What the HELL did they do to the White House website?
Okay we’re going through this bit by bit.
First of all, this is the first thing that pops up when you visit the website:
But wait, it gets worse.
Once you get in, you see that Trump’s inauguration takes up the entire main page. You know what? I’m fine with that. I mean it makes sense.
What I’m not fine with is this:
As of yesterday (I’m on the Wayback Machine), these are the issues that the Obama Administration listed, leading to pages which went into detail about these issues and what the Administration was doing about them.
Again, that’s from the Obama Administration.
This is the current Issues Tab under the Trump Administration:
No, I haven’t cropped it. That’s it. That’s the entire list. All of those are the issues that Trump’s Administration cares about.
The civil rights page? Gone. Climate change page? Gone. Health care page? Gone. Disabilities page? Gone. It’s all gone. Everything is gone.
They also completely took away all of the pages on Obama’s initiatives, all of the pages on internships and involvement in the White house, all of the pages on different ways to protest (other than the We The People petitions), and for some reason, they even took out most of the pages in the history section. The famous virtual tour? Gone. A detailed history about the architecture, the decor, even theee customs and traditions? Gone.
But here’s the best part.
Most of the ‘Briefing’ section has been cleaned out as well and the tab for weekly addresses has been completely removed.
Well isn’t that just…disturbing?
It’s worth noting that this happens every presidency, the Obama administration’s whitehouse.gov will be archived and none of this was taken down by Clownstick himself. Not that it makes me feel ANY better about the next four years, but for once it’s not on DOFUS
So just for you, I spent the past half hour tediously searching through the Wayback Machine.
This was the page Obama had right after he took office after Bush:
Notice how, even though the website changed overnight, he still put in a huge list of issues including virtually every one listed on the website yesterday?
But wait, there’s more.
I went back and looked at how Bush’s page looked before the Obama Administration changed it. And guess what? Bush had an entire list of issues that resembled the ones listed on the website yesterday.
But wait!
There’s more!
Back when the Internet was new and the webpage was just a bunch of text, Clinton had an entire list of issues like the ones listed on the website yesterday.
So, no, this isn’t something that always happens. The website changes but the issues have always stayed the same and they’ve always been prominently displayed.
Until now.
TRUMP IS NOT NORMAL DO NOT NORMALIZE HIM
Shortly after Donald Trump was sworn into office as the 45th President of the United States, all foreign ambassadors were fired and with no concrete replacement ambassadors lined up. Mr Trump had demanded that every ambassador in countries all over the world, who had been appointed by former President Barack Obama, were told to leave their offices by midday on 20 January and with no grace period.
Here is probably the most interesting part of the article.
It is common policy, however, that politically appointed ambassadors resign at the start of a new administration. It is less common to have no replacements in line.
As many as 80 ambassadors for countries, agencies and issues - such as the ambassador for global women’s issues - have been discarded at once.
The move now threatens leaving many countries without Senate-confirmed envoys for months and cutting off a direct line to the President, and some in countries which have sensitive relations to the US.
Wait… seriously?
Seriously and it’ll take a while to fill those spots.
Octavia Spencer kicked of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend with a generous gift in honor of her late mother.
“My mom would not have been able to afford to take me and my siblings. So, I’m honoring her and all single parents this #mlkweekend,” she said.
The gesture inspired Spencer’s Hidden Figures costar Taraji P. Henson, who also spread the word about the screening on her Instagram page.
Hidden Figures is not just an incredible movie, it is a phenomenon that brings people together and inspires them to do amazing things. This is just the beginning.
Using holocaust victims to defend makeup yas
ITS STILL FUCKING THE WORST TO GIVE STARVING WOMEN LIPSTICK????????? WTF??? beauty >/> health you sick bastards and WHY is it that women feel better and NORMAL when they wear makeup????? JESUS FUCK
My grandmother was an Auschwitz survivor-an Auschwitz survivor who was in her 7 or 8th month of pregnancy, newly widowed and praying her baby, the last piece of her husband on Earth could be healthy despite all her privations during her pregnancy. She couldn’t have given a fuck about lipstick. Lipstick was not given to make the survivors feel normal, it was given so British men didn’t feel so uncomfortable looking at sick and dying women. The source for this info is by the way from a journal of a British officer. He implied in his diary that all these dead and dying women in Bergen-Belsen were made individuals again but nothing could be further from the truth. Instead of caring for people they painted everyone’s lips exactly the same red and watched them die. But leave it to “Make-Up Addiction” to find the story “up-lifting.”
