Hey so obviously I support people nominating Heinz Doofenshmirtz for tumblr sexyman 2026 but also if anyone wanted to join me in nominating the man in the yellow hat (Ted Shackleford) from Curious George that would be fantastic (I just think he’s neat.)

Reasoning:

- he’s a good father

- he’s an anxious mess (said affectionately)

- he works in a museum

- he falls apart the second a single attractive person speaks to him (relatable)

So story time. I’m on a competitive weightlifting team (for fun) and that means I spend a lot of time around many very straight men (which truly could be its own story series) but today we had some downtime and were bored so we were talking about opinions we have on shows and one of them turns to me and goes, “I bet you have some really good Phineas and Ferb takes,” because I am nothing if not, incredibly predictable. So I gave some of my milder hot takes (because I did not know how safe the space was) and he goes, “cool, mine is that Perry and Doof are in love with each other.”

Y’ALL. THE WAY I SWIVELED AROUND SO FAST. Like I need you guys to understand this is a man who does Olympic-style weightlifting at the national level, has a full beard, and religiously eats a pound of beef a day to meet his protein goals. I was like Owen what the fuck and he was just sitting next to me, grinning, and watching me vibrate at a speed known only to autistics as I struggled to string together two coherent thoughts that weren’t holyshitholyshitholyshit.

And when I finally managed to get a thought together I expressed how shocked I was, and this man just goes, “well of course I ship them, I’ve seen the show.”

I mean, let's be honest, his various 'Inators always work as intended, even if they blatantly violate all known laws of nature.

Mad Scientist my foot; Heinz Doofenshmirtz is a frickin' Reality Bender with a self-imposed "must do everything via science" mental block.

What I mean to say is, if Doofensmirtz built a "Quantum Destabilizinator" to disintegrate Bill Cypher...

I don't even think the mental block is science, it's just....ADHD.

In the Dwampyverse "science" itself is always just a shrug, a joke, and an occasional question with a few raised eyebrows. Phineas and Ferb are the same way, they're just a little young to be doing it.

Overall, what Heinz struggles with when it comes to getting any work done is motivation, hence, his inators typically deal with petty revenge or an excuse to get Perry to come over and thwart him.

When it comes to tasks that he's doing because he feels like he's "supposed" to do (being a force for good, the professor time crashout, .....actually taking over the tri-state area) he fails. But if it's something he actually is motivated to do, he'll knock it out in a morning.

He built a time machine to get a discontinued soda.

He built a teleportation device to another planet to save his daughter.

He built an inator to turn someone from evil to good out of plane parts while the plane was still flying.

There's dozens of examples.

Now, would Bill be able to trick Doof? Yes. Definitely. Absolutely. But the minute Heinz realizes the havoc Bill plans on wreaking, he's done for.

Deeply fascinating poll because if worst means ‘most annoying’ my answer is very different than if worst means ‘worst person’.

If we’re doing worst person I immediately remove all of the children— they haven’t had to pay taxes yet, they’ll grow up someday— and then between the adults I really think it comes down to the top two. But both are just so interesting because I don’t really feel like Roger fully understands the abuse that Heinz (and himself, to a degree) went through when they were kids. Can we really ask him to atone for that if he’s been brainwashed into thinking it was normal? (Fics that explore him coming to realizations are fascinating to me. I want more content about him and Heinz just… having a long overdue chat.)

Monogram on the other hand is absolutely terrible, and abusive to his agents and other employees. Personally I’d love to slap him on Carl’s behalf. But he’s interesting too because he’s not trying to be terrible on purpose, he’s simply lazy, incompetent, and awful at his job. He didn’t want to end up here, got forced into it, and now has to choose wallpaper colors instead of trapeze tricks. Tbh, I’d be pissed off too. I don’t think he’s as forgivable as Roger, because again, he treats everybody else like shit, but I think he’s a fantastic metaphor for a large portion of corporate America, and I really enjoy when the show gives him subtle moments of realization of that. I have mixed feelings about him. Perry has mixed feelings about him. He and Carl have both definitely fantasized about Monogram suffering, but also they all go bowling on Tuesdays.

It’s complicated. And I think that’s beautiful. It’s sort of one of the themes of the show isn’t it— that nobody is fully terrible? People can be messy, but there’s often raw emotions left over under it, and I love the subtle ways PnF demonstrates that.

Anyway, the correct answer to the poll is Heinz’s parents. They can burn in hell. Unless it’s most annoying, and then it’s Peter the Panda.
