SURFACE DWARF
My Hawke's husband <3
Did ok for not having played it for over a decade. This was my second try. On the first I only got 13.
The Chantry / The Inquisition faction for DATV
A part of my worldstate i wish to share; many aspects of the faction are tailored specifically to my own worldstate, but other are not, and I encourage to take from this what you want and make your own spin!
I just realized that (for me at least) there's a slight air about Blackwall that reminds me of Colonel Brandon from Sense & Sensibility (specifically Alan Rickman's portrayal from -95)
The thought triggered from banter between him and Sera. Blackwall is light and playful, almost a little like Brandon at the end of the movie. Also both coming from military and having tragic backstories probably had something to do with it too.
They are both a little broken, silent and humble - weathered. And they love DEEPLY if and when they fall inlove.
Anyway just a thought I had.
Did anyone realise the text used on this book by Varric has actual readable text in it? As in not using Lorem Ipsum but real text? The following I managed - With some hellp from the translator AI on google bc I couldn't fully read some of the tiny words. It's not 100% as I know for a fact the AI fixed some of the grammar mistakes I could spot and it also skipped a few sentences. I also noticed page 2 was mirrored so I fixed that while researching it. The shown images is the original I found on the wiki with the mirrored page. After getting google to get out most of the bread text I edited it to make it make more sense (It was calling the Chantry 'the Chonley' for example. Anyway this is what I managed to get out of it. Thought someone might find it interesting as I haven't seen anyone mention this before online.
In the ancient past. The city that is now Kirkwall was once the heart of the Empire. It was the heart of pure trade, a place that held nearly a million slaves taken from foreign lands, as well as the more barbaric regions to the east and south. They were transported there by ship and thrown into the unfathomable depths of the city's industrial mas-stone quarries and a sea of ââflames that produced the steel for the rest of the Empire. The city grew rapidly beyond the dreams of the warriors, but it was all built on the backs of slavery. This was a place of barbarity and deeper darkness, a place that few escaped, and when it finally turned against the Empire, a wrath rose here that was rarely seen. The city that stands today is built on the ruins of a past, one that most cultures today would prefer to forget.
The two most prominent features of Hightown are the Keep, the home to the city's ruling Vicount and his court, and the Chantry, home to the Grand Cleric and the center of religious worship in the city. These are both ancient structures dating back to the time of the Empire. Home to the wealthiest mages and badly damaged after the city's fall long ago. Both have been rebuilt and embellished, and the wealthy cluster in the houses around the Keep and Chantry. From their position in the city, which depends entierly on their seats of power, white clad towers extend from the steps of the High market, bordering the somber building of the Dwarven Merchant's Guild. In more gorgeous areas the growing power of [Orlais] (Orlais? I think it sais Orlais - google sucked with this word XD ) shows itself in the flatteringly - [ This is where I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it said and google made 0 sense in contrast to the source text in the image with it's interpretation. I thiiink it sais something about maybe emerald? and the Grandchathedral?
googles interpretation:
" clearlu show the elaborate ornate walls, as the "tower"/Keep have been trimmed to incredible gothic grandeur]
Also fun thing I've noticed. This booktitle reads "Hightown Romance"
*Runs to a03 to make it happen XD*
Name: Idunna Gwendolyn Cousland (nĂŠe Mac Curaidh(son of champion)Â Â
Title:Teyrna of Highever
Age: Born 9:10 Dragon, early 50s
Hometown: Starkhaven in the Free Marches
Current Residence: Highever in Ferelden
Occupation: Former royal guard of Starkhaven,Teyrna of Highever.
Talents/Skills: Weapon and Shield, Battlemaster
Spouse: Fergus Cousland, Teyrn of Highever                  Â
Children: Rhiannon, Elanor, Lillian, Michael and Amethyne(adopted elven ward)   Â
Siblings: She is an only child                               Â
Parents: Captain Michael Mac Curaidh, Lady Rebecca Mac Curaidh
Bio:
Idunna is the daughter of Captain Michael Mac Curaidh, former head of the Starkhavenâs royal guard and a noblewoman named Rebecca who died when Idunna was a teenager. She was early taught in the art of combat by her father and as she matured she was considered just as deadly on the battlefield as she was beautiful. She joined the guard when she came of age and worked alongside her father on the day the Vael family was assassinated. A memory that haunts them both to this day. She miraculously came out of it unscathed while her father was gravely wounded and lost the ability to walk, forcing him to be bound to a wheelchair. The family fled and found a new home in Ferelden.
