i finished this at least a month ago, posted it to discord, and promptly forgot about it until i shared another WIP with nuclearapathy and they prodded me about the first one

anyway this was written for @rip-aizawa on the leviathan server! thx Sparks for being a fantastic buddy❤️

It would’ve been nice if somebody had warned him the weather was supposed to take a turn for the batshit today.

Generally, Hitoshi loves the beach. Does he get to go often? No. But he takes the chance whenever he can, and Midoriya had made noises today about going down there after school— what’s important is that Hitoshi saw the opportunity and he took it, but conveniently forgot one important detail.

The ocean, in all its magnificent glory, does not love him back.

“Was there a hurricane scheduled today that I wasn’t fucking aware of?” Hitoshi yells over the rising wind. One hand fists in his towel— he uses the other to push back his hair, shielding his vision. It’s getting hazy out, with how wild the wind’s whipping the beach; when Hitoshi tries to call out again, he’s rewarded with a mouthful of sand.

“Jesus, shit!” Hitoshi spits out, grains crunching between his teeth. “Who’s idea was this?”

Midoriya’s too busy gathering their things, fins shuddering with each blast of air that sweeps the beach, to pay much attention to his bitching. What he does decide to yell back is: “It wasn’t forecast to rain today!”

“Could’ve fooled me.”

“C’mon—“ Midoriya turns to latch onto his sleeve, claws threatening to puncture the fabric. Wide eyes follow the line between Hitoshi’s shoulders and the horizon behind him; whatever he sees sends scales blossoming up his cheeks. “We need to get out of the open. It looks like it’s gonna start raining any—”

There’s no actual warning. Between one second and the next, a sheet of rain curtains the entire area. Hitoshi staggers under its sheer gravity.

“— second now,” Midoriya finishes, resigned.

Oh, also the twin sister is the OG Ladybug, and Marinette has to take her place after her sister dies.

Did I mention I made her sisters name is Emma? As in, the name Marinette wanted to use for her future kids? Yeah. Think about it.

Btw, which is more tragic? Marinette losing her twin, somebody who was with her from the very womb? Or her older sister, who took care of her from day 1, taught her how to ride a bike, gave her boy advice, and was always a phone call away whenever she was in trouble?

“Where are you going, my lady?” Chat Noir asked his red-clad partner. “You have plenty of time before you detransform.” They had finished off the akuma seconds after Lucky Charm and they didn’t even need Cataclysm at all.

Ladybug smiled. “I have a previous engagement and I’m quite late. I wasn’t expecting an akuma today.” She looked down at the ground. “Hey, Chat?”

“You okay, Bugaboo?”

She took a deep breath and forced a smile. “Yeah, I’m fine. I just really really need a few days off. Any chance you could handle the city without for a bit? Just put the akumas in jars if anything happens.” She reached out and touched her partner’s cheek. “I absolutely trust you to be fine. You are Paris’ hero just as much as I am. Not my sidekick. My hero. I love you.”

Chat Noir’s heart kicked up a million beats. “Ladybug,what’s going on?”

She sighed and smiled for real this time. “As a friend, obviously. You’re like my little sister’s age. And I already said that I’m totally fine, Chaton. I just don’t feel like I say it enough. I love you. You are the little brother I never had and I love you so much. So take care of the city for me, okay? I’ll be back before you know it.”

He grabbed her hand, stopping her from leaving. “Ladybug, tell me what is going on. You’re scaring me. Do you need help? Is it Papillon?”

“Do not worry. Everything is okay. In fact, things are hopefully going to be a lot better after today. When I see you on Friday, I’m gonna bring your favorite macaroons, kay? We’ll have a picnic on the roof.” She kissed his cheek and, taking advantage of her partner’s lovestruck distraction, swung off in the direction of the hospital.

“I wish you would stop acting like you’re going to die,” Tikki said as Emma detransformed. “You’re just donating a kidney. The mortality rate is 0.03%. You really expect Lady Luck to be one of three in ten thousand?”

