Her hand tightens ever so slightly against the man's own at that soft reassurance- "it's alright"- spoken so carefully near her temple as if it could break glass if it were even a fraction louder. If her face wasn't already flushed before, it definitely is more so now that her heart squeezes in her chest at such a gentle display. And if her heart skips a beat.. well, she elects to ignore it ( even if it causes her foot to catch the floor once more ).

Selena's hold at Byleth's shoulder shifts just a tad as she re-adjusts, refusing to look up for several moments as she tries to collect herself. If she knew she'd be making such a fool of herself, she'd never have even asked to--

Thankfully, the answer to her question comes as a good distraction- scarlet eyes peering up with a near glossy aspect to them. After taking a second to process the answer, she scoffs ( a front ) as she faintly shakes her head.

❛ "Trust what you know" huh..? What kind of lame tip is that? What's the point in asking for something if you just respond with "you know it already"? Idiot- ❜

The half-scowl on her face is diminished by the still-present tint of her skin. Even though the advice really is good, and something Selena will keep in mind, she still has to pick apart that god awful initial answer. But once more, her disapproval is hardly the main thing when it's lessened by the way her lips curl just at the edges.

Once more the redhead meets Byleth's gaze, emitting a more light-hearted huff ( to hide the quietest giggle ) as Selena steps with more confidence than a few minutes ago- practically dragging her partner along as she side-steps him to extend their joined hands out to the side and make a large circle as they spin.

[ TEA ] - Just what it says on the tin! The only teas offered are Mint, Bergamot, Sweet-Apple Blend, Albinean Berry Blend, and Southern Fruit Blend, wrapped in small tea bags. Some students, having anticipated a small selection, bought their own tea.

Thanks to a certain someone who would constantly ask her ( and other ladies ) out for a tea date at every chance he could- even if Severa does look back at those times with something dangerously close to fondness that she'd never admit to.

The redhead hums aloud, trying to sound at least somewhat casual. Selena had heard.. rumors of this somewhat skittish student, and Selena knows that she herself can be... rude someone who comes on a little strong, or rub people the wrong way.

An almost soft expression eases the tension in her body, a careful hand places a tulip down on the table a foot or so away from the young girl.

One's curiosity is understandably peaked when presented with something new. It's simple human nature. So at hearing there was some sort of bubbling water, Selena just knew she had to try it out. It's not like she was picky, anyway. You can't be picky when you never know when your next meal was.

Scarlet eyes sparkle upon recognition of lavender hair, nearly a skip in her step as she joins her ..ex(?) liege at the bar counter.

The redhead hums with a wide grin that reaches her ears. What? Can't she be happy to see someone? Gawds. ANYWHO, she waves down the staff member in charge of running the bar to order one of those new drinks shes heard only a little about. Her gleeful smile fades rather quickly as soon as she takes her first sip- clearly not impressed with the beverage.

❛ I know we've had some terrible chefs back in the castle, but this is just... a whole new level of bizarre. ❜

Despite her upturned lip, Selena is nothing but content in this calm moment. With a soft huff- mostly in amusement- she takes a tulip and places it right next to Camilla's own glass.

"Wow... Your hair is so long and pretty!" Maria breathes her admiration with shining eyes. The compliment had nearly slipped out on its own; she hasn't seen hair so long and well-maintained since... well, it hasn't actually been very long at all, especially with everyone at the Ethereal Ball putting on their best! But its vibrant hue puts her in mind of a time much, much longer ago.

"Hee hee... I used to braid roses into my brother's hair. Do you want one?" With a bit of a playful flourish, she pulls a rose from her bouquet and laughs. "This one, I mean!"

Bonding with students in her house is... odd, but not unwelcomed. Nor is it surprising, as most who are stationed in Garreg Mach, staff included, seem like they want to make connections. Granted, that is kind of the whole point of the place being built--

Task successful, one supposes.

