Do absolutely none of the third year girls fear punishment or respect authority? Like they decided to do the Cackle Run during their potions class?! If I were going to choose a period of the day for my whole year to collectively skip class, I would probably do it during chanting. Miss Bat would be the kind of teacher who would be upset and go looking for her students, but probably wouldn’t explode or expel anyone. But (Deputy Headmistress) Hecate Hardbroom?! Y’all choose to skip her class? Intentionally, and as a group? To do a forbidden (banned since 1897), highly dangerous broomstick race? Are you insane?!

I know the storyline is only interested in Indigo Moon and what her return means for Cackles, but I feel like the bigger problem is school-wide insubordination that almost resulted in extreme injury/the possible death of a student?

This. Also the fact there’s like 0 repercussions for anyone besides Mildred and Indigo. Ethel almost gets killed and her punishment is an irrelevant essay. Ethel almost kills the whole school,forbiddenly uses a star and bullies Indigo and her only punishment is not being the lead in anything. Wtf? “You almost ruined everything so you won’t be turning on our lights ever. Bahaha. Seems fit”

There’s this girl at my school and she’s really nice and I remember sometime last year at one point she would carry a clicker around and click it everytime she had a happy thought/something good happened/she laughed etc. It was always kind of cute how you’d just hear the little click every once in a while throughout class it always made me smile knowing that it was bc something made her feel happy idk

Hill house unanswered questions

So if the bent-neck lady is the ghost of dead Nelly,why did Nelly return to the Hill house originally? We see that she returns because of the bent- neck lady but for the bent- neck lady to exist,she would have to first die,become a ghost and then haunt herself to repeat the cycle. So if her death occurred before the haunting,what lead her to the hill house?

The Worst Witch society is a matrilineal one, right? So Ethel’s father took on Ursula Hallow’s name, Enid’s father took on “Nightshade,” and so on? Every witching family tree had women whose names had obviously never been changed in marriage. Mirabelle Hubble is the ancestor of Mildred, so this tradition goes back farther than twelve generations. Alma Cackle presumably had a husband or male lover, seeing as she has twin girls, but her name is the same as every witch who has run the academy for centuries. One could make the argument that women are always referred to by their maiden names in this universe, but then why wouldn’t Mr. Hallow’s name be something else, seeing as he is clearly not a part of the Hallow line? If tradition dictates that women’s names will be taken on and passed down, why is Mr. Rowan-Webb’s name hyphenated? Did he have two mothers? Did his father insist his “maiden name” be kept in his son’s last name? In a magical divorce, does tradition go out the window?

ALSO, WHY THE HELL IS THERE A GREAT WIZARD?

If it is a matrilineal society, what is the purpose of putting a wizard in charge of the Witch’s Code? If women are valued so highly in terms of inheritance and lineage, why is the Great Wizard such an unapologetically sexist asshole? These are the big questions.
