She lives. That’s the most important part.
Alex tried to kill her. He betrayed her, hurt her in a way that nobody has ever hurt her before. Alex taught her many things, but the last lesson - about who she can and cannot trust - is the hardest one by far.
This story is told from Red Daughter’s POV and the small and bigger parts of her new life are all beautifully written:
How she picks a new name (she does not like Linda - the alias that Lex had picked for her), how she slowly starts to build a new life for herself in an unfamiliar environment - for the first time truly making decisions for herself.
And how she slowly becomes friends with Kara; and maybe something more.
This is a sweet and very well written story. I loved it.
This is my new ultimate rarepair of 2019!
Linda Lee is the name on the lease to her apartment, the name on her bank card and the photo identification card Alex - Lex - gave to her. Every time she uses it now, it itches. It’s a name that he chose and she used to feel proud of it but now she just feels hurt. Betrayal and anger and sadness have mixed together and they boil in the pit of her stomach when she thinks of him, until she feels like she might be sick.