But.. something about this interaction feels.. off to Selena. The more she tries to figure it out, the farther away from an answer she gets. Perhaps it was the student herself? What about her was standing out? Was it the red hair that they share? Of a young redheaded child? A redheaded child that Selena was never able to become--

Her expression softens at the gesture as she inspects the rose the girl is handing out in offering.

❛ Well, of course my hair is stunning. I spend quite a bit of time to care for my appearance. Quite frankly, I'd be insulted if it didn't put everyone else's hair to shame. Buuut... I do think a rose would make it even better! ❜

A prideful stride takes the older women over to one of the nearby benches to seat herself before waving the lass over.

It's always nice to have some sort of familiarity with one's surroundings in a new world- makes the transition that much easier ( or at least tolerable ). Food has always been the one thing that is simultaneously the easiest and hardest to adjust to. Easy because Selena's not a picky eater, but the hardest because it makes her miss home in a weird way. Even if the food was exceedingly simple, it still had a coziness to it that she misses on the occasion.

In this new place, the food is far from simple. It's much closer to how the little kitchenette was in Corrin's secret base, with a wide variety of ingredients and recipes ( likely helped by the fact that there was at least three "nations" that had wildly different habitats and cultures ) available.

Which would make one think that there would be something for just about everyone- that there would be at the very least one thing that someone would like from the large range of options. Which leads to redhead to be a little worried confused when she spots a familiar face.. well, making faces at his plate.

Light footsteps bring Selena just behind and to the side of Leo, an eyebrow raised in suspicion as she fights down a teasing smirk.

This schuol ( church school ) just gets more and more baffling by the day. Not only do they have mock-war battles, they also hold some sort of dance contest... for some reason?? The more Selena learns the less she understands. Whatever, she just needed to supervise it- she thinks. The instructions were not very clear, truth be told. But it's not like the redhead needs that information since she cannot audition- not that she wants to! Just that staff were not allowed to enter ( obviously ).

Speaking of the staff- who all are in charge of this little event anyway? Or, was it just a free-for-all in terms of who was lending a hand? Sure she knew how to organize an army and weapons stash, but a dance competition? How in the world.. even if she is technically faculty, she isn't cut out for this-----------

IS WHAT SHE'D SAY IF SHE WERE A QUITTER!! MOMMA AIN'T RAISED NO QUITTER! So it is no surprise that Selena strides down to the ballroom to get a jump start on this new assignment. She does need to work to get paid ( and buy those cute pillows she saw at the shop the other day ).

What she comes across does not come as much of a shock to her, and a soft warmth of familiarity settles in her chest. Even if they weren't intimately familiar, having fought side by side in a war bonds you in ways unimaginable- unreplicable. But, that's not important right now. Right now, she's more interested in why the woman was ( seemingly ) alone.

❛ You know, you really need to find another hobby. Surely you have other interests than only performing arts, yeah? ❜

The redhead calls out, a hand on her hip as she makes her own grand entrance before giving a brief glance around the hall.

One might think that the worst thing about popping up somewhere new ( for the third time!!! ) would be feeling isolated in unfamiliar territory. While that may suck, it's not the worst thing.. no, the absolutely most unbearable part of being relocated is all the fashion trends she has to catch up on! Seriously, how is a girl supposed to be on the top of her game ( as she always is! ) if she is constantly thrown for a whirl every time to learn the ins-and-outs? It's so exhausting! Don't even get her started on hair styles--

The main thing that makes this time around at least tolerable is that a friendly face is by her side coin bag and all. She probably should be a little more freaked out that someone else is also somewhere new ( and that could possibly out her "secret" [ secret to most ] ), but she honestly can't complain. Misery loves company.. or whatever. It's not like she'd be lonely! She is perfectly capable of making new friends! It'd be super easy!

The redhead starts with a slight huff, lips quirked ever so slightly at the edges- softening the intent into something far more playful.

Despite her "threat", she still tugs Corrin along by the wrist into the nearest shop she can see that has all kinds of clothing on display in the window before they can enter. Excitement is easily seen as the lass all but skips over to wracks of dresses and blouses, scarlet eyes scanning high and low to search for- what she hopes will be- a stunning new look.

