For fallynleaf, who prompted me with: Peggy and Angie go to see a movie, and it’s not really that scary, but Angie is a wimp, so Peggy cuddles her to comfort her. This is my first time writing these two, eep! Also, it’s still February, so looks like this will be my contribution to Femslash February!
"Are you sure you’re quite alright?" Peggy whispers into the perfectly coiffed curl just above Angie’s ear.
"I’m fine," Angie replies shortly. "Perfectly fine. Where’s that popcorn?"
Peggy hands the container over and allows the beginnings of a fond smile to creep across her face as Angie stares determinedly at the screen and very intently pops piece after piece of a handful of popcorn into her mouth. She decides against pointing out that it was Angie who had seen the advert for the latest Hitchcock movie in the paper and suggested that they check it out when they both have a free evening.
On screen, Cary Grant knocks over a wine bottle and Angie nearly jumps out of her seat. Peggy bites her cheek hard to keep from laughing aloud.
Angie seems to sense Peggy’s mirth anyway and pinches her on the arm in retaliation. “It’s tense, okay? This is a tense scene. Not all of us are hard-boiled spy ladies like you, you know,” she hisses, half into Peggy’s neck.
"Indeed not. And it is a tense scene, even this hard-boiled spy lady can admit that,” Peggy soothes, amused at the way Angie continues to keep one eye on the action despite her unease.
Angie sighs in obvious relief as Claude Rains just misses Cary Grant in the wine cellar, and Peggy finally gives in to quiet chuckles. Angie loudly harrumphs, making a face when the lady two rows in front of them turns around to shush her, and manuevers Peggy’s arm to drape it around her shoulders. “Shut up and cuddle me, English,” she mutters.
Peggy and Angie are watching Notorious, which was released in 1946.
