What would you guys change about adult Sasuke's design?
Honestly I don't even bother discussing the Gaiden arc with antis who will use it as proof "Sasuke only married Sakura to restore his clan," "Sasuke hates his wife/child," because if you know about Kishimoto's personal life, he basically projected his family troubles onto his characters.
Like Kishimoto didn't go on a honeymoon with his wife until the manga was over. If you look up Kishimoto's schedule when he was writing Naruto, he had 0 time for his family.
Obviously now the key difference is that Naruto and Sasuke have powers that make it possible for them to still spend time w/ their families (Naruto could've sent a shadowclone to work and stayed on Himawari's birthday; Sasuke could've teleported every now and then) but Kishimoto kinda applied his own personal experiences onto them.
Was Adult Sasuke's design disappointing?
yes
no
(I feel like it is the Boruto anime who did him dirty and in Kishimoto's art he looks pretty good)
The switch up on zukos actor is crazy, people 2 yeard ago were saying jets actor should've played zuko instead ☠️
Boruto has some much filler episodes why couldn't they make a filler episode of baby Sarada with Sasuke before he left on his mission? Ik people meme about Sasuke being gone but in the Manga it seemed that he left when she was like a toddler so it's implied he was there until the mission
I just wanted to see young sasuke with baby Sarada 😭
OMG, the avatar fandom doesn’t deserve anything, especially f..king dude bros. The amount of disgusting takes I’ve seen running rampant on all social media platforms hating and bullying the real life actors is disgusting 🤬. And of course majority of them being guys is nothing new🙄
Sure Netflix Avatar is not as great as the OG show but to take it out on the actors and make fun of their physical appearances is vile.
The avatar fandom deserves nothing and I hope avatar studios is shut down permanently and never again makes any content for them.
This is how I feel about the Naruto fandom
Dudebros: Why does naruto keep chasing sasuke? he has shikamaru
Naruto:
Idk how unpopular this is in the SNS fandom but I always hate the takes of Sasuke being sexist, hating women. that he hated Sakura. I'll accept the take that he only cared for Sakura platonically in P1 before leaving or even that he was just indifferent to her. but hate how some fans make him out like he was a jerk to her even before he left Konoha when he honestly wasn't.
this is one of the angles people who hate sasuke try to attack him from by saying how he was abusive to sakura so I hate when I see people who supposedly like sasuke saying he's "sexist/abusive"
😭😭😭 the way Naruto holds Sasuke when he was injured look how gentle he is even while in fox mode
That moment when you realize SasuHina is the healthiest Sasuke ship because he didn't interact with her enough and if he did, he would've tried to kill her like everyone else in Shippuden
Genin Sasuke was so pure before Itachi traumatized him again.
He was the one who understood Kakashi's message about teamwork when he fed Naruto even though Kakashi told them not to.
During the Land of Waves arc, when Naruto was out alone training, he went to check on him. Then when they both got to the top, Sasuke helps Naruto return back to Tazuna's place. He saved Naruto from falling off a tree and also saved him from the demon brothers
He sacrifices himself for Naruto during the Zabuza arc.Naruto had done nothing but annoy Sasuke to this point. Getting in his face in ep 3, ambushing him/pretending to be him, refusing to share Sakura's advice, being a liability in general but Sasuke still was willing to risk it all for his annoying orange teammate (esp when he wanted to avenge his clan, he was willing to risk that for Naruto, which is a pretty big deal seeing that this was like his main reason for living..)
He kept his curse-mark a secret from Naruto because he didn't want Naruto to worry about him (he tells Sakura not to tell Naruto about it). While fighting Yoroi, when his cursemark gets out of control, he gets it under control by thinking of Naruto+Sakura.
Sasuke tells Naruto how he's one of the people he wants to fight most, which made Naruto feel pretty happy and felt like Sasuke recognized him as a worthy opponent.
During the Gaara fight, Sasuke used his body to prevent Naruto from hitting a tree and then basically told Naruto to take Sakura and gave a speech of how he's willing to die for his comrades (again shafting his goal of revenge for Naruto/Sakura)
Even when Itachi came back, Sasuke was genuinely afraid for Naruto and wanted to protect him.
I always felt like the Sasuke-hating part of the Naruto fandom just hated his personality and used his ""war crimes"" to justify their disdain for him when, they almost always adored characters from Naruto or other anime who did far more heinous things.
Meaning that they didn't actually care that Sasuke killed some random guards at the summit, they just didn't vibe with his personality and found him boring.
As an example, I've seen people who loved Itachi talking about how Sasuke is "irredeemable" for wanting to destroy Konoha. Like, Itachi actually committed a massacre and you love him, but you can't forgive Sasuke for mainly talking about doing it?
