Kinktober is a kinky October prompt challenge that’s been running in one form or another since 2016. There are three prompts for each day in October, and the challenge is to use one (or more!) of the prompts to create something for that day. If you don’t want to use any of the three daily prompts, you can swap them out for the bonus prompts at the bottom of the prompt list.
If you have any questions, check our FAQs. Unfortunately, due to personal commitments, we won't be opening our askbox for questions this year. We've made it as rules-light as possible, though, so if your question is "Can I do this?", the answer is almost certainly yes!
the show is real good the movie is shit, the graphic novel I read was alright enough, but my favorite adaptation of The Lightning thief is by far the musical, and it saddens me that not a lot of pjo fans or theater nerds talk about it. It’s exactly the high energy colorful fun I imagined in the books.
and if i say Good Kid from the 2014 musical “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” by Rob Rokicki and Joe Tracz is one of the best portrayals of percy jackson ever, what then?
I think at this point we simply must accept the truth, which is that no Percy Jackson adaptation or sequel will better understand the assignment than The Lightning Thief musical. solidly 70 percent of the plot happens in one (1) song and the entire rest of the musical is dedicated to The Themes and The Characters and The Relationships and, of course, The Cycles. plus it fucking slaps. 20/10, no notes, perfect understanding and interpretation of the source material
Something that I’ve noticed both through my own experiences irl, and through media where indigenous languages are spoken, specifically North American ones, is that a lot of indigenous languages have this almost like, musical cadence to it when they’re spoken. And it’s really pleasing to listen to. Im noticing it especially with the Osage as im watching the Netflix little house on the prairie, but again ive also noticed it with languages like Anishnabe, and Cree as well. (Anishnabe through Anne with a E, and Cree just through my own life experiences) Méchif also somewhat carries this, however not as much which makes sense because it’s a language born from cree and french. Just interesting thing that I’ve noticed.
I’m obsessed with the French women in the little house show. I forget her name but she’s so fun! I love her! I love this new adaptation so much in general!!!!
i feel like if i'd seen brennan's video out of context i would've clocked it was a bit, not necessarily because "i'm quitting hosting dimension 20 to make american girl doll shoes" is on its face absurd, but because while i believe there is a universe where brennan is that fixated on american girl dolls and characters, there is absolutely no universe in which brennan lee mulligan is fixated on american girl and pronounces josefina's name wrong
I genuinely think he could enjoy it if he got into it, particularly the historical dolls because of the research that goes into them, the books and the lessons they strive to teach children! Especially because they are a older aspect of the brand before it started going (slightly) downhill and feeling just money hungry
This especially is contributing to my wanting to get a American girl doll! I have always wanted one but I was given cheaper Canadian options instead growing up, which I did like, but now that I’m an adult and understand how beautiful and well made the dolls are, it makes me really want to get one of the historical ones! Especially seeing posts like this are contributing!
I really hope we see more of the Netflix little house series! But like, lean into it being historical fiction, instead of the adaptation of the books like it tries to claim to be. Let us lean into this happier, more peaceful world where even in the 1800s settlers and indigenous people can be friends, black folks can be treated with the same respect as white folks and women can wear trousers. Im three episodes in and we’ve already strayed so far from the books but im okay with that if they shift into being more so inspired by to tell new stories with these characters in a more modern way. I honestly don’t want realistic! Because realistical is all I see and it reminds me of all the awful things that have happened not only to others but my own family included. It’s important to have realism yes, but sometimes you just want to live in this imaginary world where ultimately everyone can get along and be friends.
I’m watching the new little house show on Netflix and im actually really enjoying it. It’s by no means accurate to the book or reality but if you think of it as it’s own separate thing, and a fantasy, or a alternate universe, then you can enjoy it.
I like seeing laura being friends with good eagle, I like seeing community between pa and the indigenous people, I like seeing a free black doctor being treated well, I like seeing darker people in general being part of this community. It’s not accurate, but sometimes you don’t want acurate, you know? Sometimes you just want to pretend that everyone can get along and be okay with each other. Sometimes you get sick of remembering and constantly seeing the horrible things that happened, the things you’re constantly reminded of.
Im choosing to let myself fall into this optimistic world, because this is what I need. Im gonna let myself enjoy this world that has always been so near to me
you know unless they're going to show us the Osage also suffering settler violence, theft, and the loss of their homelands, these scenes with the Ingalls being robbed while Laura and Good Eagle work to be friends is going to continue to be very one sided white saviorism that is a huge disservice to what actually happened in these times and lands.
I’m choosing to think of it as a alternative universe. Or a fantasy. Not a accurate representation of the time. Im indigenous and grew up reading little houses on the prairie and all i wanted in so many books was for Laura to make friends with a indigenous girl her age. This is letting me see this. As long as people don’t take it as a accurate representation of how things were then I see no harm. Im sick of always seeing the awful things that happened to me people, even if it’s true. Sometimes you just want a happy, heartwarming story
