i just found out about this bird (scale-crested pygmy tyrant) trying to find the most biodiverse countries and i feel tears welling up in my eyes because its so cute
why does it look like that i love him so much he's a little fella
Okay but also why does he look like that and then he's called the scale crested pygmy tyrant like... in what way is he a tyrant? I'm intrigued. I love him. I for one welcome our scale crested pygmy overlord.

The kids get different results if they ask Steve for help vs asking Jonathan.
Jonathan is the son of a working single mother and often stepped in to help take care of his little brother. Between Lonnie's abuse and being parentified at a young age, he never really got to be a child. So when one of the kids asks him for help with something, he will do it for them.
Steve is the only son of absentee parents and was expected to take care of himself from a young age. He was left to figure everything out on his own or deal with the consequences if he couldn't. So when one of the kids asks him for help, he teaches them how to do it themselves.
Will, who sometimes feels smothered and babied by his family, likes asking Steve for help. Dustin, who has no interest learning skills he thinks are unimportant, loves asking Jonathan.
This is unintentionally creating drama.
@precioussteveharrington love your tags and completely agree. I always HC Steve as dyslexic so I think when he does read, it's with intention. There's something he needs to know and he knows books have answers because he's watched his dad read case law to win court cases.
I am now picturing a librarian watch a small child sneak out the door (like a ninja - ie darting behind the return cart and doing random kicks) with a book shoved up his shirt.
Technically, that's stealing but Steve always brings the book back around the time it would be due so she lets it slide...for now.
Eventually, she's going to stop him and get him signed up for a library card.
I don't even know anymore guys
One reason I can't go full vegan/vegetarian (despite eating a mostly non-meat diet (ie meat for only one/two meals) for activism reasons) is that humans literally evolved to eat animal products. Like we evolved with this specific diet, and yeah, maybe you can supplement in a bunch of other stuff, but truly, this is how I was built. I'm not messing with that. Also, there's some research that suggests we evolved to eat processed foods specifically (cooked/cut meat and veggies, not spam, but spam too ig), so I'm gonna keep doing that too. yummy yummy cooked meat and veggies. sorry drank a lot tonight
Last year, I befriended a Catholic seminarian. We've gotten to be pretty decent friends. Seeing as he was staying in town for the summer and I wasn't, I entrusted him with caring for my plant.
He did a wonderful job, but as he was returning my plant to my custody, he explained "I watered her every other day, I gave her new dirt, moved her into the sunshine, prayed the rosary-"
"What?"
He looked at me, confused. "Isn't she a plant you pray with?"
"No," I said slowly. "She's a prayer plant. That's the... colloquial name of the plant."
Upon seeing his stricken face, I realized something went wrong. Turns out, this entire time, he's been including my plant in on his prayers and leaving her near icons.
Listen, totally cool. My plant becoming Catholic is a great deal for her not dying over the summer. But now I must navigate this interfaith household. Keep me in your thoughts.
They made their bathroom look like you're in a pool. Clever.
