Let me introduce you Zac Monday. I actually reblogged this from his tumblr blog that is a MUST to visit. I love everything about his work: the kaleidoscopic photographs he takes from his work, his crocheted masks and sculptures, the very edgy jewelry he makes, just everything! I found his works on apartmenttherapy first (link here), then I googled his name and totally lost hours of just looking his works.

I love the shape and the pattern of this macrame work. Macrame is a really old technique, dating back to the Babylonian and Assyrian times, but yet this looks like something fresh, something new, as if it was a whole new technique. The shape looks very impulsive bus still really aesthetic. I would love to wear this around my neck, as it gives a soft, natural feel, but still would make a strong statement.

THE FRAGILE CURIOSITIES OF CAITLIN MCCORMACK

MNEMOSYNE – Mne·mos·y·ne \ni-ˈmä-sə-nē, -zə– memory; goddess of memory. 

Some see Mnemosyne as a persistence of memory, where new memory is stitched together in the parameters of anamnesis.  There, memories can become beautiful fabrications that belie a beginning and beg off an end.

In a room of silent things, everything whispers as Philadelphia artist, Caitlin McCormack’s new work from her solo show, Mnemosyne, explores the concept of the mind’s attempt to reconstruct fragile remnants of memories before they are tainted.

McCormack crochets her delicate sculptures made of cotton string and glue, in her quest to capture her own lost fragments in the embrace of her delicate intersecting loops. The crocheted bones of her discordant creations, arranged in unnatural juxtapositions embody MNEMOSYNE’s sense of fragility, underscoring the attempt to preserve that which has fallen into Obscura. ‡

“It is the second installment in a cycle of exhibitions; an examination of the consequences of my practices, as they pertain to the scrutiny of memory’s authenticity. I am drawn towards a vacuous well of recollection, in which the fibers connecting a network of truths and fabrications fade in and out of darkness, at the bottom of which resides a glimpse of memory’s mass extinction.” – Caitlin McCormack