She fell into the trap---- willingly! You just don't know good strategies when you see them. Wouldn't be the first time she accidentally was tricked ( she will never forgive Nelson for stealing her most prized possession-- even if he was already dealt with ). Now now, gotta make a good impression on the students ( or staff ) of the other house. Can't look too much of a fool! [ Mission grants +1 Axe ]

Burgundy Murder Mystery:

Despite being a teacher for another house, the redhead finds herself escorting a few Golden Deer students back to Alliance territory to investigate and answer the call for help from frantic nobles. Or more, this specific noble requested protection- which, fine enough, she's more than familiar with safeguarding those of high status. It's not as if money is a concern, as it would either come from the noble themselves or from the church, so she sees no reason to decline. Things take a turn for the worse though when said noble is found dead- even worse is that she ( and the students ) are being blamed for the death. Girl- why would they waste their time to come out to defend the jerkwad if they could have just killed him in the first place without all the extra work? Getting all sweaty for nothing! [ Mission grants +1 Sword ]

Well.. she is a teacher. So it isn't that odd that she'd be one of many to be involved in the White Heron Cup, right? Not that she's the one participating- obviously. But she can't lie that the idea of getting to dance sounds nice.. nostalgic, in a way. No, it's not because it reminds her of more peaceful times of her childhood. No it doesn't bring back memories of standing on her father's toes as he teachers her the basics of ballroom dancing ( something she needed to know, apparently ).

Now, she may not be overtly familiar with this world's sense of fashion- but she sure as hell knows at the very least she would never wear something of such... specific taste. Not even if she fell in battle would she be caught in such.. ill-favored looking garments.

how did we end up here..?

What has led you to where you are today? What do you believe are your greatest strengths? Your greatest weaknesses? If a story were to be written about your life, what role would you play?

Is she surprised she finds herself in another new world? No. Is she happy about being sent off to a third dimension? Also no. Not like she can do anything about it- probably. Unless there is some all powerful time and space bending divine being ( highly possible ) somewhere nearby that'd be willing to send her back home.. Whatever. A new task to search for later- after she finds out just where and when she is this time.

The "how" of getting to this completely foreign land is still unknown to her, which is a bit concerning. Before there was a reason behind it- back in time to save her parents and the world or into another realm to watch over a divine(?) being's child. What was the reason this time? Surely there had to be one..

A smart place to start her search is at this.. castle looking place. Although, it doesn't exactly remind her of a palace or anything that actual royals would live. Or, the place didn't have a style that she was familiar with. The redhead spots an entry point where groups of horses, merchants, and.. teenagers(?) come and go between the walled off area and the surrounding land. That is her best bet to find answers-- no better way to find them than by running into it head first. No fear, no hesitation! ( It's one of her best qualities. )

A few people give her odd looks, likely noting how her clothing seems bizarre ( how rude, her outfit was completely fashionable! They just don't know good taste when they see it. ) and her curiosity has her wandering around as if she had no idea where she was ( she didn't ). But that's fine, she's used to having eyes on her- such was the life of the "perfect" daughter to the "perfect soldiers" ( mom, dad, are you proud of me? ). Let them look upon her greatness!

It's actually a good thing that she caught attention of some of these people, as a knight comes to greet her. Based on how simple the armor is, the lass assumes it isn't someone of high rank- not that it really matters. She of all people know that every person is important in battle, no matter how small or insignificant the role seems. On the plus side, they seem rather friendly, which is sooooo needed at this point. Gotta establish herself somehow, yeah?

"Pardon me, you appear to be a little lost. Excuse my rudeness, but you are not from around here, are you?"

❛ You could say that, yeah. So tell me, where exactly am I? I see merchants, teenagers, priests, and knights.. an weird mixture if you ask me. ❜

The knight emits a small laugh at her baffled expression.

"This is Garreg Mach Monastery, which not only serves as a worshipping ground for the Church of Serios, it also hosts the Officer's Academy."