Disgusting.
holy shit…
found the source for the lipstick story:
“Piles of corpses, naked and obscene, with a woman too weak to stand propping herself against them as she cooked the food we had given her over an open fire; men and women crouching down just anywhere in the open relieving themselves of the dysentery which was scouring their bowels, a woman standing stark naked washing herself with some issue soap in water from a tank in which the remains of a child floated.
It was shortly after the British Red Cross arrived, though it may have no connection, that a very large quantity of lipstick arrived. This was not at all what we men wanted, we were screaming for hundreds and thousands of other things and I don’t know who asked for lipstick. I wish so much that I could discover who did it, it was the action of genius, sheer unadulterated brilliance. I believe nothing did more for those internees than the lipstick. Women lay in bed with no sheets and no nightie but with scarlet red lips, you saw them wandering about with nothing but a blanket over their shoulders, but with scarlet red lips. I saw a woman dead on the post mortem table and clutched in her hand was a piece of lipstick. At last someone had done something to make them individuals again, they were someone, no longer merely the number tattooed on the arm. At last they could take an interest in their appearance. That lipstick started to give them back their humanity.”
the officer’s reaction doesn’t make much sense to me logically, but i understand why he wanted to think that the lipstick at least made a difference. however, it is a fact that women falling dead onto piles of corpses mixed with diarrhea doesn’t suddenly become a dignified way to go simply because they had “scarlet red lips”.
i don’t see the reasoning behind the claims that soldiers just wanted to make women pretty with said lipstick though. from what it looks like, they gave lipstick because they were donated a stash of it or something like that. if they could give food or medicine instead, they would — judging by this officer’s words at least.
what is genuinely alarming here is people in modern days taking this story and framing it as “uplifting” and a proof that makeup is godsent or whatever. siting a story with piles of corpses as #yasmakeup is plain inhuman and reeks of the same type of faux activism as “save second base" pink ribbon crap. disgraceful.
“Women lay in bed with no sheets and no nightie but with scarlet red lips, you saw them wandering about with nothing but a blanket over their shoulders, but with scarlet red lips.” The man recounting this scene was clearly pleased to see all of these dying and dead women made up. Not once does he reference their actual feelings or recount something one of the women might have said on the subject. He was relieved to have imminent death hidden by scarlet red lips. It made it easier to not notice any individual and connect with her. They were just faceless, nameless red lips. The makeup was for the comfort of British soldiers not for the comfort of the women who even dying were forced to perform femininity for their non-rescuers. Not one of them thought “I’m too weak to feed myself [remember that in addition to disease being rife Nazis also experimented with poisoning their captives] but I think I’ll put on some rouge just for fun.”
“At last they could take an interest in their appearance.”
And the list goes on …
It is *destroying* Cheeto Hitler that nobody who is worth a damn wants to be present for, or perform at, his inauguration. Good. Fuck him and his illegitimate presidency. I hope he’s miserable.
Ok with this being said, I’d like to speak in defense of one of the groups that is performing for the inauguration.
The Rockettes are being hired out to perform for him. These girls actively cannot turn down the job without being blacklisted from dancing. We shouldn’t be angry with those girls, who are trying to survive and live their dream and make an honest living, but rather the asshat who’s hiring them out, who I’ve heard has at least some connection to Trump, being a major Mogul who runs the agency that schedules performances for different dance companies and so on in NY.
So I’m sorry if anyone disagrees, but I feel really bad for the Rockettes, because I have a friend who is being forced to perform at the inauguration if she wants to continue being part of the literal 1.4% of dancers in NYC to actually have a paying job they can live off of, and I know many of those girls are in the same situation, just doing what they have to to keep their jobs.
So if you want to be angry, be angry at Trump and at the guy who is selling out the Rockettes for his inauguration. But please, do not boycott the Rockettes for this. They’re hardworking, talented women who don’t deserve to be shunned by their audiences just because they can’t do anything to refuse this job and still make a living to survive.
A hero without a cape
Her name is Theresa Kachindamoto, and she is a senior chief - political leader of a region with a population of about 900,000 people.
She didn’t run for election; she was appointed, without her knowledge, while she was living and working in a completely different part of the country. She just received a call one day telling her to come back to her childhood home, because she was in charge now.
