Also wanted to add that with the concept of Project Hail Mary and the MCU being within the same universe/timeline, whats introduced into the plot for PHM is the Blip. 😼
Soooo, what about Ilyukhina and Yao didnt die, instead they got blipped, and for the sake of plot and headcanons, when they come back, they come back to where they were in the ship, and not into their actual position (which would have left them floating in space). Also for the sake of plot, the entire film (minus the flashback) spans over 5 years, so that it fits with the timeframe of the Blip.
Now think about like Ilyukhina and Yao, waking up in the Hail Mary, and its full of bullshit structures and like little enclosure-looking things. To their shock, they arent dead, looking out the window shows a FUCKING BEACH (assuming thats where the ship is), and their last-second replacement crew member is out there chatting to a bunch of melodious little rock spiders.
Idk what kind of reaction theyd have though, because its not exactly an average thing to have to react to upon coming back from death lmao.
