Ok! I've been trying to make this post for a while. One newer dynamic I've seen popping up among my various friends and enemies is what I was once calling 'middle management kink'. I've been flirting with calling it 'hierarchyplay' or 'recruitmentplay', but 'right hand kink' is I think the most accurate so we'll use that term here.
'Right hand kink' describes a class of switch specific dynamics of the service persuasion that implicitly involve at least three entities. The sub (within the scene), the greater dom (implicitly exists, outside the scene), and the switch. The switch here occupies a kind of 'fixer', 'recruiter', or 'actor' position, operating as a direct agent of the greater dom while dealing with the sub. The switch is, within the scene, in a dominant role, but it is ultimately understood as performing a kind of service for its own dom. Thus, the switch is both sub and dom at once, here.
Let's give some examples of what this might look like.
The switch could be its goddess's indoctrination specialist. Recruiting and enlightening the masses. Directly or indirectly channeling its goddess's light. Hypnotizing, kidnapping, or gaslighting its newest victim for its goddess. The victim slowly memorizing each and every syllable of its new goddess's true name until it sets and becomes a new devotee.
Or, the switch could be its lady's right hand maid. A servant that gets done what needs doing in these difficult times. A fighter, an actor, or a contract enforcer. The voice of its lady, acting in her stead and explaining plainly what will be done and doing it. I think here you can find some gap moe by having the maid act very, very differently around its lady, too.
Or, the switch could be its owner's newest possession. Maybe not even entirely aware of why it's doing what it's doing. Acting out to acquire a new piece of property, doing what needs to be done to teach it its place, only with the flip of a switch to reveal that it has its own owner. That this piece of property was acquired for someone else, an unseen hand guiding it.
I hope those three are enough to help you understand the kind of space this occupies.
Then, I think this 'right hand kink' acts as a kind of d/s dynamic more specialized for a certain kind of relationship to desire. For individuals that struggle to express desire, let alone dominance, as something from themselves, this acts as a kind of permission structure.
A hand holding the leash, fingering the valve, signing the paperwork. Permission to enjoy yourself, to run free, to be evil.
I think that it can be easy for fear of control and fear of responsibility to hold back dominance, and this kind of thing helps you work past that.
Further, there is joy to be found in service. In losing yourself, your individuality and your identity, in becoming the perfect hand to feed something greater. A kind of loss of self, subsumed into service, as you just worry about how to best act in the interests of someone else. The optimization problem is so much simpler when you don't have to worry about your own ego.
And, for the sub, there's something fun in seeing that the one domming you itself serves something greater. To see it fold and be broken, just as easily as it broke you. A kind of d/s powerscaling of sorts. Yet another mountain to climb, or further evidence of your status as lesser. It can be enjoyable.
