I gotta say, I admire Andy Weir for a lot of things regarding Project Hail Mary: the science, of course; the complex, varied, and diverse cast of characters (cough, cough, women) in a book starring primarily a white man; the absolute audacity to include the twist about Grace's cowardice... The list goes on, but one thing has impressed me most.

He introduced three different species of aliens that interact with Grace (including the Taumoeba). And none of them are fuckable. Not even the Eridians! Hell, consensus among most fans have Grace not having any sexual/romantic relationship with even the humans! This book had so much potential to be a horny thing, and it took serious effort to say "forget all that; who needs a relationship when there's science to do and apocalypse to avert"

And I love him for that.
