Posting this on here as an attempt to not start a new fic until I've finished my Magnolia fic so have some faildad 25 year old Daniel <3
"Why did you bring her with you?"
Daniel's mind is hazy and disorganized. Who? He thinks blearly. He's....in Tennessee? There was a story he needed to follow. He thinks. There were drugs involved at some point. Probably last night. Did he bring someone back to his apartment? He doesn't remember. He's not fully sure where he is, actually. Whose apartment.
"Your daughter, Daniel." The word sounds strange on Armand's lips, Daniel thinks, like it is unfamiliar in his mouth, like it is a word he has had little reason to say. He supposes a daughter isn't something Armand would be familiar with. It isn't something Daniel is familiar with either. It is something he should, though. He has one. A daughter. His stomach drops out from beneath him as his brain catches up to Armand's words.
Daniel pulls himself up off the bed he's sprawled on, and tries to blink away the fuzziness behind his eyes. He sways, and Armand grabs his elbow to steady him.
"Where is she?" Daniel rasps. He's remembering now. Calla had a work trip. She gave him the weekend with Meg. He'd gotten a tip about a new environmental law passing in Tennessee. He'd...drove to Tennessee with a three year old he didn't actually have custody of in the backseat.
"She's fine." Armand says, lips pressed together in a line.
Daniel shoves him away. "C'mon, man-" Calla is going to kill me. Six states over and a vampire watching Meg while I was passed out-
"Your daughter is watching television in the living room. PBS, I believe the program is called. There's a vampire made of felt who counts."
Daniel squints at him in disbelief. "What?"
