Afterwards, they just lay there, sweaty bodies pressed together as they came down from their high. Lucy had immediately curled into his side when he’d crawled back into bed after disposing of the condom, her cheek pressed against his pecs right over his heart and a hand on his chest, and her legs tangled with his. He pressed a kiss into her hair as he pulled her closer, his eyes falling closed as he lingered and breathed her in.
He never wanted to move again. If he could stay right there for the rest of his life, he’d die a happy man.
“Are you falling asleep on me?” he whispered after a long while when Lucy’s breathing started to even out.
“No,” she mumbled quietly, but the way she was further sagging into him was a dead giveaway.
“You sure about that?” he chuckled, reaching up to brush a strand of hair out of her face and behind her ear.
She burrowed deeper into his chest without answering, curling her arm around his waist, and really, so what if she fell asleep on him? He didn’t want to move from his spot anyway. It also meant that he could hold her in his arms for a little longer, and he’d never say no to that.
Moments, minutes, or maybe hours later, he wasn’t sure, Lucy’s rumbling stomach rudely interrupted his own slumber. Right… they’d never actually gotten to making dinner before.
“You gonna try and talk yourself out of this one, too?” he whispered into her hair, a surprised little yelp escaping him when she playfully pinched his side.
“No,” she grumbled, letting out a deep sigh before she blinked her eyes open.
He found her gaze, her brown orbs shining with an emotion he didn’t dare try to name just yet, but it felt like she was staring right into his soul.