“How likely is it that my baby sister would be dying from kidney failure at fifteen, huh? How likely is it that despite being at the top of the list for over a year, a compatible kidney has never come? How likely is all that, Tikki?” Emma started crying. Tikki knew that Emma was terrified. She knew that Emma would never forgive herself for hoping and praying every day that some O-neg guy would be brain dead from a motorcycle accident.

“I know. I know. I’m just trying to tell you what you told Chat, that you’re going to wake up after surgery and both you and Marinette are going to be healthy and fine and all will be well. And I know you were just putting on a face but I am not. You will be okay, Emma.”

The nineteen year old girl pulled out a drawing of Ladybug that Marinette made. “This is what Mari always said I should look like. Make sure her costume looks like this. She complains just about every day that Ladybug looks like she’s wearing PJs.”

Tikki hugged her. “While I disagree that you need to be making these arrangements because you will be fine, I’m proud of you for being mature enough to do an advanced directive just in case. You told your parents to not let Marinette open it unless she was 100% alone, right?”

Emma chuckled. “Of course I did. I even wrote it down in case emotion clouds their memories. You’re sure Master Fu will be okay with me choosing the next Ladybug?”

Tikki crossed her arms. “Master Fu is with me that you’ll wake up tomorrow embarrassed that you wrote up a will, but yes, he thinks your judgement is wise.”

Emma scrunched up her face. “You know, I can understand you guys making fun of me for being actually scared but you know that Mari wouldn’t have made her AD and Living Will if her big sis didn’t.”

“Yes, yes, yes. I agree both of those need to be less stigmatized. You did a good thing. Blah blah blah. Now hurry up and dry your face. You’re needed for pre-op in an hour and you should get some extra family time in since you’re so worried about dying from a simple surgery.” Emma laughed. “Now go!”

“Thanks, Tikki. I love you.”

“I love you too. Now stop telling people you’re gonna die.”

Marinette woke up with her parents next to her. “Did the surgery work? Do I have a working kidney?” Her father was sobbing loudly. “Oh no…. how long do I have?”

Her mother held her hand. “Your surgery was a success, baby. You’re going to live a very long life.”

“Then why is Dad-” Marinette started hyperventilating. “Where’s Emma?” “Where is my sister?!”

Awwwww, I love that this has been all pre-organized by Emma from before the surgery even happened! She seemed like a really good Ladybug too, so it makes it even sadder.

Okay, meta moment:

if you read the “voice” in Sora’s Station of Awakening as Ven (which I do), then the three weapon types become fascinatingly representative. As does what is said about them.

The power of the mystic. Inner strength. A staff of wonder and ruin.

So if Ven is the Mystic, what does the “Wonder and Ruin” mean, the X-Blade?

I was thinking of Ven as the warrior, with the “sword of terrible destruction” as the X-blade. With Aqua as the mystic, then…well, it’s not as definite since her character arc is less dramatic, but while her Keyblade has brought her to so many beautiful places, it hasn’t really made her happy, has it?

so i mentioned something about this a while back, but i’m sort of working on a crossover bnha/pkmn au. the general premise are characters & quirks existing in the pokemon world regions, the kids are “trainers in training”, and quirks aren’t the entire forefront of the story like in canon

i have this idea that people with animal-like appearances will resemble specific pokemon while still keeping their own uniqueness about them

for an example here’s my take on tokoyami

as you can see, not a whole lot changes about him. he probably takes after honchkrow more than murkrow in this, but it fits the world it takes place in more. if he looked exactly like a murkrow then it’d just be weird; there’s only so many bird pokemon before people with mutations like this start looking like each other. don’t ask how he gets shirts on though… (also poké ball choker and “dusk ball” hoodie)

i’ve been on & off writing the first chapter and i’d like to post it sometime eventually. the idea is honestly pretty ridiculous but i’m really into it right now and i hope when i post it you’ll all enjoy it too!
