yanagichiri:
Former joy is replaced by hesitance as she catches sight of one she holds closest to her heart. Mikoto’s love has not waned, will never wane, but she has no way of guaranteeing the same from her child.
For better or for worse, Takumi ran off to get them both something to drink. She’s alone, for now, stewing in apprehension mixed with a catastrophically strong urge to throw caution to the wind and embrace her flesh and blood. She knows sooner or later, their eyes will meet, or worse, the moment will pass her by.
She can’t afford to wait. Even with the horrid point their last meeting had settled on, even with the decision the other ended up making, Mikoto will never regret her actions.
She makes sure to put on a familiar, warm smile as she approaches, strides more assured than she feels. One hand is curled into a loose fist over her chest, thumb rubbing on her index from an old habit. When she speaks, she’s still a distance away.
‘ Corrin… ’ She calls, hoping her voice carries over the city’s noise. ‘ I’m so thankful I get to see you again. Have you been doing well? I hope you have been. ’ >> @fatedepiction (sc.)
Fate could never not touch Corrin in their every day life, and today was a day that it would play a bigger part in it. A day that it would challenge every fiber of their being, and put everything they’d built upon since the first time they’d been able to meet again to the test.
Her voice is louder than anything the city can produce.
It strikes at their mind and heart harshly, but with killer accuracy. Mikoto’s intentions are nothing more than to see her own flesh and blood again. To have a few more moments together that they both had wished for back on that fateful day. Guilt immediately wells up as the dragon born’s eyes confirm the face of the voice that had caused so much damage.
“Mother...” her voice cracks, fingertips twitching at her sides. Is that their nerves? Anxiety? Or discontent in theirself? Could they even call her that now? Or ever? What right do they have.
The wave finally settles over her, and she’s paralyzed. Knowing how she should feel, but finding it lacking. At least she knows she feels genuinely grateful that the Queen of Hoshido- the Queen of former Valla- Their mother, is not suffering. A single step is taken towards the late royalty.
What could they say to her? What did they want to say?
“Are-..Are you really here?” if they took another step towards her would she evaporate into nothingness? Their heart is exploding in the chest as they wait to see, to hear, body experiencing a painful numbness in the wake of the moving time.
