watching reddit go into a full death spiral is like watching the specifically trans equivalent of the library of alexandria go up in flames
like yes reddit is also the only place on the internet you can get an actual answer to any question in general. but it’s also a huge centralized community database about which surgeons will fuck you over, who takes what insurance, which doctors you can trust, how to write a template therapist’s letter, insurance appeals, peer support, questions that feel too stupid to ask anywhere else, diy guidelines, “hey this is embarrassing but,” finding trans people in your area, explaining why you need PTO without getting way too personal about it, safety tips, et cetera you get the picture
Someone on trans Reddit just bought the url transgender.org and have put out a call for folks to help turn it into a replacement (and more). Here's a link on r/ftm but it's open to everyone

Hello Tumblr! I am posting this on behalf of the Queer Liberation Library, who don't yet have a Tumblr, but have promised me they're working on it. Some of you may remember them from the Twitter Poll I was involved in a few months ago where Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites beat multiple award-winning, trad-pub queer authors with a hefty 69% (nice).
For those of you unaware, the Queer Liberation Library, or QLL, is an organization fighting to build a vibrant, flourishing queer future by connecting LGBTQ+ people with literature, information, and resources that celebrate the unique and empowering diversity of our community.
And today, June 12th, 2023, they launched their fundraiser to try and reach 15k so that they can start purchasing digital licensing for queer media and hopefully open their digital doors to library patrons across the US in 2023 with as many queer and trans books as possible.
You can check out their newly redesigned website here:

(If you are in an unsafe space and need to exit the webpage quickly, there is a quick exit bar at the top that redirects to a weather page. When I spoke to them about their web design they were also open to accessibility suggestions and are potentially working on a dark mode for those of us who need it.)
If you know me, you know I am unequivocally pro-library, both as a reader and a queer writer. But with the current rise of homophobia, transphobia, and the proposed ban on books taking hold in certain States, the importance of having protected access queer books cannot be over-emphasized enough.
The QLL aims to protect that access, aiming to provide FREE access to queer and trans media (ebook and audio) to patrons regardless of location within the United States.
They are funded entirely through regular donations from their supporters and their now annual Pride fundraiser, where they hope to afford the cost of not just library books but also maintaining their web presence and staff.
I cannot emphasize enough how much this project is a labor of love for everyone involved and its importance.
And just to clarify, I am not involved in any way beyond raising awareness. When QLL reached out and asked me to retweet their fundraiser tweets, I readily agreed and offered to post about it on Tumblr because I believe in their mission and the world they are trying to build.
One where queer and trans books can't be banned or taken off of shelves because of bigotry and hatred.
If you would like to donate to the cause, you can do so here:
Happy Pride! Let's build a queer library!
They've already surpassed their first 2k, and it'd be absolutely wonderful if we could help them reach their next milestone. And if you can't give, please consider signal boosting this post.

when drawing Alex's wedding dress, a lot of people tend to forget that she was disguised as Samirah, so the dress has to be hijabi-friendly. that means sleeves, a full-length skirt, no plunging necklines, no off-the-shoulder moment, et cetera. with this in mind, please rb this with drawings of Alex in her dress. i think it'd be fun <3
drawing wedding dresses is not my strong suit but I couldn’t pass up this opportunity
there are not many posts like this out there but shoutout to trans women who like their voices, shoutout to trans women who like having a dick, shoutout to trans women who are butch, shoutout to trans women whose transition has been ‘unconventional’, shoutout to trans women who will never pass and dont care to, shoutout to trans women who are tall, shoutout to trans women who break the binary that was reinvented in progressive spaces. you people are so fucking incredible.
As a car mechanic, I can safely say, I don't understand the gay agenda.
I do however, understand the trans mission.
“what if people transition and then regret it?” ok. let’s do that with everything. no more straight marriages until the heterosexual divorce rate is below the detransition rates
you can’t say that ppl are experiencing some sort of epidemic of social pressure to go on hormones and get gender affirming surgeries when some states require you to have surgery in order to get your gender marker changed on you license, many surgeons require you to have been on hrt before agreeing to do your surgery, people routinely harass non-passing trans ppl, and states keep putting out bills and emergency orders restricting gender affirming care which means people who might have wanted a little more time to contemplate what was best for them were forced to make a quick decision before the law or order went into affect that they might not have ended up making if they’d been given the time. we’re not the ones pressuring people into making decisions they might regret. leave trans healthcare between trans people and their doctors.
i’m here for the trans boys who don’t pass well or at all. for the trans boys who are afraid they never will pass. i’m here for the trans boys with curves and the trans boys with ‘feminine’ figures, large chests, wide hips, etc. you’re all stronger than you know.

