Science fans: The part of our brain that we share with our evolutionary ancestors plays a big role in what we perceive as sexy and desirable, we’re hardwired to appreciate certain good looks.  A man with strong jaw, jutting brow, thin lips, broad shoulders, and strong arms and chest indicate high levels of testosterone which indicate hardiness and resistance to disease.  Pragmatically, such specifics suggest good breeding material and the ability to provide shelter and protection for their partner.  Studies have found that women living in harsher conditions, such as communities with high homicide rates and low income, are more inclined to find men with stereotypical masculine features attractive.  At the same time, women are also attracted to men with more feminine shaped faces and darker skin, according to research by psychologists at New York and Princeton universities, because these facial features tend to be linked with stability and caring.  

Sam is a combination of masculinity (strong jaw, jutting brow, thin lips, broad shoulders, and strong arms and chest) and a feminine shaped face (sweetheart shaped olive-toned face, small nose, and almond eyes).  Then you have Soulless Sam who looks like Sam but also has a manipulable nature.  He is a rational hunter with sharp intelligence who can dissect a situation and figure out the winnable scenario on the fly, he is ruthless in accomplishing the goal you set out him and he will follow you without question.  He reminds me of a story of a brain injured man who was super-rational, but couldn’t make the simplest decisions because all arguments are equal.  Decision-making isn’t logical, it’s emotional.  The tie breaker comes from emotional gut reaction but Soulless Sam doesn’t have that, which is why Dean said soulless Sam doesn’t have the instinct to question authority when he saw how blindly Sam was following their grandfather.  Sam has nothing to balance out his naivete.  When Sam ditched the grandfather, he followed Dean around all the time even though Dean’s end goal was not in his best interest.

General fans: I’m sympathetic for soulless Sam because once Dean found out what he was, he stopped treating him like his Sam, like a person.  He just became a thing in Dean’s eyes, something to be replaced by Dean’s baby brother. But this Sam lived and experienced life too, he’s a fully sentient being.  I couldn’t blame him for trying to protect himself.  

Brotherhood fans: Soulless Sam wasn’t evil, he just didn’t care and it’s fascinating to watch this new Sam’s relationship with Dean; he doesn’t love Dean but he still follows the things he remembers Dean said and modelling for him.  The new Sam fell right back into that codependency pattern from a lifetime of being brothers.  That’s basic Sam at the core guiding Soulless Sam, that on a fundamental level without complications, Sam will always choose Dean. Basically, Soulless Sam and Dean were still codependent; the dynamics changed radically but it was still SamDean.

Sam fans: soulless Sam showed that Sam Winchester is inherently good, sans soul or not.  Sam, with all his skills and all that he could do with his multiple intelligence could’ve gone mass murdering and done whatever the hell he wanted to, but he didn’t. Instead he returned to hunting, essentially saving people, despite the flawed execution of it.  Sam is good. And the only time he ever wasn’t was when he literally had no soul. 

Canon fans: I like soulless Sam because he is 100% aware Castiel, Dean, fucking everybody, the whole world OWES him because Sam stopped the Apocalypse and locked up Lucifer (never forget that Dean broke the first seal, angels help break over 60 seals, and Cas knew who the last seal was and knowingly helped start the Apocalypse).  It takes Sam being soulless, free of guilt and shame and residual feelings to come forward and put it out there for fucking everybody, and it’s only this version of Sam who has the guts to point that out.  

Kinky fans: He’s a hella sexy and sassy.  He has no filters or inhibition so whatever your kink is, he’s down with it.

All of the behind the scenes stories about Andre the Giant were adorable like this, Apparently Wallace Shawn is deathly afraid of heights, so he was freaking out while they were doing the scene scaling the cliff and Andre was like “it is okay, I’ll keep you safe.” there’s a behind the scenes thing on the DVD and everyone is choked up and misty eyed when they talk about working with him.
