Jadebloods have a higher chance of being adopted by insect like Lusii due to their proximity to the caves.

The most common custodians are Skitterbeasts, the Lancer subspecies to be precise, the only Skitterbeasts of a high enough intelligence to be considered a Lusus.

They are numerous and wide spread. Drones*(not to be confused with the imperial drones) carve intricate tunnels through the underground and are a welcome sight in the brooding caverns as pest control, occasionally one will pick up a grub that has made it’s way past the numerous dangers and towards the surface, carrying it back into the underground and to its nest where one of three things will happen

One, the grub is dropped and forgotten as the Drone receives a new order from the Queen Skitterbeast, left to starve.

Two, the grub is taken to the food storage and eaten by the inhabitants.

Three, The grub is presented to the queen and if not eaten, will be adopted by her immediately.

The queen will take care of the grub personally*, taking it to the surface and ensuring it has a hive built directly above the nest or moved into an existing one if the queen has adopted before.

Jadeblooded grubs are the only known blood caste that a Queen Lancer will accept.

Male* Lancer’s have been known to adopt as low as Mustard and as high as Teal but never Jade

*Drones and Soldiers within the nest are all female

*Queens raising progeny(future skitter queens) will not take on grubs, but if a queen has a grub she will put off laying and raising any progeny.

*Male Lancer Skitterbeasts are not as common as drones or soliders but far more common then queens. They look drastically different to the females as well. Only males past their breeding prime will become custodians.

Work-in- Progress, kinda.

I’ve been taking a break from the plot to finish all these cute shippy arts I’ve wanted to do. :b And most importantly, finally finish my height chart project. Oddly enough, I’ve almost always made height charts around the end of years. Traditiooooon

Gleran is the final addition to the cast, and though I still have to edit the others a bunch, I just really wanted to work on him now. I’m not even sure why I included him, he’s a minor character. Though he’s a major influence on Dox and Daikah, so there’s that.
