school and one of my teachers asked if I was sure I trusted him at home alone.
