"Beach goop season" had me cackling! I just don't get the lack of curiosity and problem solving among people, especially people with kids, when everyone is getting really sick all the time all of a sudden. It's something I'll never understand. I got sick bare minimum quarterly but more often monthly as a child, and people called me "sickly" and accused my parents of being bad parents. Now so many people are getting sick so often we start August and then ~20% of students and staff are out with "some cold" and it's somehow normal?

This is so funny because of how long a chain of telephone it is. The starting point is that grapefruit juice SPECIFICALLY can interact negatively with several mental health medications (notably, not amphetamines). Then this tumblr post* and MULTIPLE NEWS ARTICLES got popular, stating that consuming anything acidic (including vitamin C) within an hour of taking your ADHD meds would render them ineffective. In reality, a large dose of vitamin C taken directly with an amphetamine-based ADHD medication has the potential to cause a minor dampening effect, but has no effect on other ADHD meds. 

These presumably got filtered/combined into the idea that vitamin C is bad to take with ANY mental health meds, which then got turned into the idea that if you have mental health problems, scurvy may be right for you!

I truly don’t think people realize how dingy and dark most movies and tv shows actually are so they can’t appreciate the work and skill it takes to make gifs look the way your brain “remembers” it looking.

Another before and after example:

This gif needed 6 different adjustment layers, not including the sharpening process, which is its own separate challenge. The blue window was also changed to green to keep the palette more consistent and to reduce the range of colors needed, because a wider range of colors generally results in worse gif quality since gifs only support a max of 256 (compared to the millions your monitor can display).

The thing about people discouraging transition is that it's all of these incremental little "compromises" inching you back closer to cisheteronormative gender roles. And it's vital you don't try to bargain with them because they will never be satisfied until you're completely cis gender conforming. It's a trap kill them

I feel like people forget that nonbinary people can still be transfem or transmasc and there are valid nonbinary identitieas that align with either or both labels. And it doesn't have to mean that they are On Their Way Towards Being A Binary Trans Woman Or A Binary Trans Man. They can literally just be transfem/transmasc and nonbinary at the exact same time forever and ever and even go by they/them pronous exclusively, because those terms are not mutually exclusive and neither diminishes the other.

i think there'd be alot less discourse around "fanfic vs literature" if more people treated fanfiction as it's own medium with it's own strength and weaknesses, rather than comparing it to traditional literature, because most of what i love about fan-fiction just straight up does not work in original fiction. at all.
