As a poc who grew up in a all white family, I support op’s message. I was raised in a family that led me to believe we lived in a post racism society, I don’t feel like I was at all prepared for the real world or the discrimination I would face due to my skin color. I remember being 8 years old and feeling so hurt, not understanding why I was being treated so differently. No one is saying that black kids don’t deserve to be adopted into a loving home, just that white folks need to be mindful before adopting children of color. If you aren’t going to teach them about their heritage, or are going to feed them color blind nonsense- then forget it.