y'all there is an absolutely bonkers deal going on at itch.io right now
You can get over 500 rpgs for only *five dollars* right now. That's right, over $2000 worth of games for only five fucking dollars. It's insane. It's unreal. It's totally worth more than any dollar amount you're going to throw at it. And it's all going towards charities that work with trans folx on the ground: specifically Zebra Youth and Transinclusive Group. If you donate more than $10 you get a special bonus - the creators of Action Fiction will send you a PDF copy of the 5E supplement "Monsters of Murka: Chromatic Gamut." Go check it out now!!! Offer lasts until April 6!
Just realized I didn't include the link so here it is!
So within two days of each other, Fox News writes an article comparing aromanticism and asexuality to pedophilia, and then Matt Walsh releases a video saying asexuality is a mental illness and asexuals are tricking teenagers into having depression.
Not sure what’s going on right now over in Conservative World, but it’s a hell of wild U-turn for them to suddenly switch from “Oh no! The left is sexualizing our children!” to “Oh no! The left is asexualizing our children!”
It’s a reminder, I guess, that they’re coming for all of us. The fash and the white supremacists will not make nice distinctions between the queers when they put us up against the wall. There is no gatekeeping, no label-policing, no purity-purging and no assimilation that any of us can do that will save us. They want us dead, and while they’ll start with whoever is most vulnerable at any given time, they’ll get around to all of us eventually.
Queer solidarity means all of us because the fash are coming for all of us.
every aspect of transition should be optional. everything. hrt, voice training, clothes, surgery, make up, all of it. it doesnt all work for everyone and its not all things every single trans person needs or wants, transitioning should be about Your comfort and what You want. not what cis people expect, not about passing. its Your body and You have to live in it so customise it how You want to.

[ id: a semi stylized, digital drawing of two people doing pottery together, sitting next to each other. Both wear brown aprons with "HV" written in a corner at the top and a green bandana on their head, pushing back their hair. Both also have their hands dirty. The background is light peach with peach splatters to the center.
To the left is a skinny person with medium-dark skin, sharp, brown eyes, medium length, curly, dark brown hair with green tips and freckles, wearing a green t-shirt. They smile, with a raised eyebrow. To the right is a skinny person with dark skin, dark brown eyes, medium length, and dark brown hair in braids with yellow tips, wearing a mossy green t-shirt. They look nervous, sweating a bit. /End id ]

Hogwarts Legacy. In fact, the entire Harry Potter universe. As a trans woman with friends who still engage with this stuff, I've been struggling trying to explain what hurts about it and how to respond to people, who I do still want in my life, who still engage with it.
Here's the conclusion I've come to: if you support Harry Potter stuff, in any way, you're not a trans ally. That doesn't mean you're transphobic. But it does mean that when trans people need support, we won't have faith that you'll do the right thing without us asking.
That's the nicest way of putting it. The harsher way of putting it is that your support for trans people is conditional on your desires, and because of that, we can't trust you.
If you're wondering, "Why is Harry Potter stuff anti-trans," there's lots of articles, videos, and posts out there explaining why JK Rowling's statements and actions have been harmful to the trans community. Here's a good video about it. And since she is the benefactor of royalties on all Harry Potter intellectual property, you bet your ass that buying that stuff supports her and her views.
If you're wondering, "But I didn't know any of this, and I already bought the game," cool. Now you know. And because your active participation in something implicitly endorses it to those around you, you should stop playing it.
If you're wondering, "But my actions don't matter, she's already rich," consider that individually, it doesn't matter much to her, but to the people in your life? To the people you know are trans, and the people you don't know are trans? It's meaningful. Your absence as an ally is felt. And you can do better.