She met the widowed Teyrn of Highever during a banquet at his home in 9:36(introduced to each other by Fergusâ sister, the Queen of Ferelden) and they were married within a month. They have four biological children together and an adopted daughter(on behalf of Fergusâ same, famous sister), Amethyne, a former city elf and daughter of the former lady-in-waiting of the late Lady Landra. Her now elderly father still lives with them and helps out with the youngest children and sometimes even help train new guard recruits.
To ease her husbandâs worries as well as her own custom to wearing armor she regularly wears a golden girdle(made from dragon bone) over her dress and keeps a sword sheathed on her hip in case of troubles.Â
After a long hard day Idunna enjoys relaxing with a cup of cocoa in bed and good reading material. She enjoys the crime novels of V. Tethras along the works of Brother Genitivi.
Reblogging this from my old bioware themed Tumblr to keep it with me. I dunno why it's listed at mature censored( maybe because of the mention of the Starkhaven royal family) cuz I don't remember that. Also, Amethyne is in officially adopted by the family but because the world being as it is her official role is similar to a lady-in-waiting.
Songday Sunday:Â Warden x Ser Gilmore Playlist Such an underrated pair

One of my head canons is that Ser Gilmore was my Lady Cousland's first major crush and possible first kiss. This would have been a few years before Howe's coup though.
Iâm not saying Isolde and Bann Teagan are fucking when Eamon isnât looking... but they are totally fucking.
and according to the smith, sheâs also been fucking Jowan
I mean, the arl is old enough to be her fatherâŚ
Not sure if Iâd go that far. Teagan seems quite loyal to his older brother. I wholly believe he has a soft spot for Isolde. Either from pity or something a kin to friendship. I do think Isolde might be inlove with Teagan though. A little bit of âI married the wrong brother because statusâ vibe. Would explain some things. Still sus theyâre together at that party in Mark of the Assasin without Eamon though and the possibility of Teagan marrying Kathrine (girl with missing brother in DAO)
Forget EVERYTHING I JUST SAID. OH MY MAKER. SUDDENLY SEEING TEAGAN IN A WHOLE DIFFERENT LIGHT.

Me, sitting in the cuck chair while Morrigan and Alistair fuck:
I have no idea who is the creator of this bellow comic but this has been my headcanon ever since XD I love Kieran but the way my mind compartmentalizes that whole thing.
Things I will never forgive Bioware for:
Making Cassandra straight
Not making Varric romance-able
Making Cassandra straight
Making me choose between Hawke and Alistair
Making Cassandra straight
Making Cassandra straight
andâŚ
Making Cassandra straight
I'll add to it.
Not making Ser Gilmore romance-able
Not making Nathaniel romance-able
Only being able to marry 2 love interest in Trespasser
And finally:
************ Spoiler*************
Killing Varric off in what felt like a narrative execution and then dangling his ghost infront of the player only to snatch him away again.
a thousand iterations of this joke have already been made but i dont think ill ever get over the fact that varric inexplicably includes the awkward bioware sexy cutscenes in his story
âda2 is a story being told by varricâ yea ok but why is it also erotic fanfiction about his friends. like at this point hes gotta owe hawke royalties, right ??
Just made me think of that moment in HIMYM.
Was looking up images of Alistair and just now realized Dark Horse made his eye grey/blue instead of the amber brown.
WHAT THE HECK DARK HORSE??? HIS EYES ARE LIKE ONE OF HIS BEST FEATURES. smfh
Bind a Fic With Me From Start to Finish
Shared with my friends already, but thought I would post here too; Iâm trying to get back into bookbinding, so Iâm practicing with one of my own works: Oathbreaker!
Typesetting
I followed this amazing tutorial by Morrigan Segdae on Youtube to make this typeset in GoogleDocs. I have not YET figured out how to do this in Ellipsus sadly! Rather than rehashing the instructions within that video, I highly recommend you watch it. Some snippets from my typeset:
Cutting & Assembling
Tumblr wonât let me upload all of the pictures of this process, but hereâs a few highlightsâŚďżź
And thatâs it! Tah-dah!