So she did; and when she arrived, she discovered widespread sexual abuse of children. She browbeat 50 uncooperative local leaders into accepting her decision to annul all the marriages. She then fired four of them when they continued to allow children to be married off in their areas. She still faces widespread opposition from parents who consider it their right to sexually abuse their daughters if they want to; but Kachindamoto very evidently does not give a fuck, and is continuing to use political and legal means to protect children in the region.
She’s not just an anonymous do-gooder; she’s an effective political leader despite incredibly difficult circumstances. Theresa Kachindamoto.

happy hanukkah!!!!
Good riddance to Andrew “Trail of Tears” Jackson.
Andrew Jackson also is an American War hero, and defeated those Native American Tribes to further the cause of America. And so we should have him on the bill because guess what. HE MADE AMERICA BETTER.
Andrew Jackson is only considered a war hero because he lead some soldiers to victory in the Battle Of New Orleans, which took place after the Treaty of Ghent ended the War of 1812. The only battle of The War of 1812 that America definitively won took place after the war was over. The fact that he was a “war hero” allowed him to use blatant populism to rise to power. The Indian Removal Act did further the idea of manifest destiny and expanded America, but theres no reason to assume thats inherently a good thing. In hindsight we can clearly see thats not a piece of history that we should be proud of.
Furthermore, Jackson’s distrust of banks and flagrant misunderstanding of economics lead to the Panic of 1837 that fucked over America until the mid 1840s. So no, he didn’t make America better.
Nah he took out the native americans that were in the way of development. He made American better
it was genocide, pal
Shoutout to government-inc for being so bad at reading both a history textbook and a moral compass.
Let Jewish people have “goyim.” Let gays and lesbians have the “heteros/straights.” Let black people complain about “crackers.” Let Latinos have the “gringos.” Let PoC have white people jokes. Let women complain about men.
Let marginalized people express distance from their oppressors. Let the marginalized turn their oppressors into the Other. Let marginalized people exist in a way that inconveniences and irritates their oppressors, because the oppressors have been doing worse for years.
Green, who lost her parents young, was raised by her aunt and uncle. While still at school, her aunt died from cancer, and three months later her uncle was diagnosed with cancer, too. Green went on to earn her degree in physics at Alabama A&M University, being crowned Homecoming Queen while she was at it, before going on full scholarship to University of Alabama in Birmingham to earn her Masters and Ph.D. There Green would become the first to work out how to deliver nanoparticles into cancer cells exclusively, so that a laser could be used to remove them, and then successfully carry out her treatment on living animals.
source
her studies thus far are only on head and neck cancers, but her theory is this treatment platform would work on all types of cancers. But needs $$$$ to keep doing research.
It seems the issue is how to target the cancer cells and in her head and neck cancer tests, she had success in mice by utilizing fda approved immunotherepy antibodies to deliver nano particles to mark the tumor. Then she could proceed to blast the shit out of cancer with fuckin lasers.
she was ready or prepared when opportunity arose
I’m so proud of her. I wish more young black women would go into science.
#BLACKGIRLMAGIC
Yes!!!!! If she really does cure cancer, watch her name & face disappear behind some white man.
Dear non-natives
The Plains warbonnet is not a Cherokee thing. It is not a Navajo thing. It is not an Indian thing. It is a Plains thing.
Stop calling every silly thing you draw that even vaguely resembles a native “Cherokee” or “Navajo” or “Aztec.”
Stop drawing the warbonnet everywhere as the apparently definitive native thing. It isn’t part of all of our 600+ cultures.
Same goes for the tipi, not part of every one of the 600+ indigenous cultures.
Stop thinking that if a native person doesn’t have dark, “mahogany” skin, that their heritage is invalid. Even without admixture, we actually do have varying skin tones.
Stop wearing crappy fake warbonnets.
Stop wearing redface.
Stop using us as your silly mascots. We are people.
Stop saying “spirit animal.” It’s derived from a New Age bastardization of a something that actually exists in some of our cultures.
Don’t smudge. Cleanse all you like, that’s fine, but don’t smudge.
Don’t call us “Indians.” “Native American” isn’t great either, it is not our name, but it’s slightly better than “Indian.” “Indigenous” is also fine.
Don’t use NDN/ndn. That is ours.
Step off about our hair. If you meet a long-haired native, admire it if you like, maybe even ask them about it (RESPECTFULLY), but do not touch. The same applies for someone with short hair, but additionally for those with short hair, don’t say things like “oh you’d look more native/Indian/etc if your hair was long.” We didn’t all traditionally have long, flowing hair. Believe it or not, there are actually different haircuts existing in our various cultures, and aside from that ultimately it’s a personal choice, one does not need to have long hair if they don’t want to. Doesn’t make them any less native to have short hair.
