Highjacking this post! An idea for writers: Roll three ingredients and try to create a dish for your fantasy/sci-fi world that you wouldn't have initially thought of!
My players basically pulled this on me during a game session. I let them yes-and my worldbuilding, as long as it doesn't violate anything I have set up already. So they were in a city in Faerie, and looking to go eat, and I let one of them invent a restaurant one evening.
Player E: "There is another one called Cravings. They apparently serve you what you didn't know you were longing for." "It says they have an Adventurous menu for the bold, and a Comfort menu for those craving that." ... The menus are like those two-in-one novels, where one starts from the front (the Comfort version) and that ends in the middle, whereupon you flip the menu uoside down and start at the back for Adventurous. ... "The Comfort menu is something the guidebook really likes, and it points out that there is a ... well, I personally always think of it as an Indecision Platter. It's got little bits of lots of good things." "The Adventurous menu has all sorts of things, like the one where you name two ingredients you really like, and the chef surprises you with your dinner."
Player T's character (also a T) chose that last item, and ordered something with mushrooms and garlic.
Now, I am the Mad Gastronomer, so this was very definitely a challenge set for me personally, both as cook and as GM.
I came up with: T gets a chickpea-battered, deep-fried giant mushroom, which, when it comes to the table, is doused in liquor, set on fire, and then extinguished by pouring a thin garlic and vinegar sauce over it.
One of these days, I still need to actually make that.

reminder that if you ever buy wool yarn secondhand you should put it in a plastic bag in the freezer for a week, let it thaw 24 hours, then refreeze another week. this makes sure that if there are any moths or pests they are killed by the first freeze, and the remaining eggs are lured to hatch by the thawing and then killed with the second freeze. until this process is complete you must keep the yarn isolated from your existing stash or you risk any infestation spreading. i buy a lot of wool yarn from thrift and antique shops and always do this and have never had a problem with moths or other bugs. if you buy wool sweaters or other wool things secondhand you should also do this just to be safe
Hi! I literally hate to do this but I’m not sure what else to do. My husband and I just moved a couple days ago. Between the last month of rent at the old place and first month of rent at the new place, we paid $4,000. That’s not even to mention the moving truck rental, and the gas to move the truck and our car 40 minutes to our new place. We are flat broke until next week, and have no food whatsoever. We also are running out of the cat’s food.
With all of that being said, I’m looking for some help. Any help at all. I hate to beg on tumblr, this is the absolute last thing I wanted to do. But I’m not really sure what else I can do to help us at 5pm on a Sunday, especially when we have to go back to work tomorrow and can’t really make it to any food pantries surrounding us. We’re more concerned about feeding the cat before his food runs out, but yeah. If anybody could spare a reblog or even a dollar, we’d be extremely appreciative. We acknowledge everybody is going through a hard time lately, but I thought I’d at least try to ask for help. Thank you for any help in advance, or even just for a reblog. 🖤

So, now I want to make an Effect, but oh my god RPG Maker 2003′s Event Systems are so intimidating, how do I start? A Yume Nikki fangame reference
WELL, you’ve come to the wrong right A place.
Now this tutorial’s gonna require a liiittle bit of familiarity with RPG Maker’s mechanics, but you can brute force your way through it and learn along the way (that’s what I did~) I’m going to be using the Not-Steam version of RPG Maker, because it’s a lot more condensed (and because I don’t want to port Yume Nikki to the Steam version)
Now, of course, the best way to learn how to make a fangame in general, is to see how Yume Nikki itself works. Feel free to explore the game, both inside AND… deeper… inside. Yeah. Go through the maps, see how things are made, and ohhh man if only they weren’t all Japanese-oh wait, that’s what I’m for.
(I’ll also be releasing an English version of Yume Nikki’s coding eventually, I was going to release it with this but decided to wait and see how much I can clean it up)

Welcome to step one of my blog posts of “making a Yume Nikki fangame for dummies”
As someone who has released a grand total of zero completed games and has barely left the alpha stages, I feel qualified as the most knowledgeable person on the subject.
You don’t have to be a good artist whatsoever to make a recolor, and just because you’re a good artist doesn’t mean you’re a good pixel artist at first either. So no matter your skill level, feel free to follow along~
We’ll be using RPG Maker 2003, aka the greatest of all great RPG Maker programs as Yume Nikki itself was created in it and thus it can do no wrong. For pixel editing, it varies on person to person, but MSPaint is fine (at first, other programs with layers and transparency are far more convenient, I use GIMP personally though many disagree with me on it. You’ll also want to upgrade if you want to export with proper colors and indexing and stuff)
