Idea for a crossover fic:
Reader used to be a part of the SVU team and (still is) dating Sonny. She ended up joining the BAU in Virginia, taking Elle's place. (Emily can still be there) BAU gets a case that's joint with the SVU where only Hotch and maybe Rossi know that she's still in a relationship with Sonny who doesn't know that they're helping until the team gets there and there's a cute little reunion between the two. Maybe Spencer or someone had a bit of a crush on the reader as well and didn't know until then that she was dating someone.
summary: you and the behavioral analysis unit have to partner up with the special victims unit which means you get to see your boyfriend
you sit at your desk doing paperwork on a case you and the team finished this week. jj comes out of her office with a folder. she walked up the stairs to hotch’s office. a few moments later hotch opens his office door.
he called down to you, morgan, emily, spencer and garcia. “we've got a case.” hotch announces before knocking on rossi’s office. you and the team leave your desk and head to the meeting room.
spencer sits on your right while emily’s on your left. jj hands out the folders before grabbing the remote for the big screen. you and the team go over your first impressions of the case. hotch clears his throat.
“we will be joining the special victim unit in new york on this case.” you smile at the thought of seeing elliot again after not seeing him since last month. “wheels up in 20.” hotch announces, everyone got up.
you walk out of the meeting room with spencer next to you. the team watched you guys chat as you grabbed your travel bags. you walked onto the jet and sat at a window seat. spencer came on moments later.
he smiled at you making you do the same. spencer look the open seat next to you. emily and morgan sit in front of you guys. as the jet flew to new york, you guys discussed opening theories and killer motives.
soon enough you guys land in new york. the team and you exit the jet and get into the fbi invested black svus. you guys quickly got your hotel and left your stuff. with quick work, you guys started the car ride to the station.
you and the rest of the team made it to the front door of the police station. hotch and rossi wait at the door. “y/n, you've been here before. you lead the way.” rossi and hotch look at you with knowing eyes.
you smile and nod as emily, morgan, jj and especially spencer looked at you three confused. you quickly moved through the crowded station with ease. as you walked, spencer quickly caught up to you.
his face held confusion. “y/n? you've been here before?” spencer asked with a raised eyebrow. “yeah, but not in the way your thinking.” this made spencer sigh in relief and the rest of the team less tense.
you make it to the special victim unit's door and open it. as the team followed you into the svu’s headquarters, amanda looked up from her computer. once she saw you in the doorway of her amanda, she smiled.
she knew that this case was going to be better with you here. “amanda.” you smile as you walk over to her with your arms open for a hug. amanda smiled as she left her desk to hug you. “it's good to see you again, y/n.”
amanda speaks as her arms wrapped around you tightly. the team looked at you and amanda confused. nick and tutuola looked up and smiled at you as well. “well well, look at what the cat dragged in.”
nick joked making you look over. “wow didn't know you would still be here old man.” you joked back making tutuola laugh and get up. he gave you a tight hug. spencer, rossi, jj, hotch, morgan and emily laughed softly.
the banter between you and the slightly older man didn't really surprise them. amanda shook her head, a small smile plastered on her face. you looked back to amanda with a smile. “where's sonny?”
spencer looked at you, puzzled. “he's on his way back from interviewing one of the suspects.” you hear captain olivia making you look over to see her walking out of her office. you softly smile and met her in the middle for a hug, happy to see her.
the team looked at you in utter shock and surprise. they watched as you hugged and interacted with all the members of the svu like you are a close family. amanda looked at the bau and chuckled softly at the looks on their faces.
“welcome back y/n, though i wish it wasn't these circumstances.” you just smiled at your best friend. as if his subconscious knew what was waiting for him, sonny walked through the doors while texting on his phone.
sonny hits one final letter and hits send. your phone vibrates in your pocket. the vibration makes sonny look up. he sees the bau standing by his desk. his eyes go over each of them before landing on your smiling face.
sonny’s eyes light up and fill with love. a smile grows on his face as he speed walks towards you. the bau watch as you open your arms for the man. sonny's arms engulf you in a loving embrace. “hey, love.”
you smile as you spoke to sonny in a soft tone. spencer, morgan, jj and emily’s eyes widen. hotch and rossi smile at the sight of the lovers. sonny smiles and pulls back to hold your waist. “hey, honey.”
sonny leaned down and lovingly kissed your lips. nick and tutuola smiled at your happy reunion. amanda and olivia softly chuckled at the faces of the bau team and the scene happening before them.
they both knew just how much you and sonny belonged together. meanwhile, the bau team's jaws were on the ground, pure shock and surprise. they all looked at each other trying to see if anyone knew.
spencer, emily, morgan and jj could see hotch and rossi’s smiles. that's why they asked her to lead. the team tries to process what they just witnessed. you pulled back with a happy smile before looking at your team.
“guys, this is my boyfriend sonny carisi.” hotch and rossi shook his hand, not shocked due to their knowledge on the relationship. spencer, morgan, jj and emily still stood there in shock. they just stared at you and sonny.
you and sonny stood besides each other now you with a smile and sonny with a smiling but professional face. olivia shook her head at the bau team, surprised you were able to keep your relationship a secret from your profiling team.
amanda walked over to the frozen team. “close your mouths, you look like a bunch of fish.” you giggled at amanda's comment as you cuddled into sonny’s side. the bau finally snapped out of their trance.
they closed their mouths and looked at you and elliot. the information you just gave them finally settled into their brains. amanda and olivia shared a look when they saw the teams reactions, especially spencer's.
it was entertaining to see a group of profilers miss the hints of you in a relationship. emily was the first to step up and introduce herself. she extended a hand to sonny. “hi, i'm agent emily prentiss. elliot shook her hand.
olivia, amanda, nick, tutuola, rossi and hotch stood back and watched the scene unfold. morgan and jj did the same and shook sonny’s hand after introducing themselves. spencer was still in shock and surprise.
hearing you refer to sonny as your boyfriend broke his heart a little. the whole group remained silent as they waited for spencer to introduce himself. finally after a few moments spencer waved with an awkward smile.
spencers eyes showed some sadness but he stayed professional. the bau looked at spencer with sad eyes knowing his crush on y/n. the svu team understood from the looks on the bau team's faces.
sonny chuckled softly at spencer. “no handshakes for you, huh?” sonny said, noticing how spencer just waved. you smile happy that the team accepted you guys. you look up at sonny. “it's a germ thing.”
sonny smiled at your explanation. he couldn't help but find it cute that spencer has that little quirk. the bau team watched the interaction with soft eyes. they're happy to see you happy. “so shall we start going over the case?”
hotch focused on what the team were here for again. the whole group nodded before focusing on the case. you were just happy to be with sonny again even through unfortunate circumstances.
the group started to look through the case as you stood by sonny’s side. your hand and his stayed intertwined, happy to be able to feel each other after so long of being apart.