Like just admit you prefer Itachi's personality and that's why you're able to forgive him torturing Sasuke twice and killing a bunch of civilians, even if it was for "the greater good." 💀💀
Cause I am not buying that anyone actually cared about the faceless guards at the summit. (yes I once saw a dudebro saying how Sasuke killing the guards "traumatized" them)
💀
Sasuke's craziest moment of all time was when he chidori'd Karin and then said she's a burden to him (after she saved him countless times including during the Danzo fight) if she can be taken hostage so easily. Then Tobi tells Sasuke to finish Karin off, and before Sakura arrives, Sasuke tells Karin "later" (later what?!) 😭 and was about to kill her for real
That's why I could never understand people who shipped SasuKarin, while bashing SasuSaku.
I've never seen people talk about this before, but I have always believed that Kishimoto suddenly changed Sasuke's motives in Shippuden.
What I mean by that is, when Sasuke finds out the truth about Itachi. He did say "destroy Konoha." But when Tobi asked him to explain what that means, Sasuke said:
He just wanted to go after the elders.
During the Bee fight:
Sasuke goes out of his way to save Karin during the Bee fight, even though Juugo wanted to abandon her:
But, after he returns from his mission to take down Bee, he tells Tobi that he wants to kill everyone in the village, and he was only "feigning" in front of Taka.
I am not saying that Sasuke wanting to target all the villgers makes no sense from his POV, yes Sasuke he has a LOT of grievances against Konoha.
But, Kishimoto seemed like he changed Sasuke suddenly. Like, he wanted to go after the elders earlier. Then suddenly "yeah I wanted to kill everyone, I was just pretending to be good in front of Taka!" How does this make any sense? I mean Juugo literally massacred a village in his backstory, Karin tortured prisoners under Orochimaru, and he's worried of what they'd think if they knew he wanted to target everyone? Lol
Later when he fights Danzo, he sacrifices Karin (after previously going out of his way to rescue her and thinking of Team 7) and then he was gonna kill her before Sakura came because Tobi told him to.
My overall point: Kishimoto decided to turn Sasuke into this cartoon villain because if Sasuke remained an antihero, there would be no point in Naruto fighting him.Think about it if Sasuke just wants to kill the elders, what reason does Naruto have to oppose that? Instead, Naruto would actually look bad for trying to protect 3 elders who were responsible for the massacre and the audience would then root for Sasuke instead of Naruto. Kishimoto realized this, so he had Sasuke acting like this:
(After he stabbed Karin)
I'm a multi-shipper nowadays but when I first got into Naruto, Naruto/Sasuke was my #1 favorite ship but back then what bothered me was how shippers would often feminize Naruto and sort of paint him as like this fragile little thing.
Now it seems like the reverse has happened and Sasuke is the one who gets feminized and I'll frequently see people on X talking about how he has feminine "traits/behavior."
To me the appeal of the ship was always how they were written as equals in canon lol. I like the ship just not when one of them is being emasculated
Thoughts on SasuSaku
When I first joined the fanbase many many years ago, I remember being anti-SasuSaku and in hindsight, I feel like it was because hating SasuSaku was popular in the fandom. But, as Sasuke was my favorite character, I realized how a lot of the anti-SS claims were so wrong and based on terrible understanding of Sasuke's character.
For example, I'd see antis say how Sasuke, in Part 1, "hated" Sakura or he despised her. Even when I wasn't an SS fan, I strongly disagreed with that "analysis." Sasuke literally called Sakura one of his precious comrades during the fight with Gaara, he was willing to sacrifice himself for her. Sakura was shown to cause his curse-mark recede in the Forest of Death. Even if you don't like SasuSaku, idk how people can seriously claim kid Sasuke "hated" Sakura (or anyone for that matter). I've seen people, usually Sasuke haters, saying he hated Naruto when he nearly died for him in the first arc.
During Shippuden, the go to anti argument is how Sasuke tried to kill her. Even when I didn't like the ship, I'll be honest, this wasn't super compelling to me. Sasuke tried to kill EVERYONE during Shippuden. He didn't single out Sakura. If this makes someone uncomfortable, then it's a fine reason not to ship it. But when you ship Sasuke with Karin or Naruto? It just seem like a huge double standard to me. Calling SasuSaku abusive because "Sasuke tried to kill her," when you ship Sasuke with other characters he also tried to kill?
Gaiden: Kishimoto basically admitted, through interviews, how he projected his issues with his family onto Naruto and Sasuke. In universe, it is explained how Sasuke had an important mission (I know the fandom doesn't care, as they'll use anything to justify bashing Sasuke/Sakura).
Overall: My view is that SasuSaku could've been written better, specifically in Shippuden and Gaiden. But the hate for it is so extreme and exaggerated.