She nearly laughs at how odd that sounds. ❛ Really.. a church, and a school..? Well- that certainly is.. a choice. ❜

"The purpose of the school is to serve as a good way to teach combat, history, governance, and about the Saints. Though, the main goal is to help promote peace by making students from all over the continent attend and befriend and learn with each other. Commons and Nobles alike attend and promotes equality."

❛ ..That doesn't sound too bad, honestly. I mean, sure it is a little odd in theory, but it seems like a nice idea to leave less room to incite wars.. ❜

Oh how that would have been nice.. She wonders if there was some sort of area between Nohr and Hoshido ( aside from the silly fort that sits isolated on the boarder ) if the whole thing could have been prevented... No, Valla still would have had a type of influence in one way or another. Besides, Corrin did a good job at deescalating it all and bringing the two nations together.

Not now! Reminisce later. She still needs to learn more- though having at least a name of the current place is a good start. .....This is a school, if she wanted to learn more--- no. While learning about the current world is a good idea, she doesn't- or shouldn't ( at her age ) enroll as a student. Not only would that make her stand out more ( can't let anyone find out about her secret-- she doesn't know if it's safe to reveal any of that ), it would be totally awkward. A grown adult surrounded by toddlers? Talk about tacky. Plus.. she might end up trying to compete with the students about being the best ( which she is the best! ) and that would not be a good look for her. Imagine trying to pick a fight you know you'd win. Disgusting.

Besides, it's not as if she's the protagonist in one of those romance stories that her mother would always read. She's perfectly fine being a side character ( at least, for now ) who makes guest appearances- being the total badass she is. She's not a hero- but she is a warrior. Though, none of that matters in this new world- for the moment, at least. Not until she finds out more about where she is. Hopefully this world won't need her skills.. maybe, just maybe, she can relax.. even if she knows, deep down, she'd never be able to be rid of the itch for battle ( how could she after having to fight ever since she could hold a sword in her hand? ). Perhaps that can be her one flaw ( and only one! she is such a flawless being otherwise! ).. being unable to let go of the past.

Gods this person is so.. polite. Friendly. Almost alarmingly so.. they remind her of someone, but she can't think of who..

❛ Um.. How would someone- theoretically, of course- go about enrolling? Or I guess I should first ask what is available to the public. Is there like.. a library or something of the sort? ❜

Even with a helmet on and covered head to toe in armor, she can see the knowing grin on this knight's face.

❛ Or if someone wanted to become part of staff? ....Not that I need it! I'm just asking. ❜

"Of course. Well, should anyone want to enroll as a student or faculty, they would go to the admissions office and fill out some paperwork. Most of which would simply be about your name and where you were from and what abilities you possess. There is a library run my Tomas which has all kinds of books and information in it, which would be helpful to those not from around here."

Internally, she cringes. Once again, she can just feeeeel the smugness this knight emits. They absolutely know- could she be any more obvious about being curious? She has to stop herself from asking where this office was, or where the library is. A hunt through foreign castle walls is in order-- after this knight loses sight of her.

There's also the whole "secret identity" nonsense that she isn't sure still has to be in play after Anankos' defeat. It isn't safe to take risks, not right now. So there is probably going to be some.. omitted details- no, a loooott of omitted details. Sigh.

No she is not running away! She isn't a coward! She is.. tactically retreating. Yeah. That's it. The knight gives her a little wave as she leaves, and there absolutely was not a slight dusting of pink to her face! Shut up!

Now.. time to see what this library could offer her. With the faintest grin, the redhead strides forward with pride ( as she always does ), entering the newest chapter of her story as she sets off to search for answers. How knows, maybe this school needs her- perhaps this is her reason for being summoned here.. to guide a new generation. That's what that knight said, right? That students here learned about combat and whatnot? She can could a good teacher-- she'd be the best teacher, obviously! At least it would provide some sort of direction to get her started on figuring out just why, and how, she got here.
