How does one get started into digital art? I love pencil and paper drawing but want to dip my toe in digital? Any free program you would recommend? And tips? Thanks!
Oh goodness! I’m flattered you would ask me this. ^u^I can’t speak for other artists, but I got seriously invested in digital art when I got my tablet (a Bamboo Create). It is infinitely easier than drawing with a mouse.I know a ton of people use PaintTool SAI for their art, but I currently use ArtRage4. It’s a very easy to use program right from the start if you’re willing to pay for it. (Maybe look for a steam sale?)As far as freeware goes, I originally started with Gimp. There might have been some updates to it since I used it last, but from what I recall, it was pretty easy to use and reliable as well.As for tips - DRAW EVERYTHING. I mean it. Draw daily if you can. You are only going to get better through practice. And I know it can be hard, but also try to draw the things you don’t like and/or have difficulty drawing. Only by pushing your comfort zone are you going to get a more diverse and developed set of skills.Good luck, and most importantly, have fun!
ALEX, THAT’S NOT WHAT SHE MEANT.