Don’t pray to our spirits/gods/energies. Native spiritualities are closed, they are not for outsiders.
Don’t say “The Native Americans believed…” Firstly, the past tense is silly, we still exist and do things. Secondly, we are NOT A MONOLITH. As I mentioned before, there are upwards of 600 different Native American cultures.
Don’t ask about someone’s “Indian name.” That’s not only insensitive, the name you are referring to in that instance is something sacred, and might not be something that person wants to share with you.
Don’t call yourself silly crap like “howling wolf” or “flying eagle.” That’s also racist and insensitive.
Regardless of whatever you might think you’re doing, or what your intentions may be, if a native person tells you that what you’re doing is disrespectful, STOP DOING IT.
You aren’t honoring us. You’re just mocking us further, demonstrating your continued ability to treat us like shit and get away with it even now, centuries after our colonization began. Your feelings are not more important than our history and survival.
To those doing your best as allies, thank you, keep doing what you do. HOWEVER, don’t let opportunities to educate others escape you. By letting them continue to be ignorant, you are failing. Spread the message.
There will be no “please.” It’s been more than 500 years, and we still are made to be invisible in our homelands. Still we are treated like less. Some even think we all died long ago.
We are still here
We will still be here
Treat us with respect.
Appropriation of Native cultures runs rampant in the pagan/witchcraft community. Remember, it’s just like kindergarten. Be kind, be respectful, and ask before touching something that does not belong to you. -Bri
Reblogging to remind people that Native American and First Nation peoples deserve respect, and they deserve to be heard and heeded. And that when they speak, we need to sit down, shut up, and not talk over them. Because nine times out of ten, we only THINK we know what we’re talking about. (Spoiler Alert: We don’t.)
These are real people, with very real grievances. They are not curiosities or museum pieces, and they are not relegated to the pages of history. They are still here, and like the OP said, they deserve to be treated with respect.
If someone tells you that something you’re doing is hurtful to them, YOU DO NOT GET TO DECIDE THAT IT ISN’T.
(Also, if I see one more white hipster shithead with a fakey warbonnet, Macha’s going to have an unexpected harvest this year.)

PRAY FOR CARRIE FISHER. PRAYERS DO GREAT THINGS!
carrie fisher isn’t just princess leia. carrie fisher isn’t just an actress we all admire from a famous series of movies made a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. carrie fisher isn’t just another name on the list of shitty things 2016 has done to people i admire.
carrie fisher is a woman who struggled with addiction and mental illness and never sugar coated it - she spoke honestly, openly, about every ugly truth, and made me so much less ashamed of the things i struggle with in my daily life.
carrie fisher is a woman who fought back against body shaming and misogyny, against agesim, who looked at critics and said “yes, i am a woman who has aged, and had children, and struggled with depression and addiction and my body has changed, so you can just shut the fuck up and deal with it”, and it was absolutely beautiful.
carrie fisher is a woman who was placed in the role of “princess” but didn’t conform to the typical hollywood idea of what a princess should be. she’s loud, brash, crass, and unapologetic for being so.
she’s an idol and an inspiration and she’s a woman who saved my life many times just by being who she was and never shying away from it or feeling the need to say sorry. carrie fisher is so much and more and i cannot begin to stomach the thought of 2016 taking her away from me, from her family, from the rest of the world and those of us who love her so dearly.
i love you, space momma. we all do. keep fighting the good fight.
The backlash to Tracer having a girlfriend proves we need more representation
For people who identify as LGBTQ, or who have friends and family members who do, one queer character in a video game probably doesn’t seem like a big deal. When you’re surrounded by progressive ideas about sexuality and gender, it’s easy to dismiss these dissenting opinions as a vocal minority, but the outcry should serve as a sobering reminder of how important — and massive — of an achievement this really is.

Shhhhhh…
Shhhhhhh…
Can you hear…
Can you hear it?
That distant sound?
respectability politics is how we get people saying the entire BLM movement is a hate movement because some of the protests became riots or because some of the protesters chanted “fuck the police”, but when it comes to Neo-Nazis, they’re happy to engage them in “polite debate” because they appear “dapper” and calm/reasonable. it’s how people genuinely believe that “antifa are as bad as fascists” because we use violence against them.
it all comes back down to this bizarre preoccupation with how nice and polite someone seems, rather than the content of their ideas and their overall goals.
