I really do appreciate how much Mass Effect: Andromeda tried to create colorful worlds. Even mono-type planets like Voeld and Elaaden are full of color.

The original Mass Effect Trilogy, much as I love the series, is rather drab and desaturated. ME1 had some colorful places, but its sequels had a bit of a "misery filter" applied to them that sucked a lot of color from the environments.

In contrast, the most absolutely messed up planet in Andromeda, H-047c, is still quite pleasant to look at. Tossing in other planets like Aya, Havarl, and Habitat-7 shows how much the environmental artists wanted it all to look like something you'd want to explore.

That's not to say that everything is happy and bright. The vaults look both colorful and oppressive when you're in them. Wreckages don't look like they've been collecting dust for a century.

It all just looks nice.

So was thinking more about Apothecary diaries AU's and La clan Maomao and suddenly had thought about how bad it would be if Lakan's father head of the La clan found out about Maomao before Lakan was back.

A young girl of La clan blood. With the previous emperor still in power.

What if Maoamao ended up in Lishu's position.

Lakan not finding out as still away his father keeping him out of the picture until she's fully in rear palace. Luomen being unable to protect Maomao alone with full force of former clan stealing her away.

Lady Ah duo meeting Maomao and instantly taking care of her keeping her away from the emperor.

Little Maomao meeting Jinshi and two becoming friends, little Maomao sneaking around finding flowers for medicines to collect like she used to with Luomen.

When emperor finally dies Lakan, who has finally returned and bought out Fengxian and now fully taken over clan brings Maomao home, keeping her safe finally. (Knowing she was safe because Ah Duo wrote to him and Luomen knowing neither put Maomao there and wanted to get her out)

Maomao stills sneaks out of La clan estate form very overprotective family, end sup kidnapped into rear palace, Ah Duo recognizing her instantly and her becoming her lady in waiting (Ah Duo letting clan know Maomao is safe) Lakan agreeing to let her stay because safe with Ah Duo and he's dealing with some outside threats, La clan princess is a target of others schemes, so her in rear palace pretending to be commoner is very safe.

Maomao figuring out about the powder and Ah Duo communicating this to other consorts.

Jinshi and Maomao running in to each but each other recognizing each other, so familiar but.... no it can't be he was prince/she was La clan princess.

Ah Duo is watching her kids fall in love again and enjoying the show.

Sharing a lil unique throwback Valentine’s Day art c0mm months back and some lore to this! Art is by the lovelg @arxiel 💙

Odilia’s a homestick girlie pop who yearns to be back to her family and one of the things she missed most with her family is the fact that she will have a sweet tooth for these treats and they are none other then an assortment of kueh treats, often seen in various parts of SEAsia mainly in Malaysia and Singapore.

So for this year’s Valentine’s Day, Gale did his best replicating the treats including Odilia’s favourite Kueh Salat which is a 2 layered Kueh dessert with a pandan custard on top and blue & white glutinous rice at the bottom, alongside the classic rainbow Kueh Lapis , Ondeh Ondeh (rice cakes coated in coconut gratings on the outside and gula melaka in the insides) , Ang Ku Kueh (sweet dumpling that is shaped like a tortoise shell) and of course, Kueh Tutu ( Steam rice cakes shaped like a flower with various fillings like gula melaka and grated peanuts) and presented her in a classic V Day chocolate box…minus the chocolate.

Also a fun fact is that Odilia has a grandmother who grew to love her new grandson-in-law (aka Gale) very much 🥺🥺 She was happy to advise him how to make these treats and other Peranakan dishes, given this man LOVES to cook and impress his darling feisty warlock 🥺🥺

Not to be a bitch but sometimes people engage with fiction in the most boring way possible, and nowhere is this clearer than in videogames. Like what you mean you hate a character just because they were kind of abrasive when speaking to the player character? "They were mean to me" and it didn't occur to you to wonder why? Like, what might their attitude toward you reveal about the world? About the social dynamics within it? About their own perspectives and backgrounds and personalities? Does it even occur you to ask? Would you only have liked them if they bowed to your presence and talked about how great you are? Like I'm sorry but you're so boring. How boring fiction would be if it cathered to you