Materials I Used:
are you fond of dancing, my lady?
for @montilyetweek day 1 ; courtship
F!Hawke: Varric likes to say âyou can be part of the problem or part of the solution,â but I happen to believe you can be both.
Now this one made me laugh. Very much my Amelia Hawke. Poor woman.
CONFESSION:Â Â
Cullenâs tarot card is awful and really freaks me out. It was obviously based off that creepy concept art and doesnât match the pretty boy version they ended up with. I look at Josephine and Lelianaâs cards and they both fit the character so well. Then, Cullenâs card pops up and the man looks an awful lot like the Crypt Keeper for someone who is only supposed to be in his early thirties.
Mod Note/Image Credit: Image provided By Confessor
Guess this shows fans wouldnât have romanced a templar struggling with a lyrium addiction who had been through physically and mentally traumatic events and actually looks the part. Yâall wanted to ride that Commander but you couldnât do it unless he was the pretty boy.
I donât care, I like his card, yes I do! Looks very much realistic to me, no, not ugly at all.
I LOVE HIS CARD. When youâve seen a lot of stuff, you are going to look older. When your recovering from a drug addiction, youâre going to look tired.
I would have picked him still if looked more like the tarot card in game and not like the stereotypical pretty boy. I liked that there was weight behind him with the previous two games and I just gravitated to him more than the other options.
Gotta capture my mind before you capture my passion IRL. Same with my video game hubbies :)
@a-shakespearean-in-paris , I agree. I prefer that he would look like in the card, sometimes, he has been through so much shit We canât expect him to look like a supermodel.
Also guys, I really donât see nothing ugly. Tired, not to healthy probably, but definitely not ugly.
First of all⌠I donât even like blonde guys in real life.
Second⌠I donât like muscular man either HAHAHAHAHA I love thin man - maybe because Iâm fat - I donât know.
Third⌠I love Cullen for who he is, not what he looks like!
I think thatâs my âproblemâ with his tarot card; he looks old enough to be my characterâs (in her mid-20s) father rather than her boyfriend (but in the concept art I think he could very easily just be a worn out 30-sth though and Iâd definitely still have chosen Cullen). I think he still looks younger and -though in a different way- more handsome in the bottom picture (concept art) than in the top one (tarot) though. And thus yeah Iâd still romance him, heâs still our the same cullen idc if he looks a bit more worn out. (The Crypt keeper comment is a bit much imo regardless but ey I know a hyperbole when I see one.) âBut what if you played a character aged 50 would that mean you would date 50 y/o Cullen?â Oh hell yeah. âWhat if he was in his early 30s?â Then I most likely wouldnât. Â Cause heâd seem too young for my character to me personally. And that last bit is important.Â
AND HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART:
regardless of all else itâs a game, you tend to go for who you believe would be a good fit if you were that character irl based on your own frame of reference/past experiences. Or at least I do.Â
Because for all means and purposes, in-game you are that character. You make the decisions. Including the romantic ones. Which can also mean a healthy dose of who your âtypeâ is (emotionally, physically and/or both depending on what you consider important in a romantic relationship- call me superficial but I personally wouldnât date someone Iâm not in the slightest physically attracted to but I know not everyone is as physical as me in that regard). And yeah thatâs sth that can grow though cause when you start falling for someoneâs personality you start seeing them as more beautiful than they are to other people this is a thing. Like irl romantic relationships, this is based strongly on the connection you have with the character and whether you think youâd wanna date him from your characterâs perspective.Â
Itâs interesting the things people say about cullenmancers when I quite literally romanced him in DAI soley for the moment he gets flustered that a girl flirts with him
Yes, the card art is a little jarring and harsh(his expression and charisma in it) looking in comparison to the Commander we meet.
No I don't really like blondes. I don't dislike them either. It's just meh, there's nicer haircolors.
When the companions where released before game launch Cullen was maybe 4th on my list. I wanted Iron Bull, Cole and Blackwall long before Cullen.
So why Cullen?
Socially awkward, easily flustered, tripping on his words when he talks to you more intimately. The kissing scen... the bloody desk scene...
The Vulnerability â˘ď¸
And finally. Honestly, he could have looked like Quasimodo and I'd still romance him. I've been sporting a crush for actual(Disney) Quasimodo since childhood. Again, personality.
