Pope doesn´t receive a response, just more garbled yips and whines.

He lets out a sigh and settles further into the couch. His free hand reaches out and ruffles his puppy´s curly hair, getting a happy little yowl in response.

His arm is starting to go numb from keeping it still for so long, the tingling sensation mingling with the pain of little fangs in his flesh.

He gently pulls Dennis´ hair, asking the puppy to let go. Instead, he growls and locks his jaw, biting Pope´s arm harder.

The vibration feels strange on his skin and he can´t help the thoughts of how dirty human mouths are.

Still, he lets go of the puppy´s hair, petting his back absentmindedly instead. The late afternoon sun shines into the room, making his boy´s hair appear almost golden. It´s warm, the weight of Dennis in his lap grounding.

He feels at peace for once, away from dirty dish sponges and Smurf´s control.

Turning his eyes back to the TV, he lets the quiet narration of some documentary and his boy´s little sounds soothe him to sleep.
