May your love for yourself become so strong that you no longer need validation from someone else.
as you get older, you realize that you’re not always right and there’s so many things you could’ve handled better, so many situations where you could’ve been kinder and all you can really do is forgive yourself and let your mistakes make you a better person.

“Instead of saying ‘I’m damaged, I’m broken, I have trust issues’ say ‘I’m healing, I’m rediscovering myself, I’m starting over.’ Positive self-talk.”
— Horation James
i cannot stress this enough, young ladies.
find a slightly older female friend. like… two to ten years older than you. they will save your life, they will teach you so much, they will give you such great life lessons. they are so vital and helpful and important.
If she says no. Then she means no. It doesn’t mean “maybe” or “yes.” It means no. Don’t pressure her. She said no. No means no.

sometimes i forget how many times i’ve picked myself off the floor, how many times i’ve washed away smudgy makeup and put myself to bed. how many times i’ve said no to something unhealthy. said yes to something good. how many times i’ve treated myself with kindness and patience. i forget how many times i’ve tended to wounds and made peace with my own anger. if i was taking care of a body that was not my own, i’d believe i was doing everything i could. so here’s to remembering that i’m doing the best i can.
Don’t ask yourself why someone’s hurting you. Ask yourself why you’re letting them hurt you.

The weight is gone. he’s not in your life anymore. flirt with the boy in your chemistry class and talk about him with your best friend at lunch. realize how good it feels to have moved on. delete all of your old messages. delete his number from your phone and don’t write it down anywhere. stop looking for his car whenever you’re out driving. he’s never going to pull into your driveway with an apology at the ready. he’s never gonna fuckin miss you. and that’s fine. that’s fine. you can still wear your shirt that has that band he likes because he doesn’t own anything in your life. you can still see that basketball logo without feeling like throwing up. he doesn’t own that either. it’s okay to miss it sometimes. but never try to go back. don’t romanticize this past year because he never loved you. and you never loved him. you were just kids, that’s all. you didn’t know any better. you couldn’t have.
he was never that good at caring anyway– lily rain (via wont-time-love-us)
you gotta get to that point where a man who disrespects you becomes unattractive. that you become disgusted by a man who doesn’t treat you like you deserve to be treated. where it’s such a turn off to be with a man like that that no matter how you felt before, you know it’s time to get up and go. it’s a part of working on your self esteem, even when you’re not single
