Still obsessed with Zuko being the least nonchalant person on the planet about wanting to sit next to Katara at the play.

Like what did he do that for? There is no explanation that does not involve him having a soft spot for her. She's his favorite.

Also this is definitely me being delusional OR maybe I'm just piecing together the vast conspiracy some of the animators were in on to secretly code the body language idk let me eat my crumbs in peace, BUT,

The scene of the play where her and Jet's actors are flirting and being embarrassing:

She brings her hand bashfully to shield her left side and turns to the right, in Toph's direction even though Toph is the one laughing at her, like she's more embarrassed in front of the person on her left side despite Toph being the one laughing, and is turning away/shielding herself from looking at him or being looked at by him. And then,

in the last frame she glances back in his direction but her eyes are still downcast, like she's trying to see his reaction without being obvious that she cares.

Every frame matters in animation.

Zuko being the only person to tell Katara to rest keeps me up at night, but honestly it's also Katara's reaction, "don't you worry about my strength, I have plenty" that gets me as well, cos its such a partners thing to say.

Yeah, she's being short with him, but she doesn't go 'you think I'm not strong enough?' Or 'why should you care?' Or anything like that. It's not confrontational or evasive.

It has this 'stop fussing' vibe that doesn't quite line up with the hatred and mistrust she's meant to be feeling toward him.

'I care about you, take care of yourself' -> 'I know you do, but I'll be fine'

I think I redid it like 4 times, and I still not satisfied with the end result, but to this point I'm tired,

Just thinking about how the only two characters who Katara was the most vulnerable with about her deepest personal issues (purely for her own sake) were Hakoda and Zuko.

And the only two characters who Zuko deprived himself of sleep for, out of humility were Uncle Iroh and Katara.

Make of this what you will, I just thought it was interesting how they do something special only with each other and their parental figure.
